Menlo Park authorities arrest two men, recover explosive device, guns and tools

Two Men Arrested in San Mateo County, Seized with Explosive Device, Guns and Tools

In a dramatic traffic stop, two men were apprehended by the San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies on Friday morning in Menlo Park. The arrest reportedly led to the recovery of an explosive device, as well as stolen rifles and tools from a previous burglary in Santa Cruz County.

According to authorities, the two suspects - Jose E. Matute Vaquedano, 25, and Mauricio Peralta Marin, 27 - were seen in a 'suspicious vehicle' traveling northbound on Interstate 280 onto Sand Hill Road. During the stop, deputies observed gloves, flashlights, face masks, and other items commonly used in burglary.

The investigation revealed that Vaquedano was driving without a license, while Marin had an illegal explosive device in his possession. Moreover, authorities found two stolen rifles registered to a Santa Cruz County resident, which were reported missing in a residential burglary the previous night.

Vaqueadano was also on probation for robbery and was prohibited from possessing firearms, which is a serious breach of his parole. The deputies discovered several other stolen tools in the vehicle.

Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of various crimes, including possession of a firearm in a vehicle, possession of an explosive device, and driving without a license.

Sheriff Ken Binder has welcomed the apprehension of these two men, stating that "every gun taken off the street is a potential life saved." This arrest comes after the ouster of former Sheriff Christina Corpus, who was ousted amidst allegations of misconduct and abuse of power.

I'm not buying this 'explosive device' story, you know? ๐Ÿค” Like, how did these two random dudes just happen to have one in their car? And what's up with all the other stolen stuff? It sounds like they were just driving around looking for a score. I mean, 27 and 25 years old, both on probation for robbery... where was this guy going? ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ

And what about the 'suspicious vehicle' story? Did the cops really see them with gloves, flashlights, and face masks? Or is that just some lazy investigation trying to make a quick arrest? The whole thing feels like a setup to me. ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿšจ this is just crazy stuff happening in our country right now... i mean, two guys with an explosive device? it's like something out of a movie, but unfortunately it's real life. and to think they were driving around without licenses and carrying stolen guns... it's just so reckless. ๐Ÿคฏ

i'm also thinking about the parole system and how it can fail people. vaquedano was supposed to be on probation for robbery and you know what he did? broke the rules and now he's facing serious time. ๐Ÿ’”

sheriff binder is right though, taking these guns off the street does save lives... but we need more than just arrests to fix our gun problem. ๐Ÿค

just saw this on reddit... seems like a really intense situation with the explosive device and all.. i dont no how the cops were able to stay calm during that traffic stop tho ๐Ÿ™ its good to hear that both suspects got caught and now they're facing serious charges, hopefully justice is served ๐Ÿ’ฏ

"Keeping your eyes on the stars doesn't make you forget about what's right in front of you," ๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿšจ This arrest shows that law enforcement is always keeping an eye out for potential threats and taking action to keep communities safe. The fact that these two men were carrying explosive devices, guns, and tools meant they could have caused harm to many innocent lives. It's a reminder that vigilance and cooperation between authorities are crucial in preventing crimes and protecting public safety ๐Ÿ”’๐Ÿ’ช

Umm... great, just what we need, more 'suspicious vehicles' on the highway ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜’. I mean, who wouldn't want to travel with a bunch of gloves, flashlights, and face masks in the car? Sounds like they were prepping for a rave party or something ๐Ÿ˜‚. And, like, two stolen rifles in a van? That's not suspicious at all... *eyeroll* ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I guess Sheriff Ken Binder is right, every gun taken off the street does save lives... but, like, shouldn't these guys be doing that voluntarily instead of getting caught by cops? ๐Ÿ’ก. And, oh yeah, another parole breach because someone couldn't follow rules... ๐Ÿ™„. Just what we need more folks behind bars ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’ช.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ˜ฌ what's with the cops just letting them drive around with an explosive device in their car? shouldn't they've done more to verify the vehicle before pulling them over? also, how did they not notice the rifles were stolen beforehand? this whole thing seems super suspicious ๐Ÿค”.

omg what would have happened if those 2 guys weren't caught so fast ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ i mean they had stolen guns and an explosive device in their car? that's super scary for innocent people driving by... did they know where the guns were coming from originally? was it some kind of organized group or just a random burglary gone wrong? also what about the probation breaching part? how often do ppl get caught with parole violations like that? ๐Ÿค”
