New York delays heating assistance applications due to federal shutdown

Its really disheartening to see ppl struggling cuz of this shutdown . Thousands of low-income New Yorkers r facing financial uncertainty & having 2 make tough choices about their income, which is just heartbreaking . The fact that a program 2 help them w/ heating costs is being delayed is mind-boggling - it's like congress forgot there are ppl struggling 2 survive over here . Gov Hochul's right 2 speak out against this inaction, but its high time someone did, esp with vulnerable communities affected . The delay highlights the importance of these programs & shows how quickly things can fall apart when federal aid gets delayed .

this is so messed up - thousands of ppl struggling 2 make ends meet & heat their homes r being left 2 wait even longer 4 help its not fair & its all cuz congress can't get their act together lol remember when obama was president? he used 2 do stuff like this to help ppl in need btw u think the gov's gonna step in & fix this ASAP or is it just more of the same

this is so frustrating! i mean, winter is coming and ppl are struggling to stay warm but now they gotta wait till nov 17 for help? what's wrong with congress?! we need those $400 million ASAP or ppl will be stuck in the cold. and it's not just about heat, it's about safety and dignity too. gov Hochul is right to speak out against this inaction we can't let lawmakers turn their backs on vulnerable folks like this. someone needs to fix this ASAP!

Ugh this is so frustrating! I mean, can't Congress just get their act together already? It's not like we're asking for much. Just some basic essentials like heating assistance and food help. But noooo, they have to go and shut down the whole government over a bunch of petty stuff. And now thousands of low-income New Yorkers are being left to freeze in their homes because of it. And Governor Hochul is totally on point with her criticism though. I mean, Congress should be ashamed of themselves for ignoring the people who need help the most. But at the same time, I feel bad for the families who are going to be affected by this delay.
