A 28-year-old man from the Bronx has been slapped with a string of charges in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old woman who tried to break up a bar fight. Cristian Moya, whose address is listed as Kingsbridge Terrace, allegedly stabbed Pamela Almonte Cabrera multiple times in the chest outside Mama Dora Bar and Lounge early Sunday morning.
Eyewitnesses describe the scene as chaotic after a dispute between two men turned violent, spilling onto the sidewalk. According to police, Cabrera attempted to intervene, only to be struck by Moya's small knife. The victim was rushed to BronxCare Health Systems before being transferred to Lincoln Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Moya was arrested at his home Tuesday evening, two days after the attack. His boyfriend, who had been involved in the fight, is not facing any charges. However, Moya now faces a slew of serious allegations, including murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon. His attorney's information has not yet been disclosed.
The NYPD says that an investigation into the incident is ongoing, with detectives reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to piece together what led up to the attack.
