NFL athletes help students celebrate new sports field in East Palo Alto

NFL Legends Visit Revamped Field in East Palo Alto

The Los Robles-Ronald McNair sports field in East Palo Alto has undergone a major transformation, thanks to the efforts of elected officials and professional athletes. The $5.5 million renovation, funded by donations, has transformed the field into a regulation-sized football stadium that can also be used for soccer.

On Wednesday, NFL players Mekhi Blackmon of the Colts, Rejzohn and Nahshon Wright of the Saints and Bears, attended a celebration to mark the completion of the project. The athletes reminisced about their childhood experiences playing on the field, which has now been revamped with modern facilities.

"It's outstanding, it's so cool," said 11-year-old Kulia Lutui, who attends Costano School of the Arts. "Looking at it, it gives me an idea of what the experience at a real NFL field looks like." Jairo Juarez, another student from the same school, echoed similar sentiments, saying that playing on the field felt like he was one of the football players.

The renovation has been hailed as a significant investment in the community, with Ravenswood City School District School Board member Jenny Bloom noting that it's a testament to the grit and determination of East Palo Alto residents. The field is now open for public reservations and after-hours community use, providing young athletes with a world-class facility to hone their skills.

The renovated field comes ahead of major sporting events in the area, including the Super Bowl and World Cup, which will bring international attention to the city. As one of the players who once called the field home, Rejzohn Wright said that seeing its transformation was "a surreal moment" for him and his family.

OMG, like, finally! A sports field in East Palo Alto that's not a total dump πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ! I mean, $5.5 million is a pretty penny, but it's worth it to see the looks on those kids' faces when they play on this renovated field 🀩. It's amazing how something as simple as a sports field can bring so much joy to people's lives. And can we talk about how cool it is that NFL legends are coming back to visit their old stomping grounds? I guess you could say the field has come full circle, from childhood memories to adult pro-athlete vibes πŸˆπŸ‘. The Ravenswood City School District really stepped up their game with this renovation – now those kids have a chance to level up their sports skills πŸ’ͺ!

😊 OMG this is amazing! I mean, can you even imagine playing on a real NFL field as a kid? 😍 I'm so glad they invested in this community and made it happen. It's not just about the football, it's about giving young athletes a chance to level up their game 🏈πŸ’ͺ. The fact that it's open for public use is like, totally awesome πŸ‘. I wonder if they're gonna have any summer camps or clinics for kids to learn from the pros? πŸ€”

Man, this is amazing! I mean, can you believe how far East Palo Alto has come? The new field looks insane 🀯! I remember playing on those same fields when I was a kid and it's crazy to see how much of an upgrade they've made. It's like, the NFL legends are coming back to visit and they're all about it 🏈. I love that the community got involved in making this happen, it's really cool to see people from different walks of life come together for a common goal. Now, the kids can actually use facilities that will prepare them for the big leagues. The Super Bowl is gonna bring so much energy to the city, and I'm hyped to see what all the fuss is about πŸ˜ƒ

πŸ€” I'm all for it...but is $5.5 million really the best use of funds? I mean, can't we put that into actual programs for underprivileged youth instead of just a fancy sports field? Still, I get why community support matters. Seeing kids like Kulia and Jairo get to play on a real NFL field is pretty cool...but what about access for those who can't afford it? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

omg i'm loving this renovation!! 🀩 the new field is literally a game-changer for kids in east palo alto - they deserve to have access to world-class facilities like this 🌟 it's awesome that nfl legends are coming back to visit too, it's like they're passing on their skills and experience to the next gen πŸ‘ and can we talk about how beautiful the design is? from what i can see in the pics, the layout looks super modern and sleek πŸ’» definitely would've liked to see some creative use of negative space though πŸ€” but overall, kudos to everyone involved for making this happen πŸŽ‰

🀩 Can't believe the NFL legends are giving back to their roots like this! πŸ‘ It's awesome to see East Palo Alto get a sweet new stadium 🏈🌳, now it's time for youngbloods to take over πŸ’ͺ

I'm so hyped about this renovation in East Palo Alto 🀩! The $5.5 million investment is a total game-changer (pun intended) 🏈 for the community, especially for kids who want to play sports but don't have access to top-notch facilities 🀝. It's amazing to see how it's brought everyone together, from elected officials to NFL legends like Rejzohn Wright πŸ’ͺ! I'm so glad that young athletes like Kulia Lutui and Jairo Juarez get to experience playing on the field now 😍. This is a total win-win for East Palo Alto, and I'm excited to see how it'll impact the local sports scene 🌟! #RenovationRevival #EastPaloAltoSports #CommunityFirst

OH MY GOSH, I'M SO HAPPY TO SEE THIS FIELD GETTING THE UPGRADE IT DESERVES!!! πŸˆπŸŽ‰ IT'S AMAZING TO THINK ABOUT ALL THE KIDS LIKE KULIA AND JAIRO WHO'VE BEEN PLAYING ON THAT FIELD FOR YEARS AND NOW THEY HAVE A CHANCE TO SHOW OFF THEIR SKILLS AT A REAL NFL LEVEL! 🀩 THE COMMUNITY COME TOGETHER TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN AND IT'S TRULY INSPIRING TO SEE PEOPLE WORK TOGETHER FOR A COMMON GOAL. I HOPE THE KIDS CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITY AND GROW INTO SOME AMAZING ATHLETES! πŸ†

I'm so glad they finally did something with that old field... I mean, it's not like it was just sitting there collecting dust 🀣. It's amazing how a few million bucks can turn a neglected park into a full-on NFL stadium πŸ€‘. I'm sure the locals were all on the edge of their seats waiting for this to happen... like they've been waiting for years πŸ˜‚. On a serious note, it's awesome that the Ravenswood City School District is investing in the community and providing young athletes with a top-notch facility πŸ’ͺ. Maybe now those kids can finally live up to their "American Dream"... or at least not feel like they're stuck playing soccer in some dodgy old field πŸŒοΈβ€β™€οΈ.

OMG this is so cool 🀩! I'm loving how they're making it accessible to everyone in the community, you know, not just super rich families or whatever. It's gonna be awesome having the Super Bowl and World Cup stuff coming through, but at the same time I hope they don't mess up the vibe of the area, you feel?

OMG 🀩🏈 I'm loving this renovation project in East Palo Alto!!! It's amazing to see how a community can come together to make something amazing happen πŸ’ͺ🌟 The fact that the field is now available for public use is just incredible - it'll be a dream come true for all those young athletes out there trying to chase their football dreams πŸˆπŸ’¨. I mean, who wouldn't want to play on a field that was once home to NFL legends like Rejzohn Wright? πŸ”₯ It's a testament to the power of community spirit and how sports can bring people together πŸŒŽπŸ’•. And let's be real, it's gonna be lit when they host those major sporting events - I'm talking Super Bowl vibes 🏈πŸ”₯!

πŸ€” I'm loving how they're giving a rep to this East Palo Alto field! It's dope that they got the NFL legends involved in the renovation process too πŸ™Œ, it shows the community is getting some serious love ❀️. And can we talk about how awesome it is for the kids to have access to such a top-notch facility? It's giving them the chance to level up their game and who knows, maybe one day they'll be playing in the NFL themselves πŸ’ͺ. I'm also feeling the Ravenswood City School District's commitment to investing in the community - it's all about uplifting the youth and providing them with opportunities 🌟.

OMG 🀯 have you seen the pics of the revamped NFL field in East Palo Alto? 🏈 It's literally mind-blowing! The kids who used to play on it are now like "wow we played here?" πŸ˜‚ and I can imagine how cool it must be for them to see it all grown up and fancy. $5.5 million is no joke πŸ’Έ but I guess when you got the community behind it, anything's possible 🀝. Can't wait to catch a game there with my squad πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈ

🏈πŸ’₯ I think it's so awesome that these NFL legends are visiting their old stomping grounds, especially now with the new and improved field! It just goes to show how important community support can be in making a real difference. And can you blame them for being nostalgic? 😊 Playing on a field that was once a hub for local kids like Jairo and Kulia must have been an incredible experience, even back then. The fact that it's now open to the public is just amazing – who wouldn't want to play on a world-class facility?! 🀩 It's gonna be interesting to see how this new field brings in some international attention for East Palo Alto, especially with those major sporting events coming up! πŸŽ‰

I gotta say, this renovation is a big deal! I mean, it's not like they're just slapping some new paint on the wall, they've actually put in some serious work here 🀯. $5.5 million is no joke, especially considering it's for a community that doesn't always have access to top-notch facilities.

It's great to see NFL legends coming back to where it all started and being supportive of the community πŸ™Œ. And can you blame 'em? This field has been revamped into a real showstopper - regulation-sized, state-of-the-art... even a soccer field! It's like they're saying, "Hey, we got this!" 😎

But what I'm really excited about is that this opens up opportunities for the youth in the area to develop their skills and maybe even get discovered πŸ€“. The fact that Ravenswood City School District is on board with this project is huge - it's all about providing a world-class facility to level the playing field, literally.

I mean, we're talking Super Bowl and World Cup events coming up, so this city is gonna be shining bright πŸ”₯. It's not just about the sports, though... it's about community pride and showing that East Palo Alto can put on a show πŸŽ‰.
