I mean, come on... people are hating on Pete Alonso already? He's an amazing player and deserves to be rewarded with a big contract. $150 million for 5 years isn't that bad, especially considering he's been carrying the Mets' offense single-handedly for years. And what's wrong with the Mets wanting to spend big on him? They should be trying to build a contender, not just break even. Alonso is worth every penny and if they can get him to stay, I think they'll be just fine. Let's give Pete a chance to prove himself again! 
they gotta step up if they wanna compete in the nl. 150 million for 5 years is nothing compared to what other teams are willing to pay. and whats with deferring payment? doesn't sound like a real offer to me 
also, i think 30 mil per year seems low considering guerrero jr just signed for 35. the mets need to up their game if they wanna keep alonso 
It's not like Alonso is some kind of superhero or anything. He's a good player, but so are there plenty of other guys in the league.
