Philly's aviation chief steps down ahead of busy tourism season

Philadelphia Set to Welcome World Leaders with New Aviation Chief at the Helm

As summer approaches, Philadelphia is bracing for its busiest tourism season in years, but not all is steady on the ground just yet. The city's aviation chief, Atif Saeed, has announced his departure as CEO of the Philadelphia Department of Aviation and director of both Philadelphia International Airport and Northeast Philadelphia Airport, effective February 27.

Saeed, who took the reins three years ago, will be replacing himself at San Diego International Airport in a new role. His leadership will be taken over by Tracy S. Borda, an experienced airport administrator with 30 years under her belt at PHL. The city plans to conduct a national search for his replacement.

During his tenure, Saeed oversaw major capital improvement projects and expanded the airport workforce. When he arrived in December 2022, he led the Division of Aviation as it was rebranded into a formal department of the city, joining Mayor Cherelle Parker's cabinet. Under his leadership, Philadelphia International Airport emerged from the pandemic stronger, modernization efforts advanced, and the city positioned itself to welcome international visitors with confidence.

Saeed expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the city and looked forward to welcoming millions of visitors this summer, which includes events like the FIFA World Cup matches, the MLB All-Star Game, and the PGA Championship. He acknowledged that Philly's airports are prepared to handle the influx of tourists but declined to comment further on his reasons for leaving.

Mayor Parker praised Saeed for his contributions to the city's aviation department, saying he spearheaded initiatives that positioned Philadelphia as a hub for international travel and development. His departure marks an opportunity for the city to continue growing its air transportation network with Borda at the helm.

ugh i cant believe theyre changing airports already 🀯 like whats next? first it was saeed leaving, now its borda taking over πŸ™„ and we still got 6 months to go till summer tourists start flooding in πŸ–οΈ dont get me wrong, saeed did some cool stuff during his time here but come on, can't they just leave well enough alone πŸ˜’

"Change is the law of life, and those who live in it find it sweet."

I'm not surprised by Atif Saeed's departure as he has been setting high expectations for Philly's aviation department for years now πŸ€”. Tracy S. Borda seems like a solid choice to take over though - with 30 years of experience under her belt, she should know how to handle the busy summer season 😬. Still can't help but wonder what made Atif leave so soon πŸ’Έ...

Just think about it, Philly is getting ready for the biggest tourism season ever but their new aviation chief left... what's going on? πŸ€” Saeed is not just any airport chief he transformed the airports into a whole new level with all those awesome projects and expansion. It's like "the show must go on" now πŸ˜…

πŸ€” I'm kinda surprised Atif Saeed is leaving PHL after all the progress he made πŸš€. Still, it's cool that Tracy S. Borda comes in - 30 years of experience is a big deal! πŸ’Ό I wonder what kind of changes we can expect now πŸ˜‚. And wow, millions of visitors this summer? That's gonna be crazy 🀯. Events like the FIFA World Cup matches and MLB All-Star Game are gonna bring so much energy to Philly πŸŽ‰. I'm curious to see how Borda will handle all that πŸ”₯

I feel like PHL airport is gonna be SO busy this summer 🀯! With Saeed stepping down, I'm curious if they'll be able to handle all those tourists. Tracy S. Borda seems like a great choice tho, she's got a ton of experience under her belt 😊. I hope the city can still maintain that smooth airport flow after he leaves. πŸš€

πŸ€” Philly's got some big shoes to fill now that Atif Saeed is outta there... I mean, 30 years of experience under Tracy S. Borda's belt is no joke πŸ’Ό. Hope she can keep things running smoothly while they're searching for his replacement πŸ•°οΈ. Don't wanna be stuck in traffic during the World Cup matches 😩. Anyway, Borda seems like a solid choice, so here's to hoping it works out 🀞

omg u guys... Atif Saeed is literally passing the baton to a super experienced Tracy Borda πŸ™ŒπŸ’ͺ! I mean, 30 yrs of airport admin skills under her belt? that's like, major cred right there! πŸ‘ And Philly International Airport is gonna be READY for all those tourists this summer - from FIFA World Cup to MLB All-Star Game & PGA Championship... the city's aviation chief has definitely done his part to make it happen πŸ’¨πŸŒ†! but now it's time for Tracy to take the reins and lead the team forward πŸš€πŸ’« can't wait to see what she brings to the table 😊

lol what's up with this, new airport chief comin in just in time for the FIFA World Cup & MLB All-Star Game? seems suspicious... like they're tryin' to cover somethin' or distract from somethin'. city's aviation department is gettin' a big shakeup, but we don't know what's really goin' on. maybe Saeed was onto somethin' and had to bail? or maybe it's just a smooth transition? idk, but I'm keepin' an eye on this one πŸ€”πŸš«

🚨😬 Just found out that Atif Saeed is leaving Philly Airport after 3 yrs 🀯 I mean, I'm glad he's moving on but now they gotta start over? 😩 Tracy Borda seems okay but can she really fill his shoes? πŸ€” The city's gonna have to scramble to find a new leader who can handle the tourists this summer... it's gonna be a madhouse! 😱

just got the scoop on Atif Saeed leaving Philly's airport job πŸš¨πŸ›«οΈ not sure if he was getting too burned out or just ready for a new challenge, but Tracy S Borda is gonna bring her 30+ yrs of experience to the table πŸ’ΌπŸ˜Š hope she can keep the city's airports buzzing during those crazy summer months - all those tourists are coming! πŸŒžπŸ›¬

man, can you believe it? they're already losing their new aviation chief like this 🀯 i mean, saeed did some good stuff while he was in charge, but still... philly's airports are supposed to be ready for the summer crowds now πŸ˜… and what about all those major projects he started? are they just gonna get abandoned or something? πŸ€” mayor parker's trying to spin this as a positive, saying saeed helped position philly as a hub for international travel... yeah, but it sounds like he's kinda ghosting the city now πŸ‘‹
