I mean, I'm watching this whole Taijuan Walker situation unfold and I gotta say, 72 million bucks for a guy who's been underperforming? That's crazy talk!
Back in my day, we didn't have all these big contracts, teams just made adjustments like any other player. Now it seems like you gotta be a superstar or bust if you wanna stay on the roster.
I think the Phillies are right to question whether Walker can really make the jump from long reliever to starter. I mean, he's shown some promise, but that one season doesn't necessarily define a guy's career. And with this contract, it's like they're stuck with him no matter what happens. It's tough to make decisions when you got so much money on the line.
I don't know, man... maybe I'm just an old guy who doesn't understand the game anymore
. But I do think teams need to be more realistic about these contracts and not throw all this cash at one player no matter what. There's gotta be a better way to manage payroll without breaking the bank.
