Lorenzo Lucca transfer news: Nottingham Forest sign Italy striker on loan from Napoli with option to buy

Nottingham Forest have signed Napoli striker Lorenzo Lucca on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy the Italy international in the summer.

Lucca, 25, has struggled for game time with Napoli since joining from Udinese last July, netting just once in 16 Serie A appearances and four starts, while also scoring once in the Coppa Italia.

The 6ft 7in forward brings "specific qualities to our team", according to Forest's global head of football Edu. He has experience playing at the top level, having had spells with Palermo, Pisa, and a loan stint with Ajax.

Lucca's arrival comes as Forest boss Sean Dyche searches for a new striker, with no timeframe on the return of last season's 20-goal top scorer Chris Wood following knee surgery in December.

Forest are also interested in Lucca's Napoli team-mate Mathias Olivera, 28, as they assess their left-back options.

The move is Forest's latest attempt to strengthen their squad and climb up the Premier League table. With the season nearing its end, Forest are five points above the bottom three but still have work to do to avoid relegation.

Lucca's loan spell could provide a boost for Forest as they look to secure their top-flight status in England.

I think this is a pretty interesting move by Nottingham Forest ๐Ÿค”. They're definitely looking to bolster their squad and I reckon Lucca's got some decent qualities that can help them out โšฝ๏ธ. It's not ideal that he's been struggling with game time at Napoli, but sometimes a fresh start in a new league can work wonders ๐Ÿ”ฎ. The fact that they've got an option to buy him in the summer gives them flexibility and makes it worth taking the risk ๐Ÿค‘. With Dyche trying to find a new striker and Olivera potentially interested too, I think Forest are on the right track ๐Ÿš€. Five points above the bottom three is a decent position, but we all know how unpredictable the Premier League can be ๐Ÿ˜ฌ...

๐Ÿค” So, I'm thinking... they got this player Lucca from Napoli and he's gonna be playing for Nottingham Forest now? And apparently, he's not doing that great with Napoli... like one goal in 16 games ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. But hey, maybe Forest can help him score some more goals and make a better impression? I'm curious to see how this works out for them. They're trying to avoid getting relegated, which would be a bummer ๐Ÿ˜”. Fingers crossed that Lucca can bring some fresh energy to the team and help them stay up in the Premier League! ๐Ÿ’ช

I'm not sure about this one... ๐Ÿค” I mean, Lucca's got some decent experience under his belt, but Napoli haven't exactly been using him to its full potential, right? ๐Ÿ”ฅ He's only scored like once every two games for them. Still, the lad's a tall order at 6ft 7in and might give Forest some cause for optimism up front. ๐Ÿคž But what about Mathias Olivera though? ๐Ÿค” Is that just another signing on the way to getting themselves relegated again? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

idk what forest fans r waiting 4 lol this lad might not b da game changer everyone make him out 2 b ๐Ÿค” but if he can score goals n help dem stay up i guess its a decent signing? also, mathias olivera sounds like an interesting pickup, def want 2 see how he fits in at the back

Ugh, this is gonna be a long season... I mean, think about it - we're basically throwing money at Lucca just to get a goal or two from him. Like, what's the plan here? Is Sean Dyche really convinced that he can turn our team around with some Italian loanee? ๐Ÿค” And with Chris Wood out for who knows how long... I don't see how we're gonna make it out of this one without getting relegated anyway ๐Ÿšจ

Ugh ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ, another loan signing just what we need. I mean, think about it, this kid's been struggling at Napoli and now he's gonna come in here and save the day? ๐Ÿ˜’ I'm not buying it. Forest needs a real striker, someone who can score goals not just bring "specific qualities" to the team ๐Ÿค”. And what's with Sean Dyche's strategy? First, he signs Lucca, then he wants Olivera too? It sounds like he's throwing darts at a board over here ๐ŸŽฏ. We need stability, not another player who'll be leaving in the summer ๐Ÿ’ธ.

idk why forest is spending big on lucca? he's had like 1 goal in 16 games at napoli ๐Ÿค” and now he's expected to be the savior of their season? i need to see some numbers, stats, what made napoli want to let him go in the first place? also, a loan spell till end of season? that sounds like a long shot to me... ๐Ÿ† what if he doesn't deliver? ๐Ÿค‘

Omg I'm so done with teams waiting till the last minute to sign new players lol ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Like, how can you not have a plan in place for your striker situation? And now that Dyche is searching for a replacement for Wood, it's like they're playing catch-up all over again ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. Can't wait to see Lucca shine and help Forest stay up ๐Ÿ™. Napoli must be getting a bit tired of having him on the bench, I feel bad for the guy ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Maybe this loan spell will give him some game time and he'll be all set for a big move in the summer ๐Ÿ’ก.

I was just thinking about that weird dream I had last night where I was on a plane flying over mountains and I kept waking up feeling like I'm still floating ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ›ฌ Anyway, back to football... have you guys ever noticed how some players just seem to lose their mojo after joining new teams? Like, what's wrong with Lucca that he can't even get game time at Napoli, one of the biggest clubs in Italy? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘€

And, omg, I was watching this funny video of a cat trying to catch a laser pointer and it just made me laugh so hard ๐Ÿ˜น. Sorry about that! Where was I? Ah yeah, Lucca... I guess he's got some skills if he played for Ajax and all but maybe they didn't give him the same opportunities as they do at other teams ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

So, what do you guys think about Nottingham Forest signing him on loan? Is it a good move or just a last-ditch effort to avoid relegation? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘€

I gotta say, I'm loving this move by Nottingham Forest! Signing Lorenzo Lucca on loan is a great idea, especially with the season almost over. It'll be awesome to see him get game time and score some goals for them ๐Ÿคฉ. The fact that he's got experience playing at top level will surely come in handy. I mean, who doesn't love a good underdog story? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Forest's gotta give it a try, right? They're still 5 points away from the bottom three, so this could be just what they need to boost their chances of staying up ๐Ÿ™Œ

I don't know about this one, you think just 'acquiring' someone is gonna change everything? Is it really about the players or is it about how we fit into our own roles within the team? It feels like a distraction from what's truly important - the collective mindset of Forest FC. The pressure to stay in the league can be overwhelming, and one loan signing might not be enough to shift the momentum.

idk about this loan move lol, i mean i think nottingham forest need all the help they can get, but lorenzo lucca? he's been pretty quiet at napoli and now he's expected to be a game changer for forest ๐Ÿค”... but wait, is that even possible given his lack of form? Edu seems confident in him tho, which kinda raises more questions than answers ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ... what if he just needs a fresh start or something? ๐ŸŒŸ but seriously though, are we really sure this will work out for forest?

๐Ÿค” so nottingham forest think lorenzo lucca is gonna be the answer to all their striker prayers? i mean, 1 goal in 16 serie a appearances? that's not exactly fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ he's got some decent experience playing at top level but i'm not convinced he'll make a huge difference for forest. they're still gonna have to rely on other players to step up and deliver. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ also, mathias olivera is an interesting addition, could be worth keeping tabs on him too ๐Ÿ‘€

I think this is a great example of being patient and persistent ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ’ก. You know, life's like a football season, sometimes you're stuck on the bench watching others get their chances, but with a loan spell or two, you can still make an impact ๐Ÿ†. Lorenzo Lucca's been struggling in Napoli, but that doesn't mean he's lost his value โšฝ๏ธ. He's got top-level experience and skills that Forest are looking to capitalize on ๐ŸŽฏ. Sometimes, it takes a fresh start or loan spell to reignite your passion and performance ๐Ÿ”ฅ. That's what Lucca is hoping for in Nottingham Forest โ€“ a new chapter where he can shine and make a difference ๐Ÿ’ซ.
