I'm not sure about these safety zones around schools and houses of worship... it's like, I get where they're coming from, but at the same time, can't we just have a respectful conversation instead of physical barriers ? I mean, if protesters are going to chant antisemitic slogans, isn't that already crossing some serious lines? I don't think we should be locking down our synagogues like it's some kind of war zone... but on the other hand, if people are feeling threatened, maybe we need something more than just words . It feels like a catch-22, you know?
idk why ppl are being so cautious about this new bill ...i mean, cant we just make schools & houses of worship safer without sacrificing our freedom to protest? my friends who are jewish actually think its a good idea tho, they're tired of feeling scared when they walk out of their synagogue after shul. the 25ft barriers sound kinda extreme tho...i get that gov kathy hochuls proposal is trying to address antisemitism but isnt it time we just talk about this stuff instead of resorting to physical measures? also whats up with ppl saying its a restriction on free speech? like, protestin outside a synagoge is one thing, but being able to enter & exit without gettin harassed 2? that dont seem like an unreasonable ask 2 me
need to weigh freedom of speech vs community safety... can't just have protesters chillin' outside synagogues , but at the same time gotta be careful not to overstep ... think we should focus on creating inclusive spaces where ppl feel safe to express themselves without fear of backlash
idk why ppl gotta be so divided about this... just want 2 protect ppl from gettin harassed at shoolz or church they got a point about free speech, but u can't just chill out & let ppl walk all over others, rite? safety zones cld b a good thing if done right... maybe need 2 find a happy medium between protection & letting ppl express themselves
