L.A.’s Best December Restaurant Openings

As LA's culinary scene comes to a close for 2025, the final countdown is underway with several late-blooming eateries. For those who missed it, let's look back on some of November's most highly anticipated openings.

Holy Basil had been making waves before finally opening its doors in Santa Monica on November 29. The eagerly-awaited restaurant from chef Nancy Silverton and comedian Phil Rosenthal proved too popular, drawing in locals willing to brave the wait – a line that snaked out for over two hours each day. The buzz didn't stop there; Paradise Dynasty landed at the Americana with its famous xiao long bao, bringing a taste of China's vibrant culture to Glendale. Meanwhile, Sawtelle got its own Korean bistro vibe courtesy of The Mulberry.

Moving on to December, LA's hospitality scene is seeing some fresh blood. Last Word Hospitality launched Hermon's in Los Feliz – think upscale dining with a hint of sophistication. Not to be outdone, Vandell added some much-needed cool to the neighborhood as its hip cocktail bar opened its doors. And for those craving Tex-Mex on a Friday night, HomeState is set to open a new location in Santa Monica. Hollywood fans will be delighted by the arrival of Robata Jinya, serving up comforting Japanese fare.

In all, LA's best December restaurant openings are looking particularly good this year – offering everything from classic French cuisine to moody Korean eats. Whether you're after an ice-cold martini or indulging in exquisite French delicacies on West 3rd, there's something for everyone.

I'm so done with the lines at Holy Basil lol 😂 my wallet can't take it no more! I know some ppl love waiting 2 hours but tbh it's just too much time 🕰️. Anyways, Paradise Dynasty sounds fire tho 👌 their xiao long bao better be on point! And omg HomeState in Santa Monica? That's like a dream come true for me 🤩 and Robata Jinya? Japanese food in Hollywood? Yes pls 🍜

🤯 just had to chime in about Hermon's, it looks like they're going upscale with that 'sophistication' vibe... kinda hoping they don't forget to keep it real, you know? also saw Robata Jinya and it sounds like some cozy comfort food - need a spot for a casual Friday night in. still salty about the xiao long bao hype tho

I don’t usually comment but I gotta say, LA is killin' it when it comes to new restaurants opening up! 🤯 Sawtelle got that Korean vibe going on and Holy Basil was lit (sorry, had to) - I mean, who wouldn't want a wait for over 2 hours just to try Nancy Silverton's food? 😂 And HomeState adding another location in Santa Monica is a win-win for anyone lookin' for some good ol' Tex-Mex. Robata Jinya bringin’ Japanese comfort food to Hollywood fans sounds like a match made in heaven, fam! 🍜👌 Can’t wait to try out these spots and see what all the fuss is about

man i'm so done with the wait times at holy basil lol i mean i get it its a famous chef and all but come on 2 hours is crazy 🤯 what's the deal with that anyway? and i gotta say sawtelle got some nice vibes going on with the mulberry, love the korean bistro feel. but hermons in los feliz sounds super fancy, dont know if im ready for that level of sophistication just yet 😏

Ugh, I'm so stoked for LA's food scene but at the same time, I'm like, totally over all these new openings 🤯😩. I mean, Holy Basil was supposed to be this game-changing restaurant and now it's just a bunch of people waiting in line for hours... what's the point? 🙄 And don't even get me started on Paradise Dynasty, everyone's going gaga about their xiao long bao but have you tried those at that other spot downtown? It's not like they're all that special 🤷‍♀️. And another thing, why do we need another Korean bistro in Sawtelle? Can't we just stick with the one good one on Pico 🤔. Anyway, I guess Hermon's and HomeState are looking pretty cool so far... but only if they deliver on that fancy-schmancy vibe and Tex-Mex goodness, respectively 👀💁‍♀️

omg i am literally so down for trying out hermons in los feliz! the name alone sounds super fancy and i love how it's got a hint of sophistication 🍴👗 i've been hearing great things about homestate in santa monica too, their tex mex menu is def calling my name! 🌮️ can't wait to check out robata jinya for some comforting japanese grub 🍜 has anyone tried sawtelle's new korean bistro yet? 💁‍♀️

omg i'm so stoked about the new restaurant openings in LA 🤩! sawtelle getting its own korean vibe with The Mulberry is like, total game changer 🔥 and i'm lowkey obsessed with Holy Basil already had me salivating just reading about it 💦. can't wait to try out Hermon's last word hospitality sounds so fancy schmancy 👑 and robata jinya for all you hollywood fans out there 🎬. december is shaping up to be an amazing month for foodies, literally every new spot looks amazing 🤩🍴

omg i'm so down for trying out these new spots! holy basil is literally at the top of my list rn - have heard great things about that xiao long bao 🤤 and sawtelle sounds like a total vibe fest too!! hermons in los feliz looks fancy enough to impress even the pickiest eaters 😂🍴 and i'm all for that new home state location in santa monica! who's been to paradise dynasty yet? want to grab some xiao long bao together 🤗

ugh i'm so glad i missed these places lol i was in europe last month 🤦‍♀️ anyway it seems like santa monica is the place to be for foodies now that holy basil and homestate are open 🍴👌 i've heard great things about paradise dynasty too, can't wait to try those xiao long bao 🥟 and hermon's sounds super fancy but also kinda intimidating 💁‍♀️ what's with all the korean spots tho? is it just a trend now? 😂

🤔 I'm loving the new spots popping up in LA! Holy Basil is giving me major restaurant envy lol. 2 hour lines? That's dedication! 😂 Sawtelle and The Mulberry sound like my kinda vibe too. Korean food has been missing from the scene, so it's awesome to see some fresh faces. And Hermon's is calling my name, upscale dining with a hint of sophistication sounds right up my alley 🍴👌 Can't wait for HomeState to open in Santa Monica and Robata Jinya to bring some comfort food to Hollywood 😊

I FEEL LIKE LA IS GETTING CRAZY FOR FOOD LOVERS!!! NEW RESTAURANTS ARE POURING IN EVERYWHERE AND I AM HERE FOR IT!!!! FROM HOLY BASIL TO PARADISE DYNASTY, I HEARD THOSE PLACES HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY PACKED SINCE OPENING DAY!!! I MEAN WHO DOESN'T LOVE A GOOD KOREAN BISTRO OR FRENCH RESTAURANT WITH A HINT OF SOPHISTICATION???? LA IS REALLY BRINGING THE FLAVOR THIS YEAR AND I AM STOKED TO SEE WHAT'S NEXT!!!!

I'm low-key obsessed with how LA's food scene is exploding with all these new eateries 🤩. It feels like every month has a bunch of fresh spots popping up – and I am HERE FOR IT! From Holy Basil to Hermon's, it seems like every neighborhood is getting its own unique vibe. I mean, who wouldn't want to grab xiao long bao from Paradise Dynasty or enjoy a moody Korean meal at Robata Jinya? The best part is that there's really something for everyone – whether you're in the mood for fine dining or just need a quick Tex-Mex fix on a Friday night. LA's hospitality scene is seriously killing it right now and I'm loving every minute of it 😋

I'm so over the whole "LA's culinary scene is heating up" hype 🤦‍♀️. Like, every year it's always the same: new restaurants, old restaurants get more Instagrammable, and people still think they're special just because they can afford a $20 salad 🥗. And don't even get me started on the whole "upscale dining with a hint of sophistication" thing - just code for "we're gonna charge you an arm and a leg for some overpriced soup". I mean, come on, LA's got enough fancy restaurants already; can't we just have something real for once? Like, a decent taco truck that serves actual tacos 🌯️.

omg i'm so stoked about the new restaurant openings in LA 🤩! holy basil and paradise dynasty are like my fave spots now - their food is literally insane 😍 i mean who can resist a good xiao long bao? 🥟 sawtelle's mulberry is also lowkey amazing, love that korean vibe 💃🏻 but what really gets me excited is the new location of homestate in santa monica... friday night tex mex is literally my jam 💃🏻🍴 can't wait to try it out! 🤗

man... la's food scene is like the ultimate party 🎉🍴 i mean what's not to love? from xiao long bao at paradise dynasty to the mulberry's korean vibes on sawtelle, december's got all the bases covered 🤩 and then there's hermon's - upscale dining just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water 😂 or home state for that good ol' tex mex friday night fix... it's like la's culinary scene is on fire 🔥 and i'm low-key salty because i missed out on all these amazing openings 🤦‍♂️ can't wait to try them all though! 👌

omg i saw holy basil on my instagram stories on opening day lol what a wait though? 🤯😅 and i'm so stoked they got that famous xiao long bao from paradise dynasty! can't wait to try it out 🍜👌 sawtelle just became my fave neighborhood now too 😂

idk how they manage to get people lining up outside those restaurants like crazy 🤯, holy basil is def going to break some records with that hype 💸. and i'm so down for the arrival of home state in santa monica 🎉, been craving their tacos all year! sawtelle's mulberry looks pretty lit too 🔥, gotta try the korean vibes out. anyway, can we talk about how these new openings are going to change the game for la foodies? are we finally at a point where we have enough options that it's not just "oh cool, another new restaurant" but actually something exciting 🤔

omg the line at Holy Basil was insane 🤯🍴 i mean who waits 2 hours just to try some food lol what's up with that? shouldn't they have a reservation system or something? and btw, sawtelle getting its own korean bistro vibe is pretty cool 😎 but hermons in los feliz sounds like it's gonna be super upscale and boring 🤢 not really my thing. and the new homestate location in santa monica is a good idea i guess, more tex mex options are always welcome 🤤
