A Palestinian taxi driver has recounted the harrowing details of his narrow escape after being attacked by a group of right-wing protesters in Tel Aviv.
The 36-year-old father of two was driving through the city when he was confronted by a mob of protesters who hurled stones, bottles, and even a Molotov cocktail at him. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with some protesters attempting to set fire to his vehicle while others shouted anti-Semitic insults.
Miraculously, the driver managed to dodge the projectiles and flee from his car before it was engulfed in flames. He then hid under a nearby awning until the attackers had dispersed.
"It was like a nightmare come true," the driver told CNN, still shaken by the experience. "I've been driving for years, but I never thought I'd be targeted by someone who hates me just because of where I'm from."
The attack on the taxi driver is part of a wider trend of violence and intimidation against Palestinians in Israel, with many experiencing harassment, vandalism, and even physical attacks.
For his part, the driver has taken precautions to ensure his safety while driving. "I won't let what happened to me keep me from doing my job," he said. "But I do wish people could see things from our perspective."
