Prospect Lefferts Gardens day care shut amid 'horrific' child abuse allegations

Brooklyn Day Care Center Shut Down Amid Horrific Child Abuse Allegations

A day care center in Prospect Lefferts Gardens was shut down earlier this year after an investigation into allegations of child abuse and neglect. The Eva Crèche Day Care, which had been licensed for 10 children, was found to have multiple serious violations.

The closure came after parents reported seeing videos that showed their children being physically mistreated by day care staff. One parent described one video as "horrific" and said she recognized her child in the footage. The employee who reported the incidents has since been suspended from her job.

According to sources, at least eight parents validated the authenticity of the videos, which included footage showing an employee grabbing a child, other children eating in a private home that was not approved, and workers mistreating toddlers left alone in a bathroom. Other videos showed children being forced to eat on the floor, with one video capturing the moment.

The day care's owner, Shareese Dukes, has denied any wrongdoing, saying she took all necessary measures after learning about the incident. However, an attorney representing her said that an employee accused of abuse was immediately terminated.

City officials say they are exploring whether to issue summons and fines to the center even though it is closed. The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) confirmed that it was investigating the center starting in November, but did not disclose additional details.

Parents are outraged by the situation, saying they trusted the day care to provide a safe environment for their children. Councilmember Crystal Hudson said she was "heartbroken" by the news and expressed her support for parents who had sent their children to the center.

The closure of the Eva Crèche Day Care highlights the need for vigilance in monitoring child care centers to ensure that they meet safety standards. The city is expected to continue investigating the center's staff and operations, and to take action against those found guilty of abuse or neglect.

As one parent described it, "These are not just minor infractions. These are egregious cases of child abuse." The case has sparked widespread concern among parents and advocates for children's rights, who say that more needs to be done to protect vulnerable children from abuse and neglect in day care centers.

😱 omg this is so shocking i cant even imagine what those kids went through at the eva crèche day care center it was like a real-life episode of 'child's play' 🎬 where the adults are supposed to be protecting not harming them 🤕 and now its all over social media with parents sharing those horrific videos 📹 i just want to know what led up to this point did anyone report anything sooner? how could they get away with this for so long? 💔 its clear that something needs to change ASAP to make sure we have safe spaces for our little ones to grow and learn 🌱

I'm so worried about these poor kids. It's just unacceptable that they were being treated like this in a supposed safe space. 🤯 The fact that the owner is denying any wrongdoing but still has some employees who are accused of abuse is crazy. I think the city needs to take action ASAP and make sure no one else gets hurt like this.

I mean, how can you even trust someone who would do this to little kids? It's just not right. And what really freaks me out is that there were videos showing it all going down, and people were still letting their kids stay there. It's like they were in denial or something.

The city needs to make some serious changes to prevent this kind of thing from happening again. I don't care about the owner saying she did everything right, because clearly she didn't. The kids are the ones who got hurt here, and we need to make sure no one else gets hurt like that. 🚫

Ugh 😱 this is so disturbing 🤯 I cant even imagine how scaring it must be for those kids 👧🏼👦🏻 my mind is still on the vids of the employees mistreating the toddlers 🚽😨 like who does that? 🙅‍♀️ and now they're closing down the day care center 💔 I feel so bad for all the parents who trusted this place to take care of their little ones 👶🏼👦🏻 my heart goes out to them 🤗 the city needs to take action ASAP ⏰ like what's being done to ensure that nothing like this happens again? 💁‍♀️💯

🤕 this is so shocking - i cant even imagine how scared those kids must have been 😱. i mean, you would think that a place that's supposed to be safe for your child would be the last place they'd want to be 🤯. and 8 parents validating the videos? that's just crazy 🙅‍♀️. what's even more disturbing is that there were vids showing kids being forced to eat on the floor... like, are you kidding me?! 😷

i feel so bad for all those parents who trusted this place with their kids, only to have it turned out to be a nightmare 😩. and yeah, the city needs to take action, not just fine the center but also make sure there's accountability for the people responsible 🤝. i hope they can prevent something like this from happening again 💔.

omg this is soooo disturbing 🤯, i mean how can a place like that even exist?! the thought of those kids being treated like that is just heartbreaking 😭. i'm all for holding people accountable but it's crazy that some parents actually went to this day care and trusted them with their little ones 🤷‍♀️. the videos are just too much, i don't think i could even watch them again 😨. any way i hope the city takes action against those responsible and makes sure something like this never happens again 💯

💔🚫😱 This is totally unacceptable 🤯! I mean, a day care center shutting down because of child abuse allegations? That's like, the ultimate worst-case scenario 😩. I can only imagine how scared those little ones must have been 👶😨. The fact that staff were mistreating toddlers in a bathroom 🚽👧 is just horrific 💀. And to think parents trusted this place to care for their kids 🤝? Ugh, it's just so upsetting 😔.

The city needs to do more to protect these little ones 🌟! Like, seriously, how can they not catch on to this stuff earlier? 🙄 The ACS needs to be more proactive in monitoring day care centers 👮‍♀️. And what about the kids who were already there when this happened? Where are they now? 🤔👧

I'm totally with the owner on this one 👎. I mean, come on, a parent accusing an employee of abuse just because they saw some videos online? That's not fair to the employee's reputation. And what's with all these parents jumping to conclusions like that? It's an open investigation, let's wait for the facts before we start throwing stones 🤷‍♂️.

And another thing, if parents were so worried about their kids' safety at this day care center, why didn't they do some actual research on the place instead of just trusting their instincts? I mean, it's not like the owner was hiding anything from them. This whole thing is just a bunch of hysteria 🙄.

🤕 this is so sad 🤕 i feel bad for the kids who went through that... but on a silver lining side, its making us aware of what not to do in childcare centers & hopefully we can create even better ones now 💪 like, it's crazy how much footage was shared & validated by parents, its shocking how some people think they can just mistreat kids & get away with it 🤦‍♀️ but yeah, city officials are taking action & thats good 👏 lets hope this case sparks real change in keeping our little ones safe 😊

🤯 just got my hands on some info about the Eva Crèche Day Care scandal... apparently there were multiple complaints from parents but nobody listened or took action till one parent came forward with those horrific videos 📹 it's crazy how this all went down, and now the owner is trying to play dumb saying she did everything right 😒 but the truth is out, and it's a huge red flag for any family looking for a safe place to leave their little ones 👶

🤯 This is just horrific what happened at Eva Crèche Day Care... I remember hearing about this place when it first opened up, some friends had kids there and they said it was fine but now this... 8 parents validating those videos? That's crazy! It's not just about the staff being bad people, it's a whole system fail. What were they doing to ensure children's safety in the first place? It's unacceptable that kids were left alone in a bathroom and forced to eat on the floor. The city needs to take responsibility for this and make sure these kinds of incidents never happen again 🚫💔

🤕 This is a total disaster, it's unacceptable that these parents had to see their kids being treated like this on video. It's not just about the child abuse itself, but also about the trust that was broken when they enrolled their kids there. I think we need to ask ourselves why we let this happen in the first place? 🤔

I mean, what kind of environment allows for this kind of behavior? It's a clear case of negligence and poor supervision. And it's not just the staff who are at fault, but also the owners who were supposed to be watching over these kids.

This is a wake-up call for us all, parents, caregivers, and policymakers alike. We need to be more vigilant in monitoring child care centers and ensuring that they meet safety standards. It's not enough to just have laws on the books; we need to actually hold people accountable when they fail to do their job properly.

This case is a reminder that our children are in our hands, literally, when they're at day care or with caregivers. We need to take responsibility for giving them safe and nurturing environments, where they can grow and thrive without fear of harm. 💕

The news about the Brooklyn Day Care Center shutting down due to horrific child abuse allegations is a stark reminder of the importance of stringent regulations and oversight in childcare settings 🚨. The fact that at least eight parents validated the authenticity of the videos showing physical mistreatment, unauthorized eating areas, and forced feeding on the floor is absolutely appalling 😷. It's heartbreaking to think that some parents trusted this institution to provide a safe environment for their children, only to be let down by the very people supposed to care for them 🤕. The city officials' decision to explore issuing summons and fines, while the center is already closed, sends a strong message that accountability will be maintained 👮‍♀️. We need to ensure that childcare centers are held to high standards of safety and well-being, and that perpetrators of abuse or neglect face swift and decisive action 💪.

I'm shocked they're even considering issuing summons and fines - like, what's the point of those if the place is already closed? And yeah, the owner's denial doesn't fly, especially with all those videos going around showing child abuse. I mean, come on, she should've been shut down ASAP after those vids surfaced.

I'm so glad parents are speaking out about this, it's clear they trusted that day care to keep their kids safe. And Councilmember Hudson is right, we need more scrutiny on these centers. I don't think "vigilance" is enough - like, we need actual action taken against places that can't even be trusted.

And honestly, who knows how many other centers are doing the same thing? It's not just this one place, it's a systemic issue. We need to do better for our kids' safety and well-being. 😡💔

This is absolutely appalling! 😱 I'm still trying to wrap my head around the sheer scale of child abuse that went on at the Eva Crèche Day Care. The fact that staff were physically mistreating kids, forcing them to eat off the floor, and leaving toddlers alone in bathrooms is just heartbreaking. It's a wake-up call for all of us who value childhood safety and well-being.

As a society, we need to be more proactive in monitoring day care centers and holding perpetrators accountable. The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) should be commended for investigating this center from November onwards, but it's disheartening that the owner is still denying any wrongdoing despite mounting evidence. 🤯

The city's plan to issue summons and fines even after the center's closure is a step in the right direction, but I worry that more needs to be done to ensure that child abuse victims receive justice and support. We need to create a culture of accountability and transparency within our child care system, so this kind of abuse never happens again. 💔

Ugh, another day care center shuts down because of obvious neglect 🤢. I mean, how hard is it to ensure kids are safe when they're under your care? It's not like anyone expected the staff at Eva Crèche Day Care to be perfect or anything 🙄. The videos that surfaced were straight up horrific and I'm not surprised parents recognized their own kids in them... it's disgusting.

The owner is trying to spin this as if she had no idea what was going on, but let's be real, someone's gotta take responsibility here 🤷‍♀️. And now the city wants to issue fines and summons even though the center is closed? That just feels like more money being funneled into a system that's already failing our kids.

The fact that parents trusted this day care with their children is mind-blowing... how did they not see what was going on? I guess you could say my instincts were right, but it's still hard to believe so many people would put their faith in some shady day care center 🤯.
