Michigan lawmaker proposes ban on state property being used for ICE detention - Detroit Metro Times

OMG u can't imagine how messed up our immigration system is 🤯...ICE detentions are literally inhumane & no one's really talking about it. I got a friend who knows someone who was detained at that North Lake Processing Center in Michigan & they said it was super scary, like, they were treated like animals 😩. And the fact that there have been 32 deaths (including kids 🤕) is just heartbreaking. We need to do something about this ASAP...Wegela's bill might be a step in the right direction 💪, but we gotta keep pushing for change & making our voices heard 👊.

I don’t usually comment but... I think it's crazy that someone has to propose a bill just because ICE is running these detention centers in Michigan 🤯. Like, shouldn't we be able to decide who can and can't live on our land? This whole thing feels super fishy to me. And what's with the "fascism" comment - I don’t get why people are using that word when they're talking about a detention center bill 😐. Can’t we just focus on making sure these places aren't harming anyone and then figure out what happens next? It feels like there's so much more to this story than what's being told 📰.

Ugh this is getting outta hand 🤯! Can't believe some people are using their power to make life even more brutal for others. I mean what's next? Banning state property from having cops or prisons because that would be super convenient... just kidding, but seriously its crazy how ICE is doing everything in their power to keep ppl locked up and scared. Like Rep Wegela said, these detention centers are a total abomination 🚫. People shouldn't have to live in fear of being deported or targeted by agents just because they're trying to start a new life.

I feel for the families who lost loved ones due to ICE's actions, it's so not right that ppl are having to deal with all this stress and trauma. And what about all the ppl stuck in these detention centers, being held against their will? It's just heartbreaking 🤕. We need more people like Rep Wegela who are willing to speak out against this injustice.

I don't get why some ppl think ICE is doing a good thing... they're basically breaking human rights and terrorizing innocent ppl. I guess some people have been brainwashed or something, lol. Anyway, I'm all for making it harder for ICE to operate in Michigan and I hope Rep Wegela's bill passes 🤞. We need more change in this country ASAP!

😡 u gotta be kidding me. ICE needs to get outta my state for good! 💔 these detention centers r a nightmare 🚫 and its only getting worse. kids are dyin in custody and no one's doin anything about it 😤 Rep Wegela is finally speakin up and I'm lovin it 👏 we need more of his kinda courage in the legislature. Michigan's got to take a stand against these ICE thugs 🚫 they're not welcome here, period! 💯
