Prince and Princess of Wales win privacy case against Paris Match

Royal Couple Wins High-Profile Privacy Case Against French Magazine

The Prince and Princess of Wales have emerged victorious in a long-running privacy case against Paris Match, a French luxury magazine that published intrusive paparazzi photographs of their family on a private ski holiday. The publication of the images sparked outrage among fans, who felt that the couple's private moments were being unfairly invaded.

In April last year, Kensington Palace confirmed that William and Catherine had launched legal action against the magazine after they featured in Paris Match without their consent. The articles and photographs documented the royal family's activities with their children at a French resort in the Alps, including Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven.

The couple's lawyers argued that the publication of the notice, which acknowledged that the magazine had infringed on their private lives and image rights, was preferable to any potential compensation. The decision has been hailed as a victory for the royal family, who have long sought to protect their private lives from media intrusion.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson described the ruling as "a clear affirmation" of the couple's right to respect for their private lives and family time. The statement read: "Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales have been successful in legal proceedings brought in France against the owner of Paris Match, which published a grossly intrusive article and long-lens paparazzi photographs of their private family holiday in the Alps."

The couple has long been vocal about their desire to protect their children from media scrutiny. In 2017, William was awarded €100,000 (£92,000) in damages after Closer magazine printed topless pictures of Catherine sunbathing on a private terrace during their Provence holiday in 2012.

This latest victory marks the second time that the royal couple has successfully taken legal action against a French magazine. In 2017, they also won a case against Closer over the publication of similar intrusive photographs. The judge fined the magazine's editor and owner €45,000 each, which will be donated to charity.

The decision serves as a reminder that celebrities and public figures still have the right to protect their private lives from unwanted media attention. As one royal insider noted, "This case sends a strong message to media outlets: respect our boundaries or face the consequences."

😊 The fact that they're taking these cases all the way to court shows just how far some people will go to get a scoop... and I'm not talking about invasive paparazzi pics of their family on holiday. It's like, hello! They're human beings too, with kids at home who deserve some privacy. And what really gets me is that these magazines think they can just pay a fine and move on? Like, that's not the point - it's about respecting people's boundaries in the first place 💔

I'm soooo relieved for William and Kate 🙌 they've been through this nightmare for far too long. I mean, who wouldn't want to have their family's private moments invaded like that? It's just so... invasive 😒. I love how they stood up for themselves and their kids' right to privacy. The fact that the judge was on their side is amazing! 👏

It's not just about them either - this decision sends a message to media outlets everywhere: respect people's boundaries, or you'll face consequences 💸. I mean, think about it - if paparazzi can just barge in and take pictures of your kid's birthday party without permission... that's just crazy 🎂.

And let's be real, this is not the first time they've taken action against a magazine. They've done it twice before, which shows they're not messing around 💪. I'm so proud of them for fighting for what's right and protecting their family's image. Well done, William and Kate! 👑

awww yay!! 🎉 finally some justice for william & catherine!!! i mean who wants paparazzi ruining their fam vacay?? 😂 this decision is so fair & long over due. they've been trying to protect their kiddos from media scrutiny for ages & it's great to see the courts agreeing with them! 💕 the fact that paris match had to pay out €45k is pretty sweet too 🤑 let's hope all other celebs can take a page out of their book and prioritize their own fam time 🙏

I'm not surprised they won 🤷‍♂️, I mean who doesn't want some peace and quiet on holiday? It's like, you're trying to spend quality time with your kids and have a chill vibe, and then BAM! You're splashed all over the mag with their lenses. The fact that the couple went to court for this is kinda laughable tbh 💁‍♂️. I guess it's good they got some justice though 🙌. Can you imagine if it was just any normal person who got caught on camera like that? 😩

😂 I mean think about it, who doesn't want some alone time with the fam? Like, I know the royals have a big public image and all but come on, they're just trying to chill in the Alps like everyone else! 🏂👑 It's not like they asked for the paparazzi to show up uninvited... 👀 The fact that they won this case is actually kinda refreshing. It's about time we saw some major media outlets be held accountable for respecting people's private lives, even if it's just a royal family 🤷‍♀️

I'm so glad to see some decent news for once 😊. The whole thing about paparazzi getting too close for comfort is just not right, you know? I mean, those poor kids should be able to play without being photographed all the time 🏂. It's good that William and Catherine stood up for themselves like that. They're setting an example for other families with kids in the public eye. And yeah, it's a shame that some magazines just don't get it - invasive photos are not cool 💔. Now they've got to pay the price (or so they say) 💸.

I gotta say, it's about time those paparazzi learn some respect! I mean, who doesn't want a little peace and quiet on holiday? 🙅‍♂️ It's like they think William and Kate's kids are just public property or something. And what really gets me is that this isn't the first time they've taken action against these magazines. The fact that it takes a few knocks to get some respect around here just goes to show how much media pressure can take out of people's lives.

I'm glad that justice was served and those magazines got what was coming to them, but you'd think this would be a bigger deal than just a fancy victory for the royal family. I mean, they're not the only ones who have to deal with paparazzi and unwanted attention! 🤷‍♂️ Still, it's a good reminder that we all deserve some private time, even if we are public figures.

📰💡 I'm loving this! I mean, can you imagine having your family's private moments splashed across the covers of every French magazine just because they're royals? 🤯 It's like, hello, they're people too, not just a PR machine. The fact that William and Catherine stood up for themselves and their kids' right to privacy is super inspiring. I mean, it's not like they're asking for much – just some basic respect for their personal space. And honestly, who wouldn't want to protect their kids from the paparazzi? It's crazy how much media scrutiny comes with being a public figure. Anyway, this win is definitely a reminder that boundaries matter, especially when it comes to family time 🤝🌿

I think it's fab that they won this case! I mean, who wants their family pics splashed all over the mag without asking? It's not fair to William and Catherine (or any other fam) to have their private moments invaded like that 🙅‍♀️. As a parent myself, I can imagine how stressful it must be for them to deal with this kind of attention on their kids too... Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and little Louis are just trying to live their best lives without the whole world watching 🤣. It's good to know that they've got some strong lawyers on their side to protect them from all this drama 💪. And let's be real, it's not just them - we need more people (mag owners included) respecting folks' private lives and boundaries 😊.

Can you believe these French magazines think they can just invade the royal family's privates w/o even askin'? Like, hello! They're tryin' to live their best lives with their kids and have some chill time in the Alps 🤦‍♂️. The fact that Paris Match thought it was okay to publish those pics without permission is straight up rude 🚫. I'm glad the royal couple fought back and won this case - they're totally on my team 👊. And btw, who needs €100k damages when you can have your dignity intact? 💁‍♀️

I mean, can you blame them? The whole world's always watching these royals, like they're living in some kind of fishbowl 🤯. I think it's crazy that people even publish this stuff without asking first. Like, what's the point of a private vacation if your every move is gonna be splashed all over the news? And now that the royal couple has won this case, I hope it sends a message to other media outlets that they need to respect people's boundaries too 🙏. It's not just about the royals, though - think about how many celebs and influencers have been harassed by paparazzi or unwanted media attention. This decision is like, a big ol' thumbs up for anyone who wants to protect their personal life 💯.

idk what's up with all these rich people wining lawsuits against the press... it just feels like they're trying to control what we can and can't see 🤔. like, isn't that kinda anti-transparent? on the other hand, i guess if you wanna protect your kids from paparazzi, that's a good reason to take action 😊. but still, think about all those euros being donated to charity... maybe it's just a way for them to feel better about themselves 🤑. anyway, gotta give props to will and catherine for sticking up for their fam 👑

Idk why they're making such a big deal about this 🤔. Like, paparazzi pics of them on ski holiday? Who cares? It's not like they're hiding from the public or something 🏂. They should've just said no to Paris Match in the first place, you feel? 🙄 And now they're all like "Victory for our private lives" 🎉. Gotta wonder how much money they spent on lawyers...

can u imagine how stressful it must be 4 them & their kids 2 b constantly watched & judged by paparazzi 🤯 meanwhile we're over here living our best lives w/o being invaded in our personal space lol anyway, i think it's awesome that they finally got some justice & can enjoy some peace n quiet with their fam 💕 the whole thing just sounds like a massive invasion of privacy, and i'm glad they won this case 2 protect themselves 🙌

I'm tellin' ya, this is just another example of how outta touch some mags can be 🙄! I mean, who does that? Publishing pics of someone's private family holiday in the Alps? It's just plain rude! The royals are basically saying, 'Hey, we're human too, and we want some peace and quiet' 💕. And good on 'em for standin' up for themselves – it's about time someone did! 🙌 I remember back in my day (ahem), we didn't have all these paparazzi runnin' around, takin' pics of people's private lives. It was just a different era, ya know? 😊 Anyway, it's great to see the royals gettin' some justice for this one – hope it sends a message to all the other mags out there: respect our boundaries or face the consequences, yeah! 👊

😒 I gotta say, this is just another example of how rich people get to control what's "private" and what's not. Like, come on, it's their job to be in the public eye! If you don't want paparazzi photos taken of you at a ski resort, maybe don't go there with your kids... 🤷‍♂️ I mean, I get that they're trying to protect their family's image and all, but do we really need a bunch of fancy lawyers fighting over what constitutes "invasion" of privacy? It just seems like a waste of resources to me. 💸

I'm totally loving this 🙌! The royals are giving me LIFE 💁‍♀️! I mean, who wouldn't want their private moments invaded by paparazzi? Not them, that's for sure! 🙅‍♂️ They've been super vocal about protecting their kids from the spotlight, and it's amazing to see them standing up for themselves.

I'm all about respecting people's boundaries, especially when it comes to their personal lives. The media should know better than to intrude on private moments like that. It's not cool, folks! 😎 The fact that they won this case is a huge win for those who value their privacy and want to keep their family life out of the spotlight.

The judge getting to fine the magazine's editor and owner €45,000 each is like a sweet justice 🍰. It shows that there are consequences for invading someone's private space. Kudos to William and Catherine for taking a stand and fighting for what's right! 👏

OMG 🤯 I'm so glad they won this case!!! It's like, totally reasonable that they wanted to keep their family time private, you know? 🙅‍♂️ I mean, can you imagine if your fam pics were splashed all over mag covers and online for the whole world to see? 😱 Not cool. The fact that they took a stand and protected their image rights is super admirable. And tbh, who doesn't love seeing the royal fam enjoying some quality time with their kiddos in the Alps without being hounded by paparazzi? 🏂👪 It's all about balance, right? Respect their space and boundaries, just like they do for others. 👍
