I gotta say, I love how it's like Jack Thorne took all these themes and ideas from Golding's novel, but instead of exploring them in depth, he just kinda... glossed over 'em

. Like, what's up with that? The show's got some great visuals, don't get me wrong - those long shots of the island are super atmospheric - but at the end of the day, it feels like they're trying to distract us from how shallow the story really is

.
And can we talk about the dialogue for a sec? I mean, I know everyone's always saying that modern scripts need to be more "realistic" and all that jazz, but this stuff just comes across as forced and unnatural

. It's like they're trying to explain away every character's motivations instead of letting them just... happen naturally or whatever.
But you know what? I kinda love that Piggy actor, David McKenna - he brings a lot of depth to the role, even if the rest of the cast is kinda meh

. Maybe they should've stuck with that approach instead of trying to overhaul the whole thing... idk, maybe it's just me being contradictor-y
