On Polymarket, 'privileged' users made millions betting on war strikes and diplomatic strategy. What did they know beforehand?

I gotta say, prediction markets are still super sketchy 🤔. I mean, think about it - people with access to sensitive info using that knowledge to jack up their bets and potentially sway decisions 💸. It's like they're playing a rigged game 🎲. And now we've got politicians getting in on the action too? That just doesn't sit right with me 😒. I'm all for transparency, but this is just too much of a risk. We need to make sure our leaders aren't using their power for personal gain or manipulating markets for their own advantage 💥. The new bill is a start, but it's still not enough - we need to take a hard line against insider trading in these sites 🚫.

🤔 I just found out about this and I'm kinda surprised how long this thread has been up lol. Anyway, I think it's a good idea for them to introduce that bill, even if it's not a total ban. Like, who wouldn't want some level of accountability from government officials? 🤷‍♀️ But at the same time, I can see why they might not wanna totally shut down prediction markets - they do seem to have the potential to make markets more efficient. 💸 Still, I guess it's all about finding that balance. And yeah, the whole insider trading thing is just so sketchy... how are we supposed to know who's legit and who's not? 🤔

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with this idea of giving government officials access to non-public info just so they can profit from prediction markets 🤔. It's like, if you're already in a position to influence decisions, shouldn't you be focusing on making the best decision for the country rather than your own bank account? 💸 Also, I don't think it's fair to say that allowing insiders to trade on non-public info would necessarily make markets more efficient - it just seems like a way to game the system 🤑. And while I appreciate the effort to regulate this stuff, a total ban seems like the best approach in my opinion 🔒.

🤔 so like if there's gonna be a bill banning gov officials from tradin on prediction sites... how's that gonna work exactly? like, what happens to ppl who already did tradin on info they shouldn't? 🤷‍♀️ should we just leave them out of the new rule or what?

🤔 I gotta say, prediction markets are like that one friend who's always trying to game the system 🤡. On one hand, they're all about efficiency and giving people a chance to make their voices heard 🗣️. But on the other hand, when you've got government officials and politicians on the platform, it's like, how can we trust that they're not using their power to manipulate the market? 💸 It's a slippery slope, you know? 🎉

And I'm all for the bill in the US Congress trying to ban government insiders from trading on prediction sites. It's a step in the right direction, but like, come on, let's be real, we need more than just a partial ban 🔒. We need to make sure that these platforms are transparent and accountable, or else we're just gonna end up with a bunch of insiders gaming the system again 🤦‍♂️.

I'm all for progress, but I don't wanna see us lose sight of what's really important here – making sure our government officials are acting in the best interests of the people, not just themselves 💕. That's the real challenge ahead 🔝.
