McGregor breaks Rangers' resistance as Celtic reach Scottish League Cup final

Celtic's 73-year-old interim manager Will Martin O'Neill has led his team into the Scottish League Cup final, pasting Rangers 3-2 in a thrilling Old Firm derby. As Celtic advanced through to the final for the third time in four years, O'Neill remains in charge, with an uncertain future still hanging over him.

Despite facing criticism and having a somewhat uncertain tenure, O'Neill's team showed resilience, digging deep after a chaotic opening before ultimately taking control. Johnny Kenny rose high to score the first goal as Celtic took an early lead but Rangers fought back through Danny RΓΆhl's shot being blocked by Anthony Ralston. The game then went to penalties, with Rangers' Thelo Aasgaard seeing red for his challenge on Anthony Ralston.

However, Celtic regained control in extra time, Callum McGregor netting from 25 yards before substitute Callum Osmand sealed the win. O'Neill expressed his delight at winning and also joked about being back in management for a few more games. The former manager also hinted that he could be out of a job when Celtic return to Hampden Park in December.

As Celtic prepare for their European campaign against Midtjylland, O'Neill will undoubtedly face further questions over the future of his tenure with the club. While it's unclear whether he'll still be at the helm come December, one thing is certain - Celtic are ready for another push under O'Neill's guidance.

😊 I'm loving how Celtic's team has bounced back from a chaotic start to take down Rangers in such an intense Old Firm derby! 73-year-old Will Martin O'Neill led them to victory, and I gotta say, it was a testament to his team's resilience. The way they dug deep and took control after being behind is just amazing.

I'm still curious about what the future holds for O'Neill, though πŸ€”. He's been under some pressure lately, but this win proves he can still get results. It's gonna be interesting to see how Celtic navigates their European campaign with him at the helm. They're definitely ready for another push, and I'm excited to see what the rest of the season has in store! πŸ’ͺ

Wow! 🀯 What a comeback by Celtic! I mean, 3-2 in an Old Firm derby? That's mental! And O'Neill still holding it together despite all the drama. He must be doing something right, though. Interesting that he's joking about being out of a job soon - maybe he's just trying to keep everyone on their toes πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. One thing's for sure, Celtic are gonna be a force to be reckoned with in Europe this season! 😎

Yaaas, Celtic won the Scottish League Cup final πŸ†πŸ”΅! I'm hyped that they finally took down Rangers in a thrilling Old Firm derby! But, gotta say, Will Martin O'Neill's future is still kinda murky πŸ€”... like, 73 and leading the team to victory? That's no easy feat. His team showed some serious resilience and depth after going down early ⚽️.

I'm not sure what to make of his comments about possibly being out of a job by December though 😬... seems a bit weird considering he's just led the team to a cup win πŸ†. Still, O'Neill's got some magic up his sleeve πŸ’«, and Celtic are definitely ready for their European campaign against Midtjylland! They're gonna smash it in Europe πŸ”₯! But, one thing's for sure... will Martin be sticking around till December? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

🀩 I'm so proud of Will Martin O'Neill and the lads! They really showed their spirit and grit in that Old Firm derby 😊. 3-2 against Rangers isn't easy, especially after they'd come from behind like that πŸ™Œ. And can we talk about Anthony Ralston's heroics in the penalty shootout? πŸ’₯ Thelo Aasgaard getting sent off was a turning point for Celtic and they totally capitalized on it ⚽️. Now that they've reached the Scottish League Cup final, I'm rooting for them to bring home another trophy πŸ†. O'Neill might be facing some uncertainty about his future, but I think he's doing a great job with the team so far πŸ‘. Bring on Midtjylland in December and let's see what we're working with! πŸ’ͺ

Man, what a win for Celtic! πŸ†πŸ’₯ They really showed some spirit and determination out there on the pitch. I'm loving Will Martin O'Neill's vibes, always keeping it light despite all the drama surrounding his future at the club πŸ˜‚. That Old Firm derby never fails to deliver, and I'm glad they could come out on top this time around.

It's a shame that Thelo Aasgaard got sent off in the pen - that was a huge turning point in the game. But Celtic's resilience paid off in the end, and Callum McGregor's goal was absolute beauty πŸ’ͺ. The question is, how long can O'Neill keep going? He deserves credit for sticking it out despite all the criticism πŸ™. I'm actually kinda rooting for him to stay on as manager - he seems like a top bloke who cares about the club. Fingers crossed he gets the nod come December 😊

The plot thickens πŸ€”. Will Martin O'Neill's leadership be tested like a Scottish Highland marathon? On one hand, his team showed grit and determination in taking down their arch-rivals Rangers. But on the other hand, it's clear that Celtic are feeling the pressure to deliver results, especially with European competition coming up. Is O'Neill's unorthodox approach paying off or is he just winging it? The fans want stability, but the board wants success. It's a classic case of short-term vs long-term thinking 🀝. One thing's for sure, Celtic need to be consistent if they wanna make a deep run in Europe and stay ahead of the pack...

🀩 oh man I'm so hyped for Celtic!!! 73 and still killing it in the dugout Will Martin O'Neill is a genius πŸ™Œ that opening was insane! 😲 and to come back from behind like that? πŸ’ͺ O'Neill's got more life in him than most people half his age πŸ˜‚, I don't know what the future holds for him but he's still getting results on the pitch which is all that matters right now πŸ†. And let's be real, a trip to the Scottish League Cup final is no joke πŸ’₯ Midtjylland better watch out in Europe, Celtic are looking fierce πŸ”₯

πŸ€” I mean, that's a crazy comeback by Celtic! 3-2 in an Old Firm derby and still managing to squeak out a win? That's just amazing. On the other hand, it raises some eyebrows that O'Neill is still stuck in this managerial hot seat. He's got like, three years of experience now and no real clear path forward. I get why people are skeptical about his future at Celtic... but at the same time, they did manage to pull off an epic win. Who knows what's going on behind the scenes? Maybe O'Neill is just waiting for the perfect moment to make a move. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Either way, Celtic fans should be celebrating this one! πŸ‘

ugh I cant believe that rangers didnt win this match lol πŸ˜‚πŸ† they were literally begging to lose and yet martin o neill just makes it happen and we get to see more of his genius in the scottish league cup final 🀯, and honestly its about time that celts showed everyone what they're made of - we know you guys are capable of greatness! πŸŽ‰, but seriously though, the future is still uncertain for martin o neill and i have no idea how much longer hes going to be able to keep this gig up...but one thing im for sure about is that celts will not be satisfied with just a league cup win - they want europe 🌍πŸ’ͺ

πŸŽ‰πŸ’₯😊 oh man cant believe those old boys from celtic outsmarted rangers 3-2 πŸ€―πŸ‘ willie o'nell u r a genius πŸ˜‚πŸ’ͺ still dont know how much longer he'll be there tho πŸ€”πŸ‘€ gotta keep an eye on that one β°πŸ‘Š but man, what a comeback from celtic πŸ”₯πŸ’ͺ can't wait for european comp against midtjylland πŸŒŽπŸ†
