MLB rumors: Should Phillies add any of top remaining starting pitchers?

The Phillies are Looking for a Shot in the Arm as Free Agency Heats Up. The team's starting rotation is still in flux after an offseason marked by uncertainty, and now it appears that they will be forced to make a decision on who they want to add.

Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, and Andrew Painter will need to put up big performances if they want to regain their spots as the top starters. Meanwhile, Cris Sánchez and Jesús Luzardo are expected to solidify their places in the rotation. However, with six spots already filled and no clear indication of who will be added, it's time for the Phillies to think about bolstering their pitching staff.

The market is loaded with talented starting pitchers looking for one-year deals, but some may prove too pricey. The top contenders include guys like Zack Gallen, Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, and Chris Bassitt. Each of these aces has the potential to be game-changers, but their asking prices are going to be steep.

There's also Nick Martinez, who has shown his skills over the course of four seasons. At 35 years old, he may not have the same level of experience as some of the other options, but he could provide a reliable option for the Phillies at a lower cost.

The Phillies could look at guys like Zack Littell and Jose Quintana as well, who both seem to fit the bill in terms of age, salary range, and potential impact. However, there are also a few arms that might not be the best fit - including guys like Chris Paddack, Tomoyuki Sugano, and Miles Mikolas.

One player on the list that stands out as a great fit is Griffin Canning, who could provide some much-needed depth to the Phillies' rotation. With a projected price tag of around $4 million, he seems like an attractive option for the team looking to spend wisely.

Ultimately, it's up to Philadephia whether they can find someone to fill that final spot in the rotation. They do have the talent to make some noise in free agency and I would say one more pitcher with a good ERA is necessary but not expensive.

The truth will set you free, but it may also be expensive 😅. The Phillies are at a crossroads, weighing their options and wondering who's worth the investment 🤔. One thing's for sure, they need someone to shake things up and bring that extra oomph 💪. With so many talented arms out there, they have to decide if it's worth splurging on one of the big-name pitchers or taking a more budget-friendly approach 🤑. Either way, I'm excited to see how this all plays out!

think they need someone like zack gallen tho 🤔 his ERA was crazy last year and he's still young, 30 yrs old so yeah I think philly should go for him 💼 maybe a one yr deal would be good 4 them tho

I'm loving this time of year for baseball 🎟️! The Phillies are in desperate need of a boost, and I think they'll find someone who can give 'em the push they need. You gotta love guys like Zack Gallen and Max Scherzer - top tier talent, but oh man, those prices 🤑... it's gonna be tough to snag either one without breaking the bank.

I'm kinda rooting for Nick Martinez, though. He's not as flashy as some of these guys, but he's proven himself over four seasons, and at 35, I think he can still bring that reliability. And $4 million is a steal if you ask me 🤑. If they can find someone like Canning or Littell to round out the staff, I think they'll be golden ⚾️. The only concern is those other guys on the list... Chris Paddack? Tomoyuki Sugano? Not sure where the Phillies would go with them 🤔

I think the Phillies are getting into a tricky situation 🤔. With all these top-notch starters out there, it's like they're stuck between a rock and a hard place - either break the bank to get someone who can really make an impact or risk getting left behind in the rotation. I mean, guys like Gallen and Verlander are just too pricey for one-year deals, you know? 🤑

But then again, there's Martinez... he's not as flashy as some of these other options, but he's reliable and has shown his skills over time. And at $4 million, Canning is looking like a great value pick 💸. I think the Phillies just need to keep an eye on guys like that and see who comes in at the right price. Maybe they can find someone who fits the bill without breaking the bank 🤑

🤔 The thing is, when you're an old guy like me 😊, I've seen my fair share of pitchers come and go. But there's something about the Phillies' pitching staff that just feels...meh 🙄. They need someone to shake things up, bring some excitement to the rotation.

I mean, don't get me wrong, Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, and Andrew Painter are all great guys 🤝, but they can't do it alone. And if Cris Sánchez and Jesús Luzardo are solidifying their spots, then someone needs to be there to back them up 💪.

I like the idea of bringing in a veteran like Nick Martinez 👍. He's not a superstar, but he's reliable and can help fill the gap at a lower cost. And as for the younger guys, Griffin Canning seems like an absolute steal 🤑. The question is, will they be able to find someone who can come in and make a real impact without breaking the bank 💸?

idk about gallen though, dude his numbers r awesome but 15 mil a year is way too much for me 🤑 i mean we need someone who can step up and lead our team to victory, not just be a one-trick pony 💪 anyways, think Martinez could do the trick at like half the price lol

I think the Phillies are going to need to dig deep into their pockets if they wanna stay competitive this season 🤑. With so many talented pitchers out there, it's hard to find someone who won't break the bank. I mean, $4 million for Griffin Canning is a good deal but they might have to get creative with some of these other guys. At 35, Nick Martinez seems like a solid choice, though - he's proven himself over the years and could provide some much-needed reliability. But, yeah, that top-tier pitching talent... it's gonna be tough to afford 🤔.

🤔 I mean, it feels like every year, the Phillies are scrambling to find their starting rotation. Remember when they had Cole Hamels back in 2014? That guy was a beast! 🐯 Now, I'm not saying Zack Gallen and Justin Verlander aren't talented pitchers, but it's gonna be hard for them to fit into Philly's system without breaking the bank. 🤑 They need someone who can step up and give 'em some breathing room in that rotation. I think Griffin Canning could be the answer - he's a decent guy with a low price tag... fingers crossed for him! 🤞

I just got back from the most random vacation to Japan 🌴🏖️, and man, it was so crazy! I took a trip to Tokyo and ended up getting lost in this super small village for like 3 hours 😂. Then I stumbled upon this tiny cafe that served the best matcha lattes ever ☕️. Anyway, back to the Phillies... I think they should go for Griffin Canning, he seems like a solid choice at $4 million 🤑. But have you guys seen those new sneakers dropping from Nike? The Air Jordan 1s are supposed to be so fire 👟🔥

omg, Phillies fans are probably freaking out rn 😅 they gotta act fast or their pitching staff might get left behind 💦. Zack Wheeler & Aaron Nola need to bring A-game if they wanna keep those spots 🔥. meanwhile, Cris Sánchez and Jesús Luzardo seem solidified in rotation 🙌 but 6 spots already filled? that's a big gap 😬 gotta fill it ASAP or risk getting taken down by other teams 💔

I think the Phillies are gonna need to make some smart moves to bolster their pitching staff. With Wheeler, Nola, and Painter all vying for spots, they're gonna need someone who can step up and bring that fire 🔥! Maybe they should consider guys like Canning or Martinez? They've got potential and might be able to get a deal done without breaking the bank 💸. And let's be real, 4 million is a small price to pay for some much-needed depth 🤯. I'm rooting for the Phils to make some noise in free agency! 🚀

I think its gonna be a tough season for Philly if they don't get their pitching staff sorted out 🤔💪. Wheeler, Nola, and Painter gotta step up and show what they got or else the rotation's gonna be all over the place 🔄. I mean, Gallen, Verlander, and Scherzer are super talented but $100 million+ is just too much for most teams 💸. Martinez could be a nice cheap option tho 🤑.
