Kwame Brathwaite, photographer of ‘Black is Beautiful’ movement, dies at 85 | CNN

Man 😔 Kwame Brathwaite was like a true OG 🕺 of photography, you know? He brought this unique perspective on beauty that still inspires artists today 💃🏽. I mean, who else would have captured the essence of jazz legends like Miles Davis and John Coltrane in their prime? 🔥 His work with Grandassa Models was so ahead of its time, pushing back against those whitewashed standards and celebrating Black women's beauty 🌟. And let's not forget his travels to Africa, photographing music legends like the Jackson Five 🎸. He left behind a legacy that's still making waves today, and we're gonna miss him for that 🙏. His photos are more than just pics – they're pieces of history, community, and celebration ❤️.

Kwame Brathwaite was more than just a photographer - he was a movement 💪. His work didn't just capture images, it challenged societal norms and sparked conversations about what it means to be beautiful 🤔. It's crazy to think that his photography of young Black women in the 60s helped shift beauty standards away from whitewashed ideals 🌟.

What I love most about Brathwaite is how he used his art to bring people together - whether it was through jazz legends, music icons, or even his own models 💃. His passion and creativity are an inspiration to anyone who's ever felt like they don't quite fit the mold 🎨.

It's also amazing to see how his legacy lives on - from exhibitions in museums to artists being inspired by his work 🌈. He may have passed away, but his impact will continue to be felt for generations to come 💕.

Just found out about Kwame Brathwaite's passing 🤕 it's such a loss to the art world. His work was truly inspiring, especially during a time when beauty standards were so narrow-minded 💁‍♀️. I mean, who wouldn't want to see more Black women celebrated on camera? 📸 his grandassa models series is still giving me life today 💖 and the way he captured the energy of those jazz legends performing... wow 🔥 it's like we're transported back in time. I'm so grateful for the impact he had on people's perceptions of beauty and identity 👏
