Queens DA: Man stabbed on E train after scolding rider over loud phone call

Violent Confrontation on the E Train Sparks Charges Against Brooklyn Man

A heated dispute over a loud cellphone call on the E train escalated into violence, leaving a fellow commuter with broken ribs and a stab wound. The 54-year-old victim was waiting to board the train at Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer station when he confronted Johnny Wood, a 50-year-old Brooklyn resident, about his loud conversation.

According to authorities, Wood then pulled out a knife and attacked the victim, stabbing him once in the ribcage area before getting off the train. The suspect fled the scene but was later arrested in Brooklyn on Tuesday.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital with injuries including broken ribs, a stab wound, and an injury to his chest. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz condemned the incident, stating that "every New Yorker knows how important it is to be able to travel on mass transit safely."

Wood has been charged with attempted murder, assault, and weapons offenses in connection with the incident. He appeared in court earlier this week and was remanded back into custody until his next appearance on Friday.

🀯 just heard about this crazy thing that happened on the E train... like what's going through someone's head to pull out a knife over a loud phone call πŸ“±πŸ˜‘? I'm all for being considerate of others, but a stab wound? That's just wild. And poor dude who got stabbed - broken ribs and a chest injury? 😷 hope he's gonna be okay.

I know it's not the first time this kind of thing has happened on public transportation, sadly. πŸ€• But still, it's super scary for people like that victim who don't deserve to get hurt like that. πŸ’” And what's with the guy who pulled the knife? What's his story? Why was he so angry or upset over a phone call? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ maybe we can learn from this incident and just try to be more considerate of others, you know? πŸ™

πŸš‚πŸ˜± Can you believe what's going on on our public transportation?! I'm all for being able to make a call when I'm stuck on the train, but come on! πŸ“ž It's like some people have no consideration for others around them. And now this guy's gonna face serious consequences... 😬 54-year-old dude almost lost his life over a loud phone call. Can't we all just keep the peace and respect each other's space? 🀝

I'm so surprised no one's talking about how ridiculous it is that the guy got in trouble for having a loud cellphone call... I mean, what's wrong with people these days? Can't we just chill out and have a conversation without making a scene? πŸ™„ The victim waited around to confront him about being loud, that's some aggressive behavior right there! And then Wood gets arrested for having a knife? That's just crazy talk. It's like they're looking for someone to blame. What if the guy was just trying to defend himself? Or what if he wasn't even carrying a knife in the first place?! The DA is all about safety, but how safe are we when people can get charged for having a loud phone call on public transportation? πŸ€”

Man... thinkin' about this train thing that happened in Brooklyn πŸš‚πŸ˜¬. You gotta wonder what's goin' through someone's head when they start yellin' at a stranger 'cause they're talkin' loud on their phone 😳. Is it really worth losin' your cool like that? I mean, can't you just take a deep breath and tune out the noise for a sec? πŸ™

And then there's this dude Wood... poor guy gets stabbed in the ribs 'cause someone else couldn't handle their own emotions πŸ€•. It's like, we're all human beings, right? We should be tryin' to understand each other instead of hurtin' each other's feelings or our bodies πŸ’”.

You know what I think is saddest about this whole thing? The fact that a guy has to get injured just 'cause someone else can't keep their cool πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. It makes me think about how we need to work on ourselves and be better neighbors to each other πŸ‘₯.

Ugh, train drama 😩. Like, can't we all just chill on the E train? πŸ™„ I know it's easy to get frustrated when someone's blasting their phone, but violence is never the answer 🚫. And what's with the knife? Did he really think that was gonna help his situation? πŸ˜‚ Anyway, broken ribs and a stab wound are super serious injuries. Glad the victim is alive, though πŸ’•. It just makes me want to redesign the train layout to include more open spaces and quiet zones πŸ€”... maybe even some acoustic panels? 🎧 Would make the whole commuting experience so much better 😌.

.. can't believe what's happenin' on our trains these days 🀯! You got people yellin' and screamin', and then it escalates to actual violence? It's like, personal space, man... we need to respect that. And a knife? That's just not cool, bro 😬. I remember when you could have a convo on the train without everyone around you losin' their mind, and then there were actual conversations about life and stuff πŸ“±. Now it's all about bein' quiet or facin' some kinda backlash... what happened to us? πŸ˜”

can u believe this dude Wood pulled out a knife on some poor guy for being loud on his phone? like whats the big deal? cant he just turn it off or put it on silent mode?? 🀯 and what kinda stupid move is that to stab someone in the ribs? sounds like a total psycho to me 🚫. how many ppl have to get hurt before ppl like Wood learn to respect others personal space?? πŸ™„ and btw, Queens DA is all like "safety first" but where was she when this was happening on the train?? seems like 2nd thoughts now that its in the papers lol πŸ“°

OMG u guys I'm still shaken after reading about dis E train incident 🀯 I mean I've seen some crazy stuff happenin' on public transportation but stabbin someone over a loud call? that's just wild 😲 I feel so bad for the victim he musta been in so much pain waitin' to board the train and then BAM gets attacked πŸ’” I'm glad the police were able to catch the guy tho it's not cool how people can turn violent over nothin' like that πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ and yeah DA Katz said somethin right about everyone havin' a right to feel safe on the subway

🀬 Can't believe this is still happening on our trains πŸš‚πŸ˜‘ What's wrong with people these days?! Someone gets a little loud on their phone and suddenly it's like the end of the world? The victim was just trying to do his job, waiting for a train... next thing you know, he's got broken ribs and a stab wound! 😱 And now this guy Wood is getting charged with attempted murder 🀯 like what even is that supposed to be? A little knife ain't gonna stop nobody... we need some common sense on these trains already πŸ’‘πŸ˜’

Man, can't believe people still gotta resort to violence over a stupid phone call πŸ™„πŸ˜‘. Like, can't you just keep it down for one second? Anyway, I think the E train needs to step up their security tho. All these crazy incidents happening on that line and they still don't have cameras everywhere? It's like they're asking for trouble. And what's with the dude who pulled out a knife? Like, did he really think he was gonna get away with it? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸš«

can't believe this happens on our trains πŸš‚πŸ˜± we should have some kind of service that encourages ppl to turn their phones off or put them on silent mode, like how they do in airports or shopping malls... something's gotta change, our commuters deserve better than being put through physical harm just because someone's being a noise polluter 🀯

Ugh man, can you believe what's going on here 🀯? Like, a heated argument over a loud phone call turns into actual violence? It's just crazy how quickly things escalate, you know? 😱 And to think someone ended up with broken ribs and a stab wound... it's just heartbreaking πŸ’”. And the fact that this guy Wood had to resort to carrying around a knife in the first place is just alarming πŸ€•.

I'm not sure what's going on in our society right now, but it feels like we're losing sight of basic human decency. Can't we all just get along and try to resolve conflicts peacefully? 🀝 It's not that hard, people! Let's strive for more empathy and compassion, especially when it comes to something as simple as a phone call πŸ’¬.

omg can u believe dis?? some guy gets stabbed on the train because he called out another dude for talkin loud on his phone? like what's wrong w these ppl? I'm still tryna process why someone would do somethin so senseless πŸ˜±πŸš‚. I mean I get it, bein on public transportation can be stressful, but stabbing someone over a cellphone call is just crazy talk πŸ’€. I feel bad for the victim, hope he recovers soon 🀞. And what's w/ these knife attacks 2? Can't we just resolve our issues peacefully without hurtin each other? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I'm all about platform loyalty, not some violent drama on the E train πŸ˜‚πŸ’―

Ugh, I remember when people used to just talk on their phones without being so loud, you know? It's like everyone's walking around with a megaphone now! I saw this guy on the subway the other day and he was playing music on his phone at max volume, I wanted to grab my ears lol. But I guess some people don't think about how their behavior affects others.

This whole thing with Johnny Wood is just sad, though. Broken ribs and a stab wound? That's crazy! I feel for the guy who got attacked, he could've gotten seriously hurt or worse. And now Wood's facing some serious charges... it's just a shame that things escalated like that.

I'm not sure what's going on with people these days, but it seems like there's always something more intense than before. Remember when we used to just deal with little annoyances and move on? Now it feels like everything's so heated all the time.

OMG can you even believe what's going on in NYC right now? 😱 I mean I've seen some crazy stuff on the train butstabbing someone over a phone call is just insane 🀯 like what kinda world are we living in where people think they can just take out another human being for being rude to them? 🚫 I'm all for keeping it low key on the train, especially when you're trying to chill and get to work but violence isn't the answer πŸ˜” And can we talk about how quickly the guy escaped after stabbing someone and then got caught a few hours later? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Like what's the protocol here?! Anyway, justice will be served I guess... πŸ‘Š
