Man charged in girlfriend’s Oakland beating death

Local Man Charged with Murder in Oakland Beating Death

A 50-year-old man, Marion Chesher, has been slapped with a murder charge following the suspected beating death of his 63-year-old girlfriend, Meili Liu. According to authorities and court records, Liu's body was discovered badly beaten inside their shared residence on Schyler Street in the Dimond district early Friday morning.

Chesher, who is also believed to be the homeowner, called the fire department rather than police after discovering his partner unconscious. It was the fire department that alerted law enforcement, leading to the eventual arrest of Chesher at the scene. Liu was rushed to a hospital, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries.

As investigators continue to probe the circumstances surrounding Liu's death, they have yet to establish a motive for the attack. Police are still uncertain whether Liu suffered blunt force trauma from an object or punches alone. Despite this uncertainty, Chesher has been taken into custody without bail and is set to face arraignment on Tuesday.

The relationship between Chesher and Liu, who had been together for over 10 years, remains under scrutiny as authorities seek answers about the brutal nature of their demise. The case is a heart-wrenching reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the importance of seeking help when needed.

OMG, THIS IS SUCH A SAD STORY 😩!!! i cant even believe someone would do that to another human being, especially someone who loved them for so long... 10 years is a looong time to be with someone, u would think they know each other's love language by now 🙏. domestic violence is such a real and serious issue, we need more awareness and support for the victims and their families 🤝. hopefully justice will be served and marion chesher gets the help he needs... but i gotta wonder if he was in some kind of emotional crisis or something that led him to do this... 💔

omg i cant even right now 😭 thinking about this poor woman meili liu she was only 63 💔 she deserves so much better than to be brutally beaten by her own boyfriend 🤯 its so sad that their relationship ended like this too they had been together for over 10 years it mustve been so confusing and hurtful for both of them 🤷‍♀️ anyway i hope marion cheshers lawyer gets him the best defense possible 'cause let's be real he needs all the help he can get 💁‍♂️ meanwhile lets focus on supporting survivors of domestic violence and making sure they get the resources they need to stay safe ❤️

I'M SO SAD TO HEAR ABOUT THIS!!! IT'S LIKE, YOU THINK YOU KNOW YOUR PARTNER AND THEY CAN'T HURT YOU, BUT REALLY THEY CAN IN A MILLION WAYS!!! DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS SUCH A DARK THING AND WE NEED TO BE MORE MINDFUL OF OUR BELOVED ONES AND SEE THE SIGNS OF ABUSE!!! LET'S ALL DO OUR PART BY SPREADING AWARENESS AND SUPPORTING EACH OTHER!!!

😔 this is such a tragic story 🤕 my heart goes out to Meili Liu's family and loved ones 💔 it's just heartbreaking to think about what that poor woman went through before she passed away 😩 domestic violence is such a serious issue and we need to keep talking about it 💬 we can't ignore the warning signs or the impact it has on families and communities 🤝 anyone who's going through something similar please know you're not alone and there are people who care about you 🤗

Ugh, this is so heartbreaking 🤕. I mean, what's going on with people these days? 10 years together and it turns out he just loses control completely? Like, what kind of relationship does that say about his character? And the fact that he called the fire department instead of the police is just...red flag 🚒. But you know what really gets me? The lack of accountability for domestic violence. We're always talking about how it's a "silent killer" and we need to do more to help victims, but then we have cases like this where someone gets arrested and that's basically it 🤷‍♀️. Where are the resources? The support? It's time we do more than just condemn these crimes – we need to address the root causes and create a system that actually helps people escape toxic relationships.

I think it's unfair to pin all the blame on Chesher 🤷‍♂️. I mean, we're gonna lock him up without bail? That's harsh, man 😒. He might've done something crazy, but let's not assume he's a monster just 'cause Liu died in his care 💔. What if she was already messed up from her past or had some kinda medical issue that made her more vulnerable to... whatever happened 🤷‍♂️? We should be trying to understand what went down before jumping to conclusions about this dude 👊. It's like, what about the girl who just died? Shouldn't we be focusing on finding out why she got hurt in the first place instead of putting all the blame on her partner? 🤔

Can you imagine if everyone who was in an abusive relationship did what that guy did? Like, Marion Chesher's girlfriend Meili Liu thought she was safe with him after 10 years together... it's just heartbreaking 🤕. Domestic violence is such a real issue and we need to keep talking about it. I'm not saying this guy deserved to do that to her, but we gotta acknowledge the system failed her somehow. And Marion Chesher calling the fire department instead of police? Like, what's going on with his brain right now 🤯. Anyway, I hope he gets a good lawyer and faces justice for what he did.

Man, this one's got me feeling all kinds of somber 🌧️. Like what happened to Meili Liu is just heartbreaking. I'm so sorry she had to go through that. And for Marion Chesher to be charged with murder... it's a whole different level of worry. It makes you wonder what was going on behind those closed doors. 10 years together, and still, things escalated like this? It's like the system failed her in some way.

Domestic violence is such a serious issue 🚨, and we need to keep talking about it until people start listening. These cases don't just affect one person; they ripple out into families, communities... everyone. So let's hope Marion gets the help he needs and that justice is served for Meili 💔.

🚨😱 "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke 💔😢 This case is a stark reminder that domestic violence can happen to anyone, regardless of their background or relationship status. It's heartbreaking to think that Meili Liu's life was brutally cut short in the hands of her own partner. We need to keep talking about this issue and support those who are struggling with it, so we can create a safer world for everyone 🌎💕

Ugh, this is so sad 🤕😔... I mean, I'm glad they're catching the guy who did this to her, but it's just crazy that she had to go through something like that. And it's not even a secret that domestic violence is a huge issue, we learned about it in health class last year 😒... It's so important for people to realize that abuse is never okay and that there are resources available to help. I wish more people would speak out or get involved, like the fire department who did everything they could to save her 🚒💕... Anyway, I hope Chesher gets a fair trial and justice is served 💯

.. this whole thing just feels like it's moving so slow 🤯 I mean, I get that investigations take time, but 10 years together and you still manage to hurt her like that? It's just... unimaginable 💔 And the fact that he called the fire department instead of the police? Like, what was going through his head at that moment? Was he trying to cover something up or did he really think it was an accident? The uncertainty about the cause of death is definitely a factor here, but sometimes I think we forget that domestic violence can be just as deadly as any other type of violence 💥 It's not always about a physical fight; sometimes it's just about control and power. Anyway, my take on this whole situation is that the justice system will hopefully do its part in making sure Chesher is held accountable for his actions... but at the same time, I'm also hoping that this case serves as a catalyst for people to seek help and support when they need it – whether it's a loved one or themselves 🤗

OMG 🙅‍♂️, can't believe this is happening in our own backyard! Like, how could someone just beat up their partner like that? 😱 I'm so sick of these domestic violence cases where the victims are always the ones who suffer the most. It's not just about the physical abuse, it's also about the emotional trauma and control that comes with it.

And the fact that he called the fire department instead of the police is just crazy 🤯. Like, what was going through his mind? Were they planning this all out or did it just happen in a split second? I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing... 😓

man... this story is just heartbreaking 🤕. how can someone do that to another human being? 10 years together, supposed to be loving each other... sounds like a perfect relationship on the surface, but clearly, there was some serious issues going on behind closed doors 😔. domestic violence is a huge problem in our society and it's never acceptable 🚫. can't help but feel so much for Meili Liu's family and loved ones, who are going through this unbearable pain 💔. hope justice is served and her memory doesn't get lost in the system... hope Chesher gets some serious help and support to deal with his issues too 😕.

I'm so shocked that this guy got away with calling 911 like 5 minutes after his girlfriend was beat to death lol, I mean who needs police when you've got firefighters on speed dial, right? 💁‍♂️ Meanwhile, Liu's body was basically just a science experiment for the fire department to figure out what happened. Like, thanks for nothing, I guess? 🤷‍♀️ On a more serious note though, this is such a tragic reminder of domestic violence and how it can creep up on people. We need to make sure these cases are taken seriously and that help is actually accessible when you need it. ⚠️

OMG 🤯 u know what's wild? like, we're all just trying to live our best lives & then this happens 🙏... but I'm actually kinda hopeful about this situation tho 💪. think about it: if Chesher was gonna do this to Meili in their own home, that means he must've had some major red flags warning him that something was off 😬. so maybe this is an opportunity for the community to come together & support survivors of domestic violence? 🌈 like we can always make a difference one person at a time ❤️. also, can u imagine if Chesher got the help he needed before it was too late? 💕 that's the kinda silver lining I'm talking about! 🌞
