Liverpool: Andy Robertson unlikely to join Tottenham during January transfer window

Liverpool is unlikely to sell left-back Andy Robertson to Tottenham in the January transfer window, according to sources close to the club. The 31-year-old Scotland captain has been a mainstay of Liverpool's team since joining from Hull City for £8m in 2017 and has won numerous honors with the Reds, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

However, Robertson is no longer the first-choice left-back under Arne Slot, with Milos Kerkez being preferred. Despite this, Robertson has started just four times in the Premier League this season, and it seems that Liverpool do not want to sell him in the current window.

The club's decision comes after Tottenham made an offer worth £5m for Robertson, who is out of contract in the summer. However, Liverpool have decided that they cannot proceed with the sale, at least for now.

It is understood that Robertson was not pushing for a move from Liverpool and is keen to play more regularly before this summer's World Cup. The Reds are currently sixth in the league, 14 points behind leaders Arsenal, but are in a strong position to reach the Champions League last 16.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has expressed his desire for Robertson to stay at the club, calling him "very important" member of the squad.

I'm not buying it that Liverpool won't sell Andy Robertson this January... like, what's the point of having a £5m offer if they're not gonna even consider it? 🤔 I mean, Robertson's still playing 4 games in the Prem, he's definitely not irreplaceable just yet. And who is Milos Kerkez that he gets priority over one of the best LBs in the league? 🙄 The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced Liverpool are trying to drive up his price for when he's out of contract... and we all know how well that ends 😒.

I'm not surprised they're holding out on selling Andy Robertson 🤔. I mean, he's a legend at this point and if you think about it, Liverpool is just trying to milk his experience for all it's worth. They know they can still get a decent transfer fee from Tottenham and are probably waiting until the summer when teams need fresh players. The fact that Milos Kerkez is preferred is actually a good thing for Robertson, he needs to play regularly and show what he's got before the World Cup 🏆. And Van Dijk saying Robertson is "very important" to him? Yeah right, like that means anything in the world of football 😒. Liverpool will sell him when they want to, not because it's good for the team or Robertson's career...

🤔 so what's the big deal about Robertson leaving? like yeah he's an awesome player and all but 6th in the league is not like Liverpool's gonna get chopped down from the Champions League lol, they're still in a strong position... meanwhile, if Robertson wants to play more regularly before the World Cup, shouldn't he just ask the gaffer for more playing time instead of trying to leave?

🤔 this is bloody mental, lads. Andy Robertson is a Liverpool legend and they're just gonna let him go? £5m from Spurs, that's not even a decent wage for what he brings to the team. I mean, I get it, Kerkez is the new kid on the block but Robertson has done his job for years. What's the point of getting rid of someone who knows the system inside out just because you think someone else can do it better? 🙄

I don't get why Liverpool wouldn't sell Andy Robertson to Tottenham, tbh 🤔 They could use a solid left-back like him, especially with Kerkez not being that reliable... plus £5m is a decent offer, lol 😂 I know Robertson's been struggling for starting spots lately but he's still the captain and has so much experience. It's weird Liverpool would pass up that kinda cash when they're not even trying to win anything right now 🤑 I think it's 'cause the club values loyalty or something... but Van Dijk knows Robertson's value, so maybe there's some truth to that 😊

I don’t usually comment on football transfer news but... I think this is gonna affect Spurs big time 🤔. They were counting on getting Robertson in January and now they're out of luck 😐. Liverpool seems to value their players more than ever, especially now that Van Dijk's spoken up about Robertson. I'd love to see Robertson back in the starting lineup for Liverpool, he's such a game-changer 💪. It'll be interesting to see how Spurs recover from this missed opportunity ⏰.

I'm surprised Liverpool wouldn't sell Andy Robertson, considering how much he's been reduced to lately. He's a legend and deserves better games than what he's getting under Arne Slot. 6th in the league isn't bad, but it's not exactly great either 🤔. Milos Kerkez is an decent back-up, I guess, but Robertson brings something special that you just can't replace. Still, £5m from Tottenham seems like a fair price for him. We'll see how things play out this season and if Liverpool do decide to sell him in the summer... maybe they'll get a better offer 💸

omg u wont belive lol! lfc is defo not lettin robertson go @ Spurs in jan lol 5 mil just isnt enuf 4 a player like him im thinkin 20+ mil would b more reasonable lol & yeah ur right about kerkez lol who didnt see dat comin? anyway lfc seems to be doin alright w/o robertson so far but still wud be sad 2 c him go lol van dikk says hes vital 2 the squad so i think hes prob gonna stay @ lfc 🤔👍

man i think lfc is makin sense here 🤔 they dont wanna lose robinson no matter wat tottenham offer them its not like hes the only decent leftback in england lol theres milos kerkez and joe gomez to name a few so its better 4 liverpool 2 hold on 2 their star player 😂 robertson is a top player 2 but lfc needs 2 think about the future 2 🌟

😒 come on lads, can't they just play him already? he's been starting so few games this season and it's getting ridiculous. £5m is a nice offer, but still, he's not worth that much if he's just gonna sit on the bench all season. 🤦‍♂️ i get that slot wants to give kerkez a chance, but Robertson's experience and leadership are huge for this team. if we want to win something this year, we need him playing every game. ⚽

I'm kinda surprised by this news... I mean, Andy Robertson is like a legend for Liverpool now 🙏. He's been with the team since 2017 and they've won so much together 💪. But at the same time, I can understand why Liverpool might not want to sell him, especially if he's starting to feel like Milos Kerkez is his backup 🤔. Robertson deserves a better run of games, you know? He's been playing for Scotland and trying to get into the World Cup, so it's like he needs to play regularly to be ready for that 🌎. I'm glad Virgil van Dijk wants him to stay, though - he's such an important part of their team 🙏. I just hope Liverpool can figure out a way to balance Robertson's playing time with Kerkez's quality 🤷‍♂️.

I mean, can you blame Liverpool for not wanting to sell Andy Robertson? He's like a rock for that team, and I'm sure he'd be gutted if he was shipped off to Tottenham 🤦‍♂️. I think it's great that Van Dijk is speaking out about how important Robertson is – it just shows the kind of culture they've got at Liverpool, where everyone looks out for each other 👍. And honestly, with Spurs not being in a huge rush to sign him anyway, it seems like Liverpool are making a smart move here 🤔. Plus, Robertson's got his sights set on some World Cup glory – I'd want to stay with my club too if I'm being honest 😂. The Reds might be having an up-and-down season, but they've still got a strong squad and a good chance of getting into the Champions League last 16 🔴⚽️.

I think its weird that Liverpool dont wanna sell Andy Robertson even tho hes not getting as much playing time as he used to 🤔...he's still a top player and i think any other team would jump at the chance 2 sign him for that price 💸...but at the same time, i get why Liverpool wouldnt wanna let him go - hes a leader on & off the pitch and u can tell hes really passionate about the club ❤️...hopefully he gets more playing time soon or else hes gonna be a bit restless by summer 🕰️

🤔 I'm kinda surprised Liverpool isn't selling Andy Robertson just yet. I mean, he's still a great player but Arne Slot's changes to the team have clearly reduced his game time. It's like they're trying to give Milos Kerkez more opportunities, which is fair considering his performances 🙏.

But what's interesting is that Robertson doesn't seem to be pushing for a move out of Liverpool either. He wants to play regularly before the World Cup, which I get, but can he really adapt to playing less games now? It's like he's stuck in limbo 🕰️. Maybe selling him in Jan isn't so bad after all? It'd give Liverpool some cash and space to build their squad for next season... who knows what they'll come up with 😏

I'm thinking LFC is crazy if they sell Andy Robertson! He's been with them since 2017 and just won a Champions League trophy lol what's wrong with that commitment? I mean, yeah, Arne Slot might be giving Milos Kerkez some love now, but Robertson's still the captain for a reason 😂. And £5m is like peanuts compared to his value on the pitch! I think he'd fetch way more in the summer... maybe over €20-€30 million? 🤑 anyway, Virgil van Dijk thinks Robertson's super important so that's gotta count for something, right? ⚽

idk why ppl r saying lfc should sell robertson lol he's still got it! 💪 and lets be real, kerkez just not good enuf 😂 at this point i think robertson wud b mad if he left anot so prob gonna stay 👌 lfc have been pretty decent 2, especially since slot came in 🤔 but yeah, ur right, Robertson's still a top class left back 💯 and van dikk bein vocal abt it shows u just dont wanna lose ur best players 😂

I'm like super sure that Liverpool won't sell Andy Robertson in Jan, but then again, I could be totally wrong 🤔💭... I mean, if Spurs offer £5m and Robertson isn't playing much anyway, maybe he'd consider a move? 🤑 But at the same time, I think Robertson wants to play more regularly before the World Cup, so it makes sense that he'd want to stay with Liverpool. ⏰️ Unless... unless Liverpool just don't want to sell him for whatever reason and they're being stubborn 💁‍♀️... wait, no, that can't be it, right? 😂
