Knicks’ Josh Hart says throat grab of Jalen Suggs was accidental

Josh Hart Apologizes for Throat Grab Incident

Josh Hart is facing scrutiny once again after grabbing Jalen Suggs by the neck during a heated exchange on the court. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game against the Magic, which the Knicks lost 133-121.

Hart claimed that he didn't intend to grab Suggs and said it was an accidental move. "It was a loose ball," Hart explained. "Obviously, we're jockeying for the ball. I wasn't even looking at him." He also suggested that the incident was a result of the chaotic nature of basketball games.

The play seemed to energize Suggs, who had been pursuing Jalen Brunson aggressively throughout the game. The crowd responded with a chant of "Let's go Magic," which added fuel to the fire.

Hart has accumulated two technical fouls in his past three games, including one for jawing at the referee during last week's loss to the Heat. He played 29 minutes on Saturday and scored 12 points while grabbing five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Miles McBride was absent from the game due to illness, marking the third time this season he has been sidelined. Assistant coach Joe Prunty took over for Orlando's Jamahl Mosley in the second half after he left the bench due to lightheadedness and dizziness.

In a separate development, Coach Mike Brown expressed his condolences to the family of Rodney Rogers, who passed away on Friday after suffering from natural causes related to his spinal cord injury. Brown shared a personal anecdote about Rogers, who played for the Nuggets in the 1990s, and highlighted the player's remarkable comeback story.

🤔 I'm not buying Josh Hart's "it was an accident" excuse 😒...reminds me of when Charles Oakley got into that infamous brawl with Karl Malone back in '97 💥 those guys were known for their intense rivalries, but you gotta be careful on the court too 🙅‍♂️. Anyway, it's not like Hart has never been in trouble before, I mean have you seen some of his plays? 🤦‍♂️ he's got some work to do if he wants to keep his cool under pressure 💪.

omg i'm so done with these NBA games already! 😩 they're just too physical and players are getting hurt easily. like what if jalen suggs got a concussion or something from that grab? 🤕 i feel bad for him, but at the same time, hart needs to apologize more sincerely than 'it was an accident'. it's not like they were just running into each other in the hallway, they're on the court and it's a high-intensity game. coaches need to teach them better sportsmanship too, not just let them duke it out. 🤦‍♂️

🤔 "You can't start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one." - Unknown 😬 The Knicks are facing some tough questions after that intense game. Grabbing someone by the neck, even if it was an accident, is never okay ⚽️. It's a reminder to always be mindful of our actions on and off the court 💡

OMG, this Josh Hart thing is so whack 🤯! Grabbing someone by the neck during a game is not an accident, it's reckless! And what's up with all these technical fouls? He needs to chill out before he gets kicked out of the league 🚫. I mean, I get it, basketball can be intense, but that's no excuse for losing control like that. It's a shame Jalen Suggs had to go through that 🤕. And on a separate note, Coach Brown sharing his condolences to Rodney Rogers' family is really beautiful ❤️. Rest in peace, Rodney! That's what we need more of – sportsmanship and respect 🙏.

🤦‍♂️ just saw that Josh Hart grabbed Jalen Suggs' throat during an exchange on the court... like what is going on with him?! 🤯 Two technical fouls in his last three games already? That's a red flag, you know? I'm not saying he meant to grab Suggs, but accidents can be avoided. Maybe it was just a heat of the moment thing? 😩 anyway, gotta keep an eye on Hart, he might need some extra coaching (pun intended) 👀

ugh this hart guy is getting old news... grabbing people by the neck is never an accident lol 🤯 what if he saw suggs coming at him? woulda been a different story then 🤑 anyway, gotta feel for jalen suggs, looked like he was having some good game before that snatch happened 🙅‍♂️

I think Hart's apology is pretty weak 🤔... I mean, accidental move? Really? You're a pro athlete, you've got to be able to control yourself on the court, especially when it comes to physical contact. It's like our politicians saying "it was just a misunderstanding" after getting caught red-handed in a scandal 😒.

And let's not forget about the context - Suggs had been aggressively pursuing Brunson all game, and then suddenly Hart just grabs him by the neck? It looks like a deliberate attempt to intimidate. Maybe Hart should take this opportunity to reflect on his actions and think about how he can be a better role model on and off the court 🏀.

It's also interesting that McBride was absent due to illness for the third time this season... is our NBA team doing enough to support its players' mental health? We need to start taking care of our athletes, just like we do with our veterans. And what about the coaching staff - should they be more proactive in addressing player safety concerns? 🤝

OMG, can't believe Josh Hart got caught up in that crazy game 🤯🏀 He's gotta be more careful out there, especially with all the intensity of basketball games 🔥 But I feel bad for him, he didn't mean to grab Jalen Suggs like that 🙅‍♂️ Still gotta hope Miles McBride is feeling better soon ⚕️ Coach Mike Brown sharing those heartfelt words about Rodney Rogers tho ❤️ it's always a good reminder of the real spirit of sports 🤝

Ugh, this Josh Hart guy is really getting under my skin 🤦‍♂️. I mean, I get it, heat of the moment and all that, but grabbing someone by the neck? That's just nasty 😒. And to make matters worse, he's been racking up those technical fouls like they're going out of style ⚠️. It's not exactly helping his team win games when he's getting into it with refs or other players.

But at the same time, I feel for him - basketball can be a high-intensity sport and emotions run wild 🏀. Maybe Hart was just trying to protect himself or something? But either way, I think this incident is gonna follow him around for a while ⏰. And poor Suggs, he's already having a rough game... maybe Hart should've kept his cool 🤔

OMG, what is wrong with Josh Hart? I mean, grabbing someone by the neck in the middle of a game is NOT OKAY 🤯! He's all like "it was an accident" but come on, that's not how basketball works! You gotta keep your cool and play smart. And can we talk about how the refs didn't call that? It's like they were just letting him get away with it 😒. I'm also kinda confused why Suggs took it so well, shouldn't he be all upset about getting grabbed like that? 🤔. Anyway, Coach Brown was super classy sharing a story about Rodney Rogers tho 💕.

😐 I feel bad for Jalen Suggs, that guy was just trying to make a play and get the ball back... I don't know if Hart's excuse is gonna fly with everyone though 🤔 Josh Hart has been having some issues on and off the court lately, maybe he should work on his reactions instead of grabbing onto people? 🤷‍♂️ And what's up with Miles McBride being sick for like the third time this season? Hope he's okay 🤞
