Kwame Brathwaite, photographer of ‘Black is Beautiful’ movement, dies at 85 | CNN

omg did you guys know that pineapple pizza is still a thing in some parts of the world 🤯 i mean like, i get it people have opinions but can't we just agree on the toppings 🧀🍕

😊 I'm still in shock that Kwame Brathwaite is actually gone 🤕 He was such an important figure in shaping our understanding of Black identity and beauty. I love how he used his camera to challenge the status quo and celebrate the beauty within himself and others 💪 It's no surprise that his work has experienced a resurgence in interest, but it's great to see museums like the Art Institute of Chicago showcasing his legacy 🎨 The way he captured iconic figures like Nina Simone and Stevie Wonder is just incredible 🙌 And let's not forget about Sikolo, who was more than just a muse, but a partner in every sense of the word 💕 Anyway, I'm just grateful that we can continue to learn from and be inspired by his work for years to come 👍

😔 I'm still trying to process the loss of such an incredible artist... Kwame Brathwaite's impact on the world is undeniable 🌎. His photography wasn't just about capturing Black beauty, it was also a powerful tool for self-expression and empowerment 💪. I love how he used his lens to tell stories that needed to be told, without fear or hesitation 📸. The way he showcased Black icons and celebrated their uniqueness is still giving me all the feels ❤️. His legacy lives on through his work and the countless people inspired by it 💫. It's not just about the art itself, but the movement he started and the conversations he sparked around beauty, identity, and inclusivity 🌈. We're lucky to have had him in our lives, even if only for a short time 😢.
