Latest SEC coach update spells bad news for Penn State’s coaching search

Penn State's coaching search continues to be a headache for the Nittany Lions as they struggle to find their next leader after parting ways with James Franklin. The veteran coach had been instrumental in rebuilding the program during times of instability and controversy, but his tenure was cut short after three consecutive losses.

Since leaving Penn State, Franklin has already secured a new job at Virginia Tech, aiming to restore the program's reputation as an ACC powerhouse. Meanwhile, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz is reportedly being considered for the Penn State job, having successfully rebuilt the Tigers into a competitive team capable of upsetting powerhouses.

The interest in Drinkwitz has sparked concern among Penn State officials, who are now racing against time to secure his services before he signs a new long-term deal with Missouri. The Tigers' board of curators is set to meet on Wednesday to discuss a proposed contract extension for Drinkwitz, but no announcement is imminent.

The college football coaching carousel remains in limbo as programs like Penn State wait anxiously for the future of Lane Kiffin to be resolved, who is linked to two major jobs in Florida and LSU. With Missouri taking proactive steps to retain Drinkwitz, Penn State may need to act swiftly if it wants to land the highly sought-after SEC coach.

The situation highlights the challenges facing Penn State as they attempt to find a new leader capable of restoring their national championship aspirations. The search has yielded several names, including Drinkwitz, but securing his services before it's too late will be crucial for the program's future success.

Ugh, can you believe how fast the coaching carousel is moving? I mean, one minute Penn State's got James Franklin, and the next he's off to Virginia Tech... 🤯 And now they're after Eli Drinkwitz? Dude was doing a great job at Missouri, but still! He deserves better than this. ⏰

I'm so tired of these coaches switching teams every few years. Can't they just stick with one program for, like, 10 years or something? It's making it impossible for any team to build any kinda consistency. 🤦‍♂️ And what about all the players who are already invested in a program only to have their coach leave? Poor kids, man... 😔

🤔 "The truth is rarely pure and never simple." - Oscar Wilde 🌫️ It seems like Penn State's coaching search is all about finding that perfect recipe to restore their national championship aspirations. With Missouri being proactive about retaining Drinkwitz, it's getting tougher for the Nittany Lions to land him before he signs with someone else. They'll need to act fast if they want to secure a coach who can help them get back on track! 💨

Umm... so like I was reading this thing about Penn State and they're having some drama with finding a new coach 🤔. So James Franklin left and is now coaching at Virginia Tech, which is pretty cool I guess. But now they're considering Eli Drinkwitz, who's doing well at Missouri? Like, isn't he already kinda locked in there? 🤷‍♀️ And what's with all the drama around Lane Kiffin too? It's like, can someone please just make a decision for once?! 🙄

I don't know if I would've liked Drinkwitz as Penn State coach though... he seems kinda... safe 😐. Like, is that really what they need right now? Someone who's gonna play it safe and not take any risks? 🤔 And what about Lane Kiffin? Is he for real with those two jobs in Florida and LSU? 🤑

omg i'm literally on edge waiting for this coaching search to wrap up!! 🤯 penn state needs someone who can bring that winning vibe back ASAP, and i think eli drinkwitz would be AMAZING 🙌 he's already proven himself at missouri, so i trust him 1000% 💯 let's hope penn state acts fast and secures his services before it slips away 😬

I'm all for Eli Drinkwitz being considered for the Penn State job... 😏 I mean, who wouldn't want a coach with a proven track record of turning around teams like Missouri? The fact that Penn State is scrambling to sign him before he gets a sweet deal elsewhere just shows they're willing to do whatever it takes to get the best person for the job. And let's be real, Lane Kiffin's connection to those Florida and LSU jobs isn't exactly a selling point... 😉

I THINK PENN STATE NEEDS TO MOVE FAST ON ELI DRINKWITZ, OR ELSE THEY'LL BE LEFT IN THE DUST! I MEAN, THIS GUY HAS PROVEN HIMSELF AT MISSOURI AND NOW HE'S GOT OTHER COACHES LIKE LANE KIFFIN LOOKING OVER HIS SHOULDER. IT WOULD BE A BIG MISTAKE IF PENN STATE LETS DRINKWITZ SLIP AWAY WITHOUT EVEN GETTING A CHANCE TO TALK TO HIM! 🤦‍♂️

I'm telling you, this is all just too suspicious... first, Penn State loses Franklin and now they're scrambling to get Drinkwitz? It's like they're trying to distract us from something else 🤔. And have you seen Kiffin's connections with Florida and LSU? That guy's got more strings than a puppeteer 💪. Missouri is just playing hardball by trying to lock him down before Penn State even gets a chance. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some shady dealings going on behind the scenes... 🤑

omg u guyz penn state is havng soo much drama rn!! they cant seem to find a new coach lol james franklin just left and now they're chasing eli drinkwitz 🤯 but like seriously can u blame them? he did rebuild missouri from nothing 😂 and now they wanna bring him 2 penn state... thats def gonna be interesting 👀 kiffin is still linked 2 florida & lsu tho... idk wut's up w/ that lol 🤷‍♀️

Ugh, can't believe Penn State is in this mess again 🤯. They're so desperate to find a new coach that they'll settle for anyone who can "restore their reputation" lol. Eli Drinkwitz? Really? He's just rebuilding Missouri from the ashes... what makes him think he can revive Penn State's struggling program? And what's with all these coaching carousel shenanigans? Lane Kiffin is still in limbo and Penn State is scrambling to find someone, anyone, who can lead them back to the top. It's like they're expecting a magic solution or something 🙄. I just hope they don't end up hiring some fly-by-night coach who'll only make things worse 🤦‍♂️.

man... coaching searches are getting crazy 😩! like back in my day, we just had one coach and he was all about the team 🏈. nowadays it seems like every program is trying to poach another coach and it's a never-ending cycle 💼. Penn State needs someone who can restore that Nittany Lion pride, but with all these other jobs opening up, it's like they're playing musical chairs 🎶. Drinkwitz might be the right guy, but if Missouri signs him to an extension, it could be game over for PSU 😱. hope they land him before it's too late... would've loved to see James Franklin come back, though 👍

I was just reading about the latest drone tech and how it's gonna change everything 🚁💥, I mean, have you seen those new swarms of drones that can do like 100+ tasks at once? Crazy stuff! Anyway, back to Penn State... yeah, coaching search is a real headache, but what's with all these people trying to fix it? Can't they just let the guys play some football already? 🤷‍♂️ I mean, it's not like the Nittany Lions are gonna be stuck in neutral forever.

And, Missouri board of curators meeting? sounds like a real drama fest 🎭. But seriously, if Penn State wants Drinkwitz, they should just go for it! He's got experience and all that jazz... might be worth the risk. What do you guys think, am I right or what?

🤔 I'm not sure what the big deal is with Penn State's coaching search... they've been through this cycle before and come out on top! 🏈 James Franklin did a great job, but three losses isn't exactly a reason to throw him under the bus. And now Eli Drinkwitz is being considered? That dude has done some solid work at Missouri, but I'm not convinced he's the answer... 😐 What about Lane Kiffin, though? He's got major connections in Florida and LSU, so wouldn't that be more of a priority for Penn State? 🤷‍♂️

Ugh, this coaching thing is really stressing out everyone at Penn State right now 😬. I feel bad for the fans who are stuck waiting to know who their next leader will be. Eli Drinkwitz seems like a great option, but it's scary when teams offer him long-term deals 🤑. The fact that Missouri is trying to lock him in means Penn State needs to act fast ⏱️. I'm keeping an eye on Lane Kiffin too - if he goes to either Florida or LSU, that would be a huge blow for the Nittany Lions 😳. Fingers crossed they can find someone who can lead them back to national championships 🏆!
