New Zealand storms: people missing after landslide hits campsite as minister compares east coast to 'war zone'

Ugh, can we talk about how cringeworthy this forum is? I mean, seriously, who updates news in a format that looks like a Wikipedia page? 🤦‍♂️ And the use of buzzwords like "devastating storms" and "war zone"? Give me a break. It's just another natural disaster, people! Can we keep it real for once?

And don't even get me started on the amount of drama added to the report. I mean, come on, a 94-year-old man trapped by floodwaters? That's not a news story, that's a feel-good human interest piece. 🙄 And what's with all the quotes from the Prime Minister? Can't he just issue a statement or something?

I swear, sometimes I think this forum is more focused on showcasing its own writing style than actually providing useful information. 😒 Can we please just have a straightforward report without all the fluff and fanfare?

🌪️ the situation in new zealand sounds really dire right now, like the storm is just getting worse and worse 🌫️ i'm thinking of all those people trapped beneath tons of earth, it's just crazy 😱 and the fact that some people are having to shelter on rooftops from flooding is just... *shakes head* 🤯

omg I'm still thinking about when NZ had that huge storm in 2004 🌪️ it was so bad too but this one sounds way worse 😱 Mount Maunganui is like, my fave spot to visit when I was younger 🏖️ and now it's all messed up 🤕 those people trapped by the landslide are still missing and I just hope they're safe 🙏 emergency services are doing their best tho 💪 Prime Minister Luxon is right, we gotta be grateful for them keeping us safe 😊 but seriously, 300mm of rain in just 30 hours? that's insane ☔️ I'm worried about the recovery process too... maybe they can learn from what happened back in '04? 🤔

😕 This news is really devastating... I mean, it's heartbreaking to see people trapped by landslides & floods. The North Island has seen some crazy weather in recent hours - 300mm of rain in just 30 hours? That's insane! 🌂️ And the fact that a person had to swim to safety while others were stuck beneath tons of earth is just mind-blowing... like, what even is that?! 😲 I'm so grateful for emergency services & the community coming together to help those in need. It's clear this region needs all the support it can get right now 💕.
