Plymouth restaurant Bode’s Corned Beef House to close after 60+ years - Detroit Metro Times

Plymouth's Beloved Corned Beef House to Close After Sixty Years of Service

In a shocking move, Bode's Corned Beef House, a Plymouth institution since 1959, announced that it will be closing its doors for good. The news came as a devastating blow to the community, who have grown accustomed to the restaurant's warm atmosphere and mouth-watering corned beef dishes.

According to the business, the decision to close was not taken lightly, but rather a result of the building's new owners selling it to a private company. While this may be a blessing in disguise for some, it has left many feeling heartbroken and nostalgic about the loss of an iconic local eatery.

For six decades, Bode's Corned Beef House has been a staple in Plymouth, hosting countless family gatherings, birthday celebrations, and community events. The restaurant's owners have expressed their gratitude to the community, acknowledging that they will deeply miss serving generations of families who have grown up with the establishment.

In an effort to make the most of its remaining time, Bode's Corned Beef House is planning to host a fundraising event on December 15th, where customers can come together to support the laid-off staff. A $20 cover charge will apply, and all proceeds will go towards helping the employees affected by the closure.

The owners have also announced that they hope to reopen in another location, if the fates allow, but for now, it seems as though this chapter in Plymouth's culinary history has come to a close. As one last gesture of appreciation, Bode's Corned Beef House is inviting customers to visit and enjoy one final corned beef meal as a tribute to its legacy.

With its rich history and dedication to the community, Bode's Corned Beef House will be deeply missed by those who have had the pleasure of dining there. As the restaurant prepares to close its doors for good, it serves as a poignant reminder of the fleeting nature of time and the importance of preserving our local cultural heritage.

🤕 I'm so bummed about Bode's Corned Beef House closing down 🍴😢 It was always my go-to spot for a delicious corned beef sandwich on a Saturday lunchtime 📆 I remember going there with friends and family after school sports events, it was like a rite of passage 🏦 Those owners were legends, always friendly and welcoming 👨‍🍳 I'm not sure what the future holds, but hosting that last fundraising event on Dec 15th is a nice way to go out ✨ The thought of them reopening somewhere else is nice, but it's hard to imagine anything replacing Bode's in our hearts ❤️

I'm so sad to hear about Bode's Corned Beef House closing down 🤕. I've been to Plymouth like 5 times and every single time I had an amazing meal there 😋. Their corned beef is literally the best I've ever had! The owners seem really nice too, it's not right that they have to close up shop after all those years. And now they're having a fundraising event to help the staff... that's so sweet of them ❤️. I hope they can reopen in another location tho, would be such a shame if they didn't 🤞. But like, even if it doesn't work out, we'll just have to keep the memories of Bode's alive and make sure to tell our kids/grandkids about this legendary restaurant 👵🏻💬

omg i just saw this news and my heart is breaking 🤕 i mean i've never been to plymouth but i've heard so much about bodes corned beef house and it's sad that it has to close down 😔 i'm not even sure how they're going to make it work in another location tho, like how will they keep the same vibe and stuff? 🤷‍♀️ also why does it have to be on december 15th though, is that a random date or is there a specific reason for it? 🤔

I'm actually kinda stoked that Bode's Corned Beef House is closing down! I mean, 60 years is like, forever, right? The place has probably seen it all, and I'm sure it's just getting old and stale (pun intended). All these people crying about losing a "local institution" are just nostalgic fools. Newsflash: places change, and sometimes that means new blood brings new ideas! 🤷‍♂️

And let's be real, who needs to reopen in some other location? That's just gonna water down the experience for everyone. It's time for Bode's Corned Beef House to move on to its next chapter (or not). The fact that they're having a fundraising event is cool and all, but at the end of the day, it's still gonna be closed. Might as well enjoy one last corned beef meal while you can!

Man, this is like the end of an era 🤯... I'm gonna miss Bode's Corned Beef House so much, it's like losing a part of my childhood memories 😔. I mean, who can forget those mouth-watering corned beef sandwiches and warm atmosphere? It's crazy that it's been around for 60 years, hosting all these family gatherings and community events 🎉.

But at the same time, I'm also kinda glad it's not going to get lost in the shuffle of modernization 🤔. The owners are doing a great thing by planning to reopen in another location, and this fundraising event is super cool ❤️. It's all about supporting the employees and giving them a chance to find new opportunities.

It just goes to show that sometimes, change can be hard, but it's also necessary for growth 🌱. I hope Bode's Corned Beef House comes back stronger than ever, with even more amazing food and memories 😊.

😔 I'm so gutted to hear that Bode's Corned Beef House is closing after 60 years. It's like losing a part of our community's history 🤕. I've had my fair share of corned beef meals there and it always brings back memories of family gatherings and lazy Sunday lunches with the kids 👪. The thought of not being able to walk through those doors and smell that familiar aroma is just heartbreaking 💔. On a positive note, I love the idea of the fundraising event on Dec 15th - let's all come together to support the staff who are going to be affected by this closure 🤝. Fingers crossed they can find another spot to set up shop soon! 🤞

Aw man... this is sad 🤕 Bode's Corned Beef House has been around for 60 years? that's like, a lifetime in Plymouth! I remember hearing about it from my grandma when she was younger. It's crazy how things can just disappear like that. But hey, they're doing something nice by hosting a fundraising event to help the staff out 🎉 $20 cover charge is pretty reasonable, and it's awesome that all proceeds will go towards supporting them. Fingers crossed they'll reopen somewhere else! 🤞 The thought of never being able to get their corned beef sandwiches again is just heartbreaking 😔

Aww man 😔 that's so sad 🤕... 60 years is like, a lifetime 🕰️! Can you imagine all those family picnics, birthday parties & community events that took place there? 🎉 They're basically taking away a piece of history 💥. But at least they're trying to give the staff a helping hand by hosting a fundraiser 🎁 on Dec 15th 📆. Fingers crossed they can find another spot to reopen, but for now it's time to say goodbye 😢... hope those memories stay with us forever ❤️

man this is such a shame 🤕 i mean bodes has been around for like forever and it's crazy that it's gotta close down after all these years 🤯 they're hosting a fundraiser though which is nice, hope it brings in some cash to help the staff out 💸 idk where they'll end up reopening tho, but hopefully another location will get to experience the magic of bodes' corned beef 😊

Ughhh my heart is literally shattered into a million pieces over this 😩🤕 news!!! how can they just close down after 60 years of service?! i mean i know times change but come on, bodes corned beef house has been an institution in plymouth for decades! it's not just a restaurant it's a part of our history and culture 🎉. i've had the best corned beef sandwiches of my life at that place and now they're just gonna...just disappear?!? 🤷‍♀️ it's so unfair to the staff who will be losing their jobs and it's heartbreaking for all us customers who will have to say goodbye 😭.

and can you believe they're trying to close down on a december 15th fundraiser event?! that's like, the worst timing ever! how am i supposed to cope with this news when all i want to do is celebrate christmas with a full stomach of corned beef goodness 🎄. anyway, i just wanna say goodbye to bodes and thank you to the owners for an amazing 60 years of service ❤️. it's not easy losing something we love but at least they're doing it with class 💯👏

awww dont be sad ppl 🤗 bodes corned beef house has been around for 60 yrs thats like forever lol they deserve a break tho 🙏 hope whoever buys the place keeps the same vibes & cooks up those delicious corned beef sandwiches for years to come 🥩👍

.. this is just heartbreaking 🤕 I mean, sixty years is ages, you know? It feels like Bode's Corned Beef House was more than just a restaurant - it was a part of people's lives. I've heard so many stories about how the staff knew you by name and could always get your order right... it's just one of those things that makes you feel all nostalgic and stuff 🤗

And now they're trying to stay positive by hosting this fundraising event, which is super cool... but at the same time, it's hard not to think about how much it's going to hurt some people. I've got family who used to go there all the time when we were kids, and it's just crazy to think that it's closing down forever 😢

I do hope they can find a way to reopen somewhere else though... I mean, can you imagine not being able to get your corned beef fix in Plymouth? 🤪 It's like losing a piece of our local history or something. Anyway, I'm defo going to try and make it to that fundraising event - gotta show my support for the staff 👍

:( sad news about Bodes Corned Beef House closin down after 60 yrs 🤕 it's like sayin goodbye to an old friend u know? i remember goin there wif my family when i was a kid & havin the best corned beef sandwiches ever 😋 they were more than just a restaurant, dey were part of the community spirit & now its gonna be missd by alot of ppl 🙏

Man... this is so sad 🤕! I mean, 60 years is a huge chunk of history right there. It's crazy that they're closing down after all those years of serving up that famous corned beef. I'm really going to miss it too 🤤. And on top of that, the owners are doing this fundraising event to help the staff? That's super cool ❤️. But you know what would've been even cooler? If the city had some kind of plan in place to preserve local businesses like Bode's Corned Beef House. Like, what happens when a place with so much history and character closes down for good? It's just a huge loss for the community 🤝. I hope they do end up reopening somewhere else, but if not... we've got some awesome memories of that spot 💕.
