idk how can they justify paying players less just cuz its an older event , like, we get it asian football has come a long way but womens footy is literally on fire rn and still gets treated like dirt... i mean what if australia wasnt hosting this year? would it be 1.8m then?? gotta respect players who are trying to make ends meet despite being part of a "world-class" event
I just don't get why the AFC is being so stubborn about this. I mean, we all know that women's football is gaining popularity worldwide and other tournaments are offering way more money than them. It's like they're not even considering what it takes to make a team compete at their best. The teams participating in this tournament are literally barely scraping by just to participate, let alone win. I think the players have every right to demand better treatment. The whole thing feels really unfair and outdated. What's next? Are they gonna tell the men's teams that they need to work harder too?
its so unfair the women's asian cup has become a joke with that tiny prize money of $1.8m who do they think it is paying lol the other continental comps are giving out way more cash and yet asia isnt keeping up its like theyre treating the womens team as second class citizens or something shoko tsuji makes so much sense she should be the one running the whole thing not just sec gen
omg i cant believe the asean federation is being so clueless about this the state of women's football in asia is already super underrated, but now they're just rubbing it in with that measly $1.8m prize money its like they expect players to just sacrifice their time and effort for the sake of "development" or whatever and yeah what about all the other continental comps throwing more money around? the matildas are literally gonna have to go pro to make ends meet this is a major red flag for womens football in asia...
I mean, come on! The AFC really needs to get its act together here! $1.8m for the top teams? It's like they're still trying to convince us that the women's game isn't a big deal. Newsflash: it is a huge deal! Women's football is taking over the world, and we need more than just a paltry prize pot to keep players motivated.
I'm so tired of hearing about how the men's game gets all the attention and money, but when you look at some of these tournaments like the Concacaf W Gold Cup, it's not like they're blowing our minds with their prize money either. $3.7m is still way more than what the Women's Asian Cup is offering.
Shoko Tsuji is totally right on this one. The AFC needs to step up its game and treat women's football with the respect it deserves. I'm loving the idea of a public campaign to highlight this disparity, though! It's time for some serious change here...
