what's up with these LA suburb pics tho? like why do people want to take pics of zebra-print rugs ? anyway , Sultan's fam pics are kinda deep though . like he captures the awkwardness of aging parents but still makes it relatable

OMG and have u seen his work with Mike Mandel ? those archival pics recontextualized as poetic ... i got chills
I'm still not convinced about this "narrative photography" trend . I mean, taking pictures of your family members or exploring your own backyard doesn't necessarily make it art. It's all about execution and storytelling, right? Larry Sultan's work is interesting, don't get me wrong, but some of his pieces feel like they're just documenting the mundane rather than pushing boundaries.
And what's with all these "family portraits" being a thing again? It's like we're living in a never-ending episode of The Brady Bunch. I need to see more than just pretty faces and domestic bliss; where's the edge? The controversy? The spark that makes you go "wow, this is art"? Maybe I'm just not hip enough, but I'll stick to my skeptical vibes
omg i just found out about larry Sultan he's like totally my idol now! i loved how he captured these weirdly intimate moments of american life thru his lens... like who would've thought to take pics of porn set interiors? but at the same time it's so relatable to how our homes are still kinda awkward spaces even when we're trying to relax. and "pictures from home" is giving me major feels lol he was all about exploring the complexities of family life in a super honest way... love that!
