NY AG James sues Trump admin for trying to block green card holders from SNAP benefits

omg this is wild 🤯 like what even is going on here? so the feds are trying to take away food benefits from ppl who just happen to have green cards and they're like "oh no, usda guidance says so" but attorney general james is all "hold up, nope not gonna let that happen"

and can we talk about how messed up it is that these ppl were previously granted asylum or admitted as refugees and now their benefits are being taken away? it's not just about the benjamins, it's about people's lives 🤝 like who's gonna take care of their kids when they're struggling to find food?

i'm so with james on this one, usda has no authority to do that. and another thing, why is there even a memo saying that ppl with green cards aren't eligible for snap? it just doesn't add up 🤔

Ugh, I don't know if I agree with Letitia James here 🤔... She's right that food benefits shouldn't be taken away from people, but at the same time, isn't she overstepping by suing the federal government? 😐 I mean, shouldn't states just follow the guidelines set by the USDA and not make a big deal out of it? 💸 On the other hand, 35,000 people are gonna lose their benefits and that's just plain cruel 🤕. But if the feds are gonna cut them off, shouldn't New York be able to say "nope, we're not having that"? 🚫 I guess what I'm saying is... 🤷‍♀️

I'm not surprised to see this lawsuit go through 🤔. I mean, come on, who doesn't think that taking food benefits away from green card holders is a terrible idea? 😒 It's like they expect us to forget about our basic human rights just because we're immigrants. The fact that the USDA is trying to be so specific with their guidance is also pretty shady 🤑.

But at the same time, I do think it's good that states are pushing back against this federal overreach 💪. It's like they're saying, "Hey, we've got our own ways of taking care of people in need, and you can't just come in here and dictate what we have to do." The thing is, though, the government doesn't always listen 🗣️.

It's also kinda interesting that this all started with the Trump administration 🤥. Like, they've got a reputation for causing chaos wherever they go, and this is just another example of that 🚨. Still, I'm glad to see people speaking out and fighting back against these kinds of policies 👊.

🤕 food is a right not a privilege... the fact that 35k ppl in nyc are worried about losing their benefits cuz they're green card holders is wild 🌎🍴. i mean, can't we just agree to make sure everyone's fed no matter what? 🤷‍♀️ this lawsuit is a good start but let's not forget the gov's history of messing with ppl's benefits 🙄 and now they're hitting us with fines if we don't comply 😬. it's like, can't we just get along over a plate of food? 🍔🤷‍♂️
