OpenAI releases a cheaper ChatGPT subscription

OpenAI has launched a cheaper subscription tier for its popular AI chatbot ChatGPT, called ChatGPT Go. For just $8 per month, users can enjoy more messages, file uploads, and image generation than those on the free tier. The new pricing model is aimed at everyday users who want to tap into the power of AI without breaking the bank.

Go subscribers will have access to OpenAI's fast version of the latest AI model, GPT-5.2 Instant, which currently limits free users to 10 messages with the same model every five hours. In contrast, ChatGPT Go users will receive "10x" more messages with GPT-5.2, although the exact number is not specified.

The new tier also offers a greater context window for non-reasoning requests, currently at 16K for free users and 32K for those on the Plus subscription tier. However, the exact capacity of the context window for Go users remains unknown.

Another key difference between Go and the free tiers is ad pricing. OpenAI says it will start running ads in ChatGPT Go in the US soon, while Plus and higher-priced subscriptions remain ad-free.

The launch marks a significant expansion of ChatGPT's accessibility to everyday users worldwide. The AI chatbot has already been popular in India since its initial release last year, and its adoption has been strong across various markets.

Umm so like i was thinking of getting into ai chatbots and stuff... $8 a month is kinda cheap right? πŸ€” but like how does it work that ad pricing thing? are they gonna show me ads when i'm trying to get some help with my math homework or something? πŸ˜‚ also why cant we have more context window on the free tier?! 16k feels so limitin' 🀯 and whats up with the GPT-5.2 Instant model? is it like a super powerful one or wut? πŸ’»

Ugh, can't believe they're gonna start running ads on the free tier πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. $8 a month for more messages is okay, I guess, but having to deal with annoying ads is just not right πŸ˜’. And what's up with the ad pricing? It's gonna be like they're nickel-and-diming us to death. I mean, I get that they need the cash, but can't we at least get some decent ad-blocking features or something? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

And another thing, why do they have to make it sound so "everyday user-friendly"? It's still just a bunch of code and algorithms under the hood. Don't try to sugarcoat it for our sake, you know? πŸ˜‰ The free tier is already limiting enough, now we're gonna be subjected to inane ads? Give me a break 🚫.

I guess it's good that they're making ChatGPT more accessible, but I'm not sure if the cost-benefit ratio makes sense for everyone. More power for $8 sounds like a decent deal, but only if you don't mind the ads... πŸ€”

ugh, they're gonna run ads on chatgpt go? $8/month is still way too much for the average person, especially if they just wanna use it casually... think about all the people who already struggle to pay their bills πŸ€‘. and 10x more messages is a pretty big claim - what's the real number anyway? seems like openai is just trying to get as many people on board before they start making bank off the ads πŸ’Έ. plus, if they're gonna charge for it, why not make it worth our while with a better interface or something? πŸ€”

Just got the news that OpenAI dropped their new "ChatGPT Go" subscription tier for $8 a month! That's a pretty sweet deal if you ask me. I was just thinking about how expensive it is to be an early adopter of AI tech, and now people can try out the power of chatbots without breaking the bank πŸ€‘. The faster version of GPT-5.2 Instant is gonna make it way more fun to experiment with, too! My only hope is they don't start showing ads in the US anytime soon πŸ˜•. Still stoked that more people are getting access to this tech tho πŸ‘

I don’t usually comment but I have to say, $8 a month is really cheap for what you get πŸ€‘. I mean, the free tier is still pretty limited compared to what we're used to with other tools like Google Docs or Slack. And the fact that they're opening up this new tier to everyday users is super awesome 😊. It's amazing how AI is making tech more accessible and affordable for everyone. And, I don’t know about you guys, but I'm kinda excited to see ads on ChatGPT Go πŸ€”... I guess it's a trade-off for the lower price tag πŸ’Έ. Either way, this is a big win for OpenAI and AI enthusiasts worldwide πŸ‘

I'm not sure about this new tier thing... $8/month is still a bit steep for me. I mean, what if they start showing ads? I don't want some random ad popping up in the middle of my conversation with the chatbot πŸ€”. And 10x more messages sounds like a lot, but how reliable are we talking here? What if it just spits out garbage responses? I'm good with the free tier for now...

I mean, think about it... $8 a month for all this advanced AI power? It's like, the more we dive into these tech advancements, the more I wonder if we're trading our values for convenience. We're talking about an AI chatbot here that can generate image after image with just a few prompts - is that progress or just another distraction?

And what's the cost of all this convenience? Ad revenue? That's like, selling out, right? But hey, I guess it's not all bad... for those who want to tap into AI without breaking the bank. But are we really just "everyday users" or are we just becoming part of some bigger experiment?

I'm not sure about this ChatGPT Go thing... is it a step forward or just another way to normalize AI in our lives?

omg can't believe they're making chatGPT more affordable 😎! $8 a month is crazy cheap for what you get, plus the faster model is a game changer πŸ€–πŸš€ instant access to gpt-5.2 must be so much fun to play with all those extra messages πŸ“±πŸ’» the only downside is the ads... hopefully they don't ruin the experience πŸ˜” still super hyped about this move tho, can't wait to see how far chatGPT goes πŸš€

idk why openai is doing this, but i think $8/month is pretty reasonable for the new tier. i mean, i've been using the free version and it's cool, but chatgpt go seems like a no-brainer for ppl who want to use it more. 10x more messages with the same model? that's some serious productivity power πŸ’». also, ad pricing is just gonna be a thing now, i guess. can't say i'm excited about ads in my chatbot, but i get why they need the cash πŸ€‘. overall, i think this is a good move for openai and us users who want more from chatgpt πŸ‘

I'm soooo down with the new pricing model πŸ˜’. I mean, who needs more messages or file uploads for $8 a month? It's just an excuse for OpenAI to get us hooked on their chatbot and then nickel-and-dime us when we're already invested πŸ’Έ. And what's up with the ad pricing? Running ads in ChatGPT Go is a total no-brainer, right? I mean, who doesn't want to be bombarded with ads while they're trying to have a decent conversation with an AI 🀯. The free tier was way more straightforward – just plain old chat without all the bells and whistles πŸ“ž.

I'm curious about the new pricing model... $8/month is actually pretty affordable considering what you get. I mean, I've been using ChatGPT for a while now, and it's already become an essential tool for me, but it's not cheap. The idea that ad-free tiers are going to be more expensive than this one is interesting - does that mean people are willing to pay for ad-free experience or something else?

And I wonder if the ads on ChatGPT Go will make a difference in the user experience... will they be annoying or just a minor distraction? I've seen some ads like that before, and they can be pretty cool actually. Who knows, maybe the ads will become part of what makes the service so great.

It's also worth noting that $8/month is still relatively cheap compared to other productivity tools out there... if people are willing to pay for ChatGPT Go, I think it could have big implications for how we use AI in our daily lives.

I'm loving the new pricing model for ChatGPT Go! $8/month is super affordable, especially if you're just looking to try out the AI chatbot without committing to a higher plan. I think this move will definitely make it more accessible to everyday users who want to tap into the power of AI.

For me, the fact that they're introducing ads in ChatGPT Go for US users is a bummer... but hey, at least it's not like we're being forced to watch annoying videos or anything πŸ™„. I'm just hoping the ad revenue will help keep the app free for Plus and higher subscribers.

I've been experimenting with ChatGPT Go myself, and I have to say, the fast version of GPT-5.2 Instant is a game-changer! It's amazing how much more context it can understand now... definitely worth the extra cash πŸ’Έ.

I'm thinking they're being pretty cool with this new tier, you know? Like, $8 a month is super affordable, especially for people who just wanna try out AI without spending a fortune πŸ’Έ. I mean, 10x more messages sounds like a sweet deal too 🀩. But at the same time, it's a bit weird that they're gonna start running ads on the Go tier... like, what if you just wanna have a chill convo with ChatGPT without being interrupted by ads? πŸ˜• Still, I guess it's a good thing they're making it more accessible to everyday users, 'cause AI is pretty cool stuff and we should be able to use it without breaking the bank πŸ€‘.

I'm kinda stoked about the new pricing tier for ChatGPT Go πŸ€”πŸ‘ but I'm also a bit wary about the ad situation πŸ“ΊπŸ˜’ I mean, $8 a month is super affordable but starting to show ads in the US might be a bit too much for some users. I get it, OpenAI needs to make money but I think they should have found a better way to monetize without compromising the user experience 😊. Plus, what's up with the ad pricing? Is it gonna be like Google AdSense or something? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ On the bright side, more people getting access to AI chatbots is awesome 🌟, especially for everyday users who wanna explore the tech without breaking the bank πŸ’Έ

I'm low-key hyped about the new ChatGPT Go tier 🀯! $8 a month is like, super reasonable for what they're offering. I mean, 10x more messages with GPT-5.2 Instant sounds like a game-changer, especially if you're just messing around with it or doing some casual learning stuff. And the fact that they're making it accessible to everyday users who don't wanna break the bank is genius πŸ’‘. The only thing I'm a bit worried about is the ads, tho... like, when do they start running in the US? πŸ€” Still, overall, this feels like a win for the masses, and I'm stoked to see more people getting in on the AI chatbot action 😎

I'm low-key hyped about the new ChatGPT Go subscription tier πŸ€–πŸ’Έ! $8 a month is def a steal for what you get - more messages, file uploads, and image generation compared to the free tier. I mean, who doesn't want to explore AI without breaking the bank? πŸ˜‚ However, I'm also kinda worried about ad pricing πŸ€‘... running ads in ChatGPT Go might change the game for some users. Not sure if I'm cool with that. Plus, what's up with the context window capacity not being specified? πŸ’ That's just me being extra cautious πŸ˜…. But overall, this is a solid move by OpenAI to make AI more accessible to everyday folks! πŸ‘

I'm kinda stoked about this new pricing model, you know? Like $8 a month for more messages and stuff is pretty reasonable. I mean, it's still not super cheap, but it's def more accessible to regular folks who wanna try out ChatGPT without breaking the bank πŸ€‘. The ad thing is weird though - I get it, they gotta make some cash, but ads in ChatGPT already kinda ruin the vibe for me πŸ˜’. Still, if it means more people can use the chatbot, that's a win in my book πŸŽ‰! I'm curious to see how this whole thing plays out, especially with all the different tiers and stuff πŸ€”.
