Twin sisters Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee and Allison Crutchfield of Swearin' have reunited under the moniker Snocaps, releasing a surprise album that marks their first new music together since 2011. The self-titled album, out now, features 13 tracks, with contributions from frequent collaborators MJ Lenderman and Brad Cook.
A longtime creative partnership has brought the four musicians together for this project. Lenderman provided backing vocals to tracks on Waxahatchee's 2024 album Tigers Blood, while Cook has been her go-to producer since Saint Cloud in 2020. The duo brings their musical expertise to Snocaps, playing various instruments across the record and lending a hand with engineering and production.
The reunion comes as no surprise, given that Katie and Allison have been collaborating in some capacity for over two decades. As Katie noted, "Allison and I have been, in some way, shape or form, doing this together for over 20 years." With Snocaps, the sisters are once again united behind the mic, delivering a cohesive and innovative sound that showcases their signature blend of punk spirit and melodic depth.
Fans can catch Snocaps live at select shows later this year. With no further dates currently announced, fans will have to wait with bated breath for the opportunity to witness the reunion firsthand. For now, the album stands as a testament to the enduring creative chemistry between these two talented musicians.

The sisters' 20-year collaboration history just makes me wonder what kind of crazy, beautiful music they came up with back in the day... did they ever have to Google "how to be cool" together?
