Ocean City's Winter Warrior Challenge to Return for Presidents Day Weekend
Get ready for a day of grit and determination as Ocean City welcomes its annual Winter Warrior Challenge back on February 14th. This obstacle racing extravaganza promises to deliver nonstop action, with participants facing off against grueling courses that push them to their limits.
For those who don't mind braving the cold air, sand, and sandal-sweat-inducing humidity, the event offers a unique blend of athletic competition and community fun. The 2.5-mile obstacle course for adults is just one part of the experience, which also features a kids' challenge course designed to get younger participants moving and laughing.
The main Winter Warrior course itself is an exhilarating test of endurance, with ten obstacles packed into two and a half miles. From tire runs to sand mounds, floating steps to cargo net climbs, competitors will need to summon every last ounce of strength and agility to complete the course.
While the individual waves for the main event start at 9 am and 9:30 am, teams are given a slightly later slot, with team members staying together throughout. For those who want to give it a try but don't have time for a full day's worth of training, there will be an open session from noon to 1 pm, so long as younger participants are accompanied by an adult.
The event is not just about winning, though – everyone who finishes takes home a coveted Winter Warrior finisher shirt. Awards will also be handed out to top competitors across various age groups, making the experience all the more special for those who put in the hard work and dedication.
For kids aged 5-12, there's an alternative challenge course featuring monkey bars, agility elements, and even a rock wall – perfect for getting them involved in some healthy competition while having a blast. Kids can enjoy the obstacle course from 10 am to noon, followed by family relays from noon to 1 pm, and then open play from 1 to 2 pm.
If you're feeling competitive with friends, consider entering the separate team challenge – it's a fun way to work together while tackling events like fire truck pulls, sandbag carries, tire flips, and even a simulated rescue mission. Top teams will take home awards as Winter Warrior Champions.
While the event takes place outdoors, the Civic Center is on hand to provide warmth, music, hot chocolate, and sponsor spotlight tables – making it an ideal spot to socialize before or after your obstacle course adventure.

I mean, who doesn't love running around in the freezing cold while covered in sand and grime? It's not like you'll be more productive or focused afterwards, but hey, it's a great excuse to get outside and pretend you're a total boss. The fact that they have a "kids' challenge course" is just code for "get your tiny humans dirty and entertained". I'm not saying I wouldn't do something silly for fun, but this sounds like a recipe for dehydration and post-event hangry tantrums...
