I think the US was right not to attend that climate conference . China's emissions are way higher than ours and it seems like they're just talking about reducing their own problems . The US has been doing its part by switching from coal to gas, so why bother? It's also good for us to send a message that we won't be lectured on climate change by other countries .
I'm actually really interested in the idea of reforming Proposition 13 and making corporations pay more property taxes . That would be a great way to stabilize funding for cities like Oakland, which are already struggling . And instead of raising sales taxes, which is just gonna hurt low-income people, we should have a progressive parcel tax that's fairer . It's time for some real change in California!
idk why ppl are getting all worked up over china's carbon emissions ...US has been doing way better on reducing co2 emissions & i think not attending that conference was actually a smart move ...i mean, who gains from the conference tho? ...just another example of countries trying to score points instead of actually making progress on climate change ...us delegation's absence allowed for real discussion & sent a clear message that we won't be bullied by other nations...and btw, most americans dont even get health insurance through ACA exchanges ...fixing prop 13 or enacting progressive parcel tax in cities like oakland would be way more effective than just raising sales taxes
idk why ppl are so hard on us for not attendin that climate conference . we were right to opt out cuz china's emissions are way higher than ours anyway . plus, our CO2 reduction efforts have been on point over the past decade . china's just tryna get good vibes by touting their own progress . meanwhile, our delegation was free to focus on real issues instead of gettin bogged down in partisan politics . it was a calculated move that showed us ain't afraid of bein lectured by other nations
