Possible measles exposure took place at Philadelphia International Airport, health officials warn

Measles still a big deal . Like, I know we're not in a pandemic mode anymore, but it's still super contagious & can be deadly to some people . If you were at Philly airport on Sunday and you don't know if you've got the vaccine or not... just check your birthdate or MMR history . And even if you are protected, take precautions if you're going abroad . We should all be mindful of our health & travel safely ️

gotta say, this whole thing is lowkey worrying , I mean, how can we even prevent it from spreading when like 9 out of 10 people get infected ? and what's up with the vaccination schedule, I feel like we're still kinda stuck in the dark ages here . shouldn't we be prioritizing getting vaccinated ASAP instead of just "monitoring for symptoms"? don't get me wrong, health officials are doing their part but I think more awareness is needed on how to stay protected .

I'm getting a little anxious just thinking about this... remember when we had to show our student ID to fly out of JFK? now it's like, be careful at the airport and hope you didn't get infected measles is so scary, I have nightmares about it. and 9 out of 10 people getting infected? that's crazy! my cousin got measles when she was a kid and it was super painful... her face was all puffy and red for like weeks anyway, just make sure you're vaccinated and be careful at the airport, okay?

measles is still a thing i'm not surprised it's hitting airports and schools, it's been ages since the last major outbreak in the states. what's concerning is that people are still showing up unvaccinated or with low vax status... should really be checking your immunity before flying to another country anyone who hasn't had two doses of mmr needs to get on that ASAP! and honestly, if you can avoid traveling abroad until the outbreak dies down, that's a pretty reasonable request

I'm surprised they're not warning about this sooner... like, what's the point of having health officials if they can't keep track of who came into contact with someone infected? And 9 out of 10 people getting sick from measles is a big number - I mean, I get it, the virus is contagious and all that, but shouldn't we be focusing on stopping it before it spreads like crazy?

And can you even trust the "if you were born before 1957 or have had two doses of the MMR vaccine" thing? That's not foolproof. What about people who got their second dose later than recommended or have some weird medical condition that affects their immune system? It's like, we need better systems in place to protect us from this stuff.

I'm not saying the airport should be shut down or anything (although, I mean, it would probably reduce the spread of measles), but come on, shouldn't they have had some sort of screening process in place for people entering the country? It just seems like a whole lot of work to figure out who might've been exposed.
