MTV’s ‘Ridiculousness’ with Rob Dyrdek canceled — after a whopping 46 seasons

MTV Axes Beloved Comedy Series 'Ridiculousness' After 46 Seasons

In a shocking move, MTV has canceled its long-running comedy clip series "Ridiculousness" after an impressive 14 years and 46 seasons. The show's host, Rob Dyrdek, 51, will no longer be producing new episodes of the program.

According to sources familiar with the decision, the network is reimagining MTV for the future, featuring a more curated slate that emphasizes fresh formats, different creative voices, and refreshed programming. While new first-run episodes will continue to air on Paramount-owned networks through next year, reruns of "Ridiculousness" will remain a staple on MTV's broadcast schedule.

The news comes as no surprise, given the show's dominant presence on MTV's broadcast schedule in recent years. With over 1,700 episodes under its belt, "Ridiculousness" was one of MTV's longest-running shows in the network's history.

Dyrdek's massive paycheck, reportedly upwards of $32 million per year, also contributed to the show's continued success on the network. His deal included bonuses, executive producer fees, and on-camera pay, making him a highly compensated host.

Throughout its run, "Ridiculousness" has featured a rotating cast of comedians, musicians, and celebrities, including Sterling "Steelo" Brim, Lauren "Lolo" Wood, and Chanel West Coast. The show's format, which features celebrities reacting to ridiculous viral videos, has proven to be a winning formula for the network.

While Dyrdek's departure from the show marks the end of an era, it also signals a new chapter in his career. As he explained in 2021, "I've built all these systems to allow my entire life to be this entire machine." With his signature blend of humor and enthusiasm, Dyrdek will undoubtedly continue to thrive in the entertainment industry.

The cancellation of "Ridiculousness" is a significant loss for MTV, but it also presents an opportunity for the network to reinvent itself and explore new creative avenues. As the entertainment landscape continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how the network adapts and responds to changing viewer preferences.

😔 I'm gonna miss "Ridiculousness" so much! 🤣 Rob Dyrdek did an amazing job keeping us laughing for all those years. But on the flip side, it's cool that MTV is shaking things up and trying new formats. Maybe they'll discover some fresh talent? 💡 And hey, 14 years and 46 seasons is a looong time to be running a show! 👏 I'm sure Dyrdek will do just fine without us 😊. The network might not lose too much heat with this move...

😐 "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." 💫📺 The end of an era is always bittersweet, but it's also a reminder that change can be exciting and full of possibilities 🔄💥

I'm sad to hear that "Ridiculousness" is coming to an end 🤔💔. It's been a staple on MTV for so long, bringing laughter and joy to our screens for 14 years straight. I guess you could say it was the perfect storm of viral videos and celebrity guests - it just kept going and going until now 😂.

The network's decision to rebrand itself is like trying to reinvent the wheel 🚗💪. It takes courage to make changes, but sometimes you gotta shake things up if you wanna stay relevant 🔄.

On one hand, I'm sad to see Rob Dyrdek go - he was an integral part of the show's success and charisma 💥. On the other hand, it'll be interesting to see what he does next - maybe this is his chance to try something new? 🤔

In the end, it's all about evolution and growth 🌱. MTV's decision to cancel "Ridulousness" might seem like a loss, but it could also be a chance for them to explore fresh formats and ideas 🎉.

As Albus Dumbledore once said, "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light." MTV, it's time to shine bright again 💫!

Ugh I'm gonna miss that show 🤣... 46 seasons is crazy! It's like, I used to watch that with my friends when we were kids and now our kids are growing up watching it too... Rob Dyrdek's been doing that for ages, he must be super happy or something 💸. But I get it, the network wants to try new things, maybe they wanna focus on other types of content. It's like, back in my day we used to watch music videos all night on MTV and now it's all about reality TV... I guess that's progress 😂.

omg this is sad 🤕 i grew up watching ridiculousness with my friends all the time that show was the best lol we used to record episodes on tape and watch them over and over 📼 it's crazy that rob dyrdek is making 32 million a year tho 💸 idk how much more of a paycheck someone needs but at least he'll always have ridiculousness as a part of his legacy 😂 mtv should've found another way to keep the show going instead of just cancelling it altogether 🤷‍♀️

man I'm gonna miss "ridiculousness" 😔 it was one of those shows that just always brought the funny 🤣 rob dyrdek's energy is infectious and it's crazy that he was making 32 million a year 💸 the show was more than just a clip comp, it was an experience 🎉 but at the same time i get what mtv is trying to do 👍 they wanna shake things up and try some new formats 🔄 but can't help feeling like we're gonna miss that old familiar weirdness 😅

Oh no 🤕... I'm going to miss that show so much! I've been watching Ridiculousness with my kids since they were little, and we always had the best time laughing together at all those crazy viral videos 😂. Rob Dyrdek is such a great host, too - he's always so energetic and entertaining 🤣. I'm not sure what MTV will do without it, but I'm curious to see what new shows they'll bring on board next year 🎉. My kids are going to miss their weekly dose of comedy and fun 😢. Guess it's time for me to start searching for new shows to watch with them... 😊

I'm kinda surprised they're canceling 'Ridiculousness' 🤔. I mean, the show was always a guilty pleasure for me - it's just so ridiculous (haha) that you can't look away 😂. But I guess MTV wants to try out some new stuff and shake things up. The host, Rob Dyrdek, is making bank off of the show, which might be part of why they decided to keep it going for as long as they did 💸. It's still gonna be weird seeing him not hosting the show anymore 😅.

man... 🤔 like, i'm gonna miss 'ridiculousness' so much lol 😂 it's been a staple on mtv for ages, but at the same time, i get why they'd wanna shake things up & try out new formats. rob dyrek is a genius in his own right tho 💡 he built an entire empire around that show, and it's gonna be weird not seeing him hosting & producing new episodes 📺 anyway, gotta respect mtv's decision to pivot towards something fresh - maybe they'll find some new hidden gems 👀

omg what's mtv going to do now lol i mean i love ridiculousness but its been on for like forever 46 seasons is crazy did they ever have a show with less episodes though? what was it called again 🤔 also how much money does the new host get or will they even need a bigger house now that robyd's leaving 🏠😂

I'm gonna miss watching Ridiculousness 😊👋 I feel like Rob Dyrdek has been doing that show for ages and it's always been so much fun to watch the celebs react to those crazy viral videos 🤣📹 The fact that they're keeping reruns on MTV is a good consolation, but it's just not the same as having new episodes every week 🎉💔 I wonder who will be the next host or who'll be joining the show 🤔
