Premier League and FA Cup news: Fletcher rails at Walker 'stamp' on Dorgu, Romero lands ban

Manchester United interim manager Darren Fletcher has criticized Kyle Walker for "stamp" he allegedly made on Manchester City's Patrick Dorgu during their 2-2 draw at Burnley, with the Scot arguing that the referee and video assistant referee missed a clear yellow card.

Walker's actions in question occurred when the ball was trapped between Dorgu's legs, prompting Walker to stamp on the Dane's backside before offering him a handshake, which was accepted by the players involved. However, Fletcher believes the officials failed to notice it, drawing parallels with an earlier incident involving Lisandro Martínez and Kyle Walker.

Fletcher is now set for another managerial stint as United host Brighton in Sunday's FA Cup tie. The Scot dismissed speculation about his future under caretaker duo Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Michael Carrick, stating that he would not be leaving until the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Cristian Romero has been handed a one-match suspension for reacting to being sent off during last month's 2-1 Premier League loss to Liverpool. The Argentina international received his second yellow card after kicking out at Ibrahima Konaté, before later admitting to "improper" behavior and receiving an additional £50,000 fine.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is hopeful that defender Fabian Schär will recover from a calf injury in time to play again this season. However, the injury has left Newcastle with limited defensive options as Dan Burn continues his recovery from a punctured lung and broken ribs.

Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola says the club plans to sign a winger in January to replace Antoine Semenyo after the Ghanaian attacker's £62.5 million move to Manchester City on Friday night.

Aston Villa will be without goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez for their FA Cup tie against Tottenham, as the Argentina international suffers from a calf injury that is expected to keep him out of action until after the January transfer window.

Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris plans to select a strong team in Saturday's FA Cup tie against Everton despite the festive period being "really demanding" for his squad. The Black Cats have been without six players on Africa Cup of Nations duty and now face the challenge of managing player load ahead of their Merseyside match.

ugh i was way too late to see that walker incident but i dont think fletcher is entirely right about it...im not saying walker didnt make contact with dorgu or anything but like, didnt everyone else on the pitch just sorta chill and go "oh yeah thats fine"? 😐

idk what's goin on with these football players 🤷‍♂️... it sounds like Kyle Walker is gettin a bad rep again, but like, Darren Fletcher says he didn't do nothin wrong lol. and cristian romero gets suspended for reactin to gettin sent off? seems harsh 😏. and fabian schär's injury's got newcastle in a bit of a pickle... need to find some decent defenders ASAP 🤞

Another week, another bunch of footballers getting away with questionable behavior 😂. I mean, Kyle Walker's 'stamp' on Patrick Dorgu was just a weird handshake 🤔... but hey, who needs consistency in refereeing when you've got drama to sell? And good luck to Manchester United finding someone to manage them - Darren Fletcher back in for another stint, probably after some intense therapy sessions to deal with the stress of managing a team that's more likely to implode than win a trophy 🙃. On a separate note, can we talk about how these teams are managing their squads? Newcastle's got a broken defender and an injury-ridden squad, Aston Villa's gotta rely on Emiliano Martínez for goalkeeping... it's like they're competing against the injury list rather than each other 🤷‍♂️.

Ugh, these Premier League updates are always so cringeworthy 😒. Can't we just get a decent season without all the drama? And seriously, who has time for Kyle Walker's antics? The guy stamps on Patrick Dorgu and then expects everyone to forget about it? 🙄 Give me a break.

And can we talk about the refs for a second? I swear, they're always blind to certain things. First it's Lisandro Martínez vs Walker, now it's Kyle Walker again... Is this some kind of joke? ⚽️ And what's with all these suspensions and injuries? It's like every team is just waiting for an excuse to sit people out.

And have you seen the transfer news lately? Bournemouth trying to sign a winger in January because Semenyo got sold to Manchester City... Like, can't they afford to keep their own players? 🤑 And Aston Villa losing Emiliano Martínez to injury again? Can't they get it together for once?

I'm so tired of all this drama and nonsense. Just give me some good old-fashioned football, you know? ⚽

😊 I don't think Kyle Walker stamping Patrick Dorgu's backside was that bad, it was just a silly move after the ball went out. You can't blame Darren Fletcher for speaking up about it though 🤔. It's just frustrating when the refs and VAR miss important calls like that. 😐

And sorry to hear Fabian Schär's injury might keep him out for a while... Newcastle could really use him in defense 🚫. Hopefully, he'll be back soon. ⏰

I don't know what the plan is at Bournemouth but signing a new winger sounds like a good idea 🤝. Antoine Semenyo was always an attacking threat so it's a shame he had to leave. 👋

And I think Sunderland should get some credit for managing their squad with all those players away at the Africa Cup of Nations 🙌. It's not easy, but they'll be strong in Saturday's game 💪

I don't know, man... I'm not buying this Kyle Walker stuff 🤔. A stamp on someone's backside? That's just a big mess waiting to happen. And what's with all these red cards and fines? It seems like everyone's getting suspended left and right. In my day, we didn't need all these tech gadgets and VARs to figure out when someone's being dirty on the pitch. Just good old-fashioned common sense 🤷‍♂️.

And don't even get me started on the refs. I mean, what's going on with all these refereeing decisions? It's like they're not even watching the game anymore 🤦‍♂️. I swear, if I'm paying to watch a match, I want to see some real action, not just a bunch of tech-savvy officials making stuff up as they go along 💻.

But hey, what do I know? Maybe I'm just old-school and out of touch 🙄. Still, it's just not the same game anymore...

I'm still trying to wrap my head around Kyle Walker's actions on Patrick Dorgu 🤔. I get why Darren Fletcher is upset, but come on, a stamp? That's just not cool 😒. And now that he's coming back for Manchester United, will he be more mindful of his reactions on the pitch? Maybe. But what really gets me is the lack of clarity around what happened 📺. Was it really just a handshake? Or was there something more to it? I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this one plays out 🤞

I feel bad for Kyle Walker, you know? 🤔 Manchester United's interim manager Darren Fletcher is saying that the ref and VAR missed a clear yellow card on Kyle when he stamped on Patrick Dorgu's backside... it's kinda harsh, imo. I mean, Kyle offered Pat a handshake afterwards, so it seems like he didn't do anything too bad. And now Kyle's all like "oh woe is me" 🙄. Maybe the refs just weren't paying attention that time? 🤷‍♂️ It's not like Kyle has been in trouble before... Lisandro Martínez and Kyle had a similar incident last season, but it didn't get as much attention back then. Anyway, I think Fletcher is being too hard on Kyle, tbh 😐.

Ugh, footballers can be so clumsy 🤦‍♂️! First, Kyle Walker gets a slap in the face from Patrick Dorgu and nobody notices? That's just not right 😒. I mean, I get it, referees have to make calls, but come on, a clear yellow card for that one? Darren Fletcher's all over it though, I've got to give him props for standing up for his player 🙌.

And poor Cristian Romero, two yellows in one game is not good ⚠️. £50k fine isn't gonna help with the stress and pressure of being a pro footballer 😬.

Newcastle's calf injuries are just a nightmare 💔. Fabian Schär needs to get fit ASAP or it'll be tough for the Toon Army 🤪. And Bournemouth's looking to sign another winger? Not that I'm complaining, more options is always better 💸.

Aston Villa without Emiliano Martínez is gonna hurt ⚽️. They need their shot-stopper back in action ASAP. And Sunderland's gotta manage their squad with all the Africa Cup of Nations players out 🤯. It's a tough time for them.

Anyway, gonna be an interesting FA Cup round this weekend 🎉! Bring it on 😄.

Man, I'm still loving the drama that comes with football 🤣. This Kyle Walker thing is wild though... I mean, stamping on someone's backside and getting away with it? Come on, refs! Fletcher's got a point tho, those officials missed some obvious yellow cards last time around too 💡.

And poor Cristian Romero, getting handed a one-match suspension for reacting to being sent off is harsh, innit? But hey, at least he learned his lesson and took responsibility for it 🤦‍♂️.

Newcastle's injury woes are on the rise... Fabian Schär's calf injury is a bit of a worry. Hopefully, Dan Burn recovers soon so they've got some decent defensive options back 💪.

Iraola's plan to sign a winger in January sounds like a solid move for Bournemouth... can't have Antoine Semenyo's departure going to waste 🤔.

Aston Villa's lost Emiliano Martínez with another calf injury, bummer 😞. Sunderland, though? They've got this strong team lined up for Everton, and with the Africa Cup of Nations guys back, it'll be interesting to see how they manage their load 💪. Bring on some festive footy action! 🎄🏈

I don't trust these new-fangled referees 🤔. First, Kyle Walker stamps on some dude's backside and no one does anything? Then another guy gets sent off for reacting to getting kicked out and they hand him a slap on the wrist 😒. It just doesn't add up. And what about all these players coming in with injuries left right and center? Fabian Schär's gonna miss a bunch of games... meanwhile Newcastle's defense is basically a sieve 🤯. Can't say I'm buying into this "injury management" stuff 🚮. Bournemouth signing another winger in January just means they're gonna throw more money at the problem 💸. And what's up with all these suspensions? It feels like teams are just trying to get ahead by breaking the rules 🔒.

omg i just realized like i was watching this football match live and they were all arguing with each other 🤯 and then there's this drama about Kyle Walker stamping on Patrick Dorgu's backside 🤕 what if he meant to do it? did he even see the player's legs?! 😂 and now Darren Fletcher is all upset because the refs didn't notice 🙄 anyway i wonder how many players get away with that kind of thing in football 🤔 btw has anyone seen those Newcastle United players recovering from injuries?

just saw this on football news lol kyle walker is getting roasted by man u interim manager darren fletcher about that stamp he allegedly made on man city's patrick dorgu 🤣 apparently fletcher thinks the refs and var missed it, reminds me of another incident with lisandro martinez and walker... anyway, looks like eddie howe is hoping fabian schär will recover from his calf injury in time to play for newcastle... that's some good news i guess 😐

Wow 🤯, the Premier League is never done giving us drama. First, Kyle Walker's stamp on Patrick Dorgu, then Cristian Romero getting a one-match suspension for reacting to being sent off... it just keeps going 😂. And Newcastle's Fabian Schär injury is like, why now?! 🤦‍♂️ January signings are also coming in fast and furious... Bournemouth needs to get that winger ASAP! ⚽️ Sunderland's squad situation is a mess, I feel for them 🤕.

So Kyle Walker gets roasted by Manchester United's Darren Fletcher for that weird stamp move he made on Patrick Dorgu 🤔👊. I mean, it was pretty clear to anyone watching that Walker had done something naughty, but apparently the refs and VAR missed it 😒. It's like they say, "you can't make this stuff up"! The fact that Fletcher is drawing parallels with another incident involving Lisandro Martínez just adds fuel to the fire 🔥.

On a more serious note, I'm loving the FA Cup tie between Brighton and Manchester United on Sunday 🏟️. Should be a great match! And Tottenham's Cristian Romero is in some hot water after reacting to getting sent off 😳. £50k fine? That's steep 💸.

And finally, Newcastle's Fabian Schär injury crisis has got me worried about their defensive prospects 🤕. With Dan Burn out for a while and no clear solution in sight, they're going to need some serious reinforcements if they want to stay up 🔴👊

man what a game at Burnley 🤯 i feel bad for Kyle Walker tho, he just reacted to Patrick Dorgu's trap and stamping his backside 😒 but Darren Fletcher is right that the ref and vassar missed it big time ⚽️ gotta give credit where credit is due tho, Brighton will be tough to beat this sunday 🏈💪

idk why ppl think darren fletcher is so harsh 🤔, like he's tryin to stir up drama or wot? seems 2 me like a clear yellow card 4 kyle walker's stamp 👍 but fletcher's all worried bout it 😒 and what's w/ the criticism of patrick dorgu 2o? like, can't ppl just give him a break? 😩 anyway, back 2 football... who's gonna win sundland vs everton tho 🤞

🤔 I was thinking, Kyle Walker's stamp on Patrick Dorgu seemed kinda soft, don't get me wrong, but what if it was a bit more serious? If he'd done it right in front of everyone and the ref would've seen it, wouldn't that be a whole different story? 🙅‍♂️ And what about Lisandro Martínez getting away with similar stuff last season? 🤷‍♂️ It's not just Kyle Walker, it's a bigger issue with refs not doing their job. 🚫 Anyway, I'm more worried about Manchester United's defence right now... 😬
