Perplexity signs deal to use Getty Images

I'm low-key worried about how these licensing deals are gonna affect creators. I mean, think about it - when you're scraping millions of images from Getty, where does that leave the original owners? It's like, yeah, we get to use your art, but what about the people who actually made it?

And can we talk about the fact that stable diffusion got sued for processing protected images without permission? I feel like Perplexity is just gonna follow in those footsteps. What's gonna stop them from just using whatever they want and not giving anyone credit?

I'm all for innovation, but AI needs to figure out how to respect creators' rights. We're talking about a global industry here, where people are making a living off their work. I don't see how this partnership with Getty solves any of those problems... 🤔

I'm really seeing how Perplexity is trying to get its act together after all those lawsuits 🤦‍♂️. I mean, integrating Getty's massive library is a huge step in the right direction, but it's still super concerning that they're relying on someone else's content to save their own bacon 💸. Can't they just create their own images or something? 😒

just read about perplexity ai's deal with getty images 🤯 and i'm kinda surprised they didn't do this sooner? like, have you seen some of the stuff being generated by AI lately? it's getting pretty wild and crazy 💥. but at the same time, i get where they're coming from - accuracy and attribution are key when it comes to using images and content online.

i've been following perplexity ai's whole ordeal with lawsuits and whatnot 🤔, and it just goes to show how much of a gray area AI-generated content is in terms of ownership and usage rights. i mean, on one hand, you have companies like getty images trying to protect their intellectual property, but on the other hand, you have AI platforms trying to provide value and innovation to users.

anyway, it'll be interesting to see how this partnership plays out and whether it sets a precedent for other AI companies 🤔.
