Man charged with slashing 2 others on Queens subway platform

A Queens man was taken into custody Friday, charged with four counts of assault after allegedly slashing two men on a subway platform. The 28-year-old suspect, Tyquan Manassa, is facing charges in connection to the assaults that occurred Wednesday on the southbound E train platform at the Union Turnpike-Kew Gardens station.

According to authorities, Manassa attacked both victims, a 42-year-old man and a 50-year-old man, without provocation, resulting in slash injuries to their faces. The men were taken to the hospital in stable condition, but witnesses described the scene as chaotic.

Manassa, who resides at a homeless shelter on Randall's Island, was arrested during an unrelated incident Thursday that occurred in the 25th Precinct. He is currently being held without bail on the four counts of assault.

This case highlights a concerning trend in transit crime: while overall crime has decreased, violent assaults have increased. With over 500 felony assaults reported through November 16 this year, the NYPD reports a slight uptick compared to the same period last year.

Manassa's lawyer had not yet been identified by authorities, but officials stated that he would face additional charges related to an unrelated incident in which he allegedly committed assault and criminal mischief.

πŸ€• Another crazy guy slashing people on public transport... can't even walk down the street without someone getting hurt 🚨. The NYPD needs to get its act together, can't let these incidents spiral outta control πŸ“‰. And what's with the homeless shelters? Is it too hard for people to find a way up when they're struggling πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ? We need more support services, not just toss 'em on the streets and hope for the best πŸ’”.

omg you guys what's going on with this subway guy Tyquan Manassa 🀯 like, slashing 2 people without any reason?? 😱 4 counts of assault ain't enough for him apparently. I'm all for keeping our trains safe but come on, can we do better than just arresting the dude and throwing him in jail already? πŸ’” The stats are kinda sketchy too - overall crime is down but violent assaults are up. Like what's the deal with that? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ 500 felony assaults in one year is a lot. I guess we'll have to keep an eye on this guy and see if he gets the charges stuck in his throat 🚫 https://nyc.gov/html/nypd/crime- statistics.shtml

omg u guys i cant even right now my heart is breaking thinking about those two men who got slashed on the subway πŸ€•πŸ’” i mean what's wrong with this world?! why does someone have to come along and hurt innocent ppl just cuz they're on their way home from work or wherever? anyway i'm so glad the cops were able to catch this guy tyquan manassa (ugh just saying his name makes me shudder) and now he's gonna face some serious charges lol. but seriously tho, this is like, such a concerning trend in transit crime right now. all that violence and bloodshed 🀯 it's just so sad. i hope those 2 men from the subway are doing ok now πŸ‘

idk how the media makes a big deal about this guy... slash two people on the subway and now hes facing 4 counts of assault πŸ€”. i mean, yeah thats not cool but is it really that serious? both victims are stable in the hospital which sounds like a pretty good outcome to me πŸ˜…. and what about all the people who get on public transportation every day without incident? shouldn't we be focusing on those instead of some guy who lost his temper for a sec? πŸ™„. btw, 500 felony assaults in nyc this year is still pretty low if you ask me...

😱 I can only imagine how scary that must have been for those two guys on the subway πŸ€•. Four counts of assault is just outrageous... 500 felony assaults reported already this year? That's just not right πŸ˜”. It's like, what's going on in our city? We need to get to the bottom of this and find a way to stop these senseless attacks πŸ’”. And poor Tyquan Manassa, stuck in that homeless shelter without any support or resources πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. We should be trying to help people like him, not locking them up without bail 🚫.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing 🀯... like, what was Tyquan thinking? Slashing two innocent guys on the subway for no reason? That's just crazy talk 😱. And the fact that he did it without provocation is just red flag after red flag... like, has he ever had any issues with these guys or was it just a random attack? πŸ€”.

And you know what really gets me is how this is becoming a trend in transit crime πŸš‚. Like, we're seeing more and more people committing violent acts on our public transportation system. It's not just about safety, it's about the overall vibe of the city too... I mean, who wants to ride the subway with some psycho lurking around? 😬.

I'm also thinking, why was he arrested at an unrelated incident if he was already suspected of this other thing? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Like, can't they just get their priorities straight and focus on solving one case instead of two? πŸ’β€β™€οΈ. And what's with the homeless shelter connection... like, is that a factor in his behavior at all? 🀝.

Anyway, I guess my point is, this guy needs to be held accountable for his actions πŸ’ͺ. And we need to figure out why these violent acts are becoming more common on our subways πŸš‚. We can't just sit back and let it happen 😬.

Ugh, subway safety is getting so bad 🚫😬! Like, I get it, there are homeless people everywhere and all, but slashing two guys on the platform? That's just crazy talk 😲. And what's with the chaotic scene? You gotta wonder if someone was gonna do something to stop him or what... anyway, glad those two made it out of the hospital in stable condition πŸ™.

And the numbers are crazy too - 500 felony assaults already this year? 🀯 That's not even half of the year over yet! I mean, I know crime rates can fluctuate and all, but this is just getting outta control. We need some real solutions, you know? Like, maybe more mental health resources for homeless people or something? Or even just more security cameras on the trains... I don't know, it's like we're stuck in a never-ending cycle of violence πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

Wow 🀯, violent assaults on subways are getting out of control! It's so sad that these two guys got slash injuries to their faces... πŸ€• interesting how the NYPD is reporting a slight uptick in felony assaults compared to last year, still overall crime has decreased tho? 😊

I'm really worried about what's going on with transit crime πŸ€•. These numbers don't seem right, you know? 500 felony assaults is crazy! And it's not just the actual number that's concerning, but the fact that violent assaults are actually on the rise 🚨. I mean, we've had all this talk about how cities should be getting safer and more livable, and here we are with people being slashed on subways like they're in some kind of bad dream 😱. And it's not just about the victims, but also about the witnesses who have to see that stuff happen and deal with the aftermath πŸ€•. I think something needs to be done, you know? We need to find a way to support people on the streets, like homeless shelters where Tyquan Manassa lives, so they're not turned into some kind of ticking time bomb ⏰.

Ugh, it's just getting crazy on the subways 🚫😩. I mean, four counts of assault is a lot for one guy... what's wrong with people these days? πŸ€” And a homeless shelter resident, too? That's just sad. It's like the system isn't doing its job and people are ending up on the streets where they can get desperate and lose it. πŸ’ΈπŸš«

But you know what's even more concerning? The fact that there are over 500 felony assaults reported so far this year... that's a lot of people getting hurt πŸ€•. And it's not just the victims, either - witnesses said the scene was chaotic 😨. We need to figure out what's causing all these violent incidents and do something about it. πŸ”

Ugh, can you believe this? Another one of these random slashings on the subway 🀯! I mean, I remember when the MTA was all about keeping it safe for everyone. Now it's like a crime scene every other week. I'm not saying I agree with the homeless situation or anything, but does anyone ever think about what we can do to help these people instead of locking them up? I've seen guys just sitting around on the streets, waiting for their next meal or whatever... and then they snap πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. The city's gotta step up and do something more than just throw 'em in jail.

Wow 🀯, 500 felony assaults on the subway is insane! Interesting how the overall crime rate has gone down, but violent attacks are going up. You'd think the subway would be a safer place with so many cameras everywhere πŸ˜•. Hope these guys recover from their slash injuries, it sounds like a pretty traumatic experience πŸ€•.

🚨😬 just saw this news about some guy slashin 2 dudes on a subway platform in Queens 🀯 like what even is goin on? 😩 the thing is, I know we all got our own issues but violence is never the answer πŸ’” and it's gettin to the point where u gotta be worried when ur ridin the train πŸš‚πŸ˜¬ anyhoo, just thinkin bout how this guy got arrested during an unrelated incident lol what a crazy twist 😎

πŸ€• u guys know how crazy crowded subways can get? like, i was at the train station last week & it was packed, right? anyway, this guy Tyquan Manassa, slashing 2 people on a subway platform is just so insane πŸš¨πŸ’£. first of all, assault on 2 ppl without any reason or provocation is just wrong, period. and now he's facing 4 counts of assault & possibly more charges cuz of an unrelated incident? 😬 the fact that violent assaults have increased in transit crime is super concerning tho... like, nyc has to do somethin' about this πŸš”πŸ’ͺ. also, homeless shelters need more resources, man. tyquan was stayin at a homeless shelter on Randall's island & it's crazy how ppl get away with stuff when they're supposed to be gettin help πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

Wow 🀯 the stats on violent assaults are getting crazy with over 500 reported this year it's like something's gotta give. I mean we're all safe at home so what's going on down there in transit? Did the city do enough to prevent these kinds of incidents from happening in the first place? It feels like a lot of people are feeling left out and frustrated, maybe just a cry for help or support?

omg u gotta feel bad for those 2 men they just got slashed on a subway platform like what is wrong with ppl?? πŸ˜±πŸ€• anyway this case is super scary its not just random knife attacks happenin everywhere its like the nypd needs to step up their game or somethin πŸš”πŸ’ͺ but at least the victims are stable which is all that matters u feel? u can never be too careful when ur on the subway tho idk man πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

omg did u hear about dis guy tyquan manassa? slashed 2 dudes on the subway πŸš‚πŸ˜¨ i mean what's going thru his head?! 500 felony assaults reported already this year is insane! i know crime rates r down overall but violent stuff like dis is still super concerning πŸ€• anyone got a problem w/ people just losin it like dat? anyway, glad the victims r stable tho πŸ’ͺ and poor guy manassa is in the pokey without bail, hope he gets some help πŸ‘Š

just heard about this crazy subway attack 🚨😱 and i'm still trying to process it. 500 felony assaults reported already this year? that's insane! 😷 what's going on with our city, right? anyway, i was thinking maybe we need more surveillance cameras on the subways or something... or maybe just more mental health services for people like tyquan manassa πŸ€” he's lucky those two guys didn't end up in hosp 😬 and btw, have you tried that new smartwatch that tracks your stress levels? it's actually pretty cool! πŸ‘•πŸ’»
