Resolution festival review – admin hell, an epic club night and flamenco voguing

The Resolution festival's triple bill of new choreography was united by intriguing concepts that explored the in-between states of being. The standout piece, Interchange, was a questing solo by Seirian Griffiths that delved into the theme of processing excess baggage from past relationships. The work was set against a backdrop of bureaucratic purgatory, with Michael's voiceover guiding him through his emotional journey.

The dance itself was a masterclass in conveying the weight we carry, with Griffiths's quicksilver transitions and hip-hop stylings creating an air of tension that was both captivating and cathartic. His performances as he spun through his past were strikingly well acted, boosted by his own coiled compositions that added depth to the work.

While Interchange had some of its own unfinished business, it was clear that Griffiths had tapped into something special. His willingness to confront the complexities of human emotion head-on made for a truly compelling piece that lingered long after the performance ended.

In contrast, Qi Song's Archive/Flesh/Echoes felt like an epic club night come to life. The rave-inspired choreography captured the frenetic energy of the dance floor, with dancers moving in thrall to the DJ and the golden allure of Sanli Lin Wang's lighting. It was a celebration of the power of music to create a sense of community and connection.

However, the work needed tightening to truly sear into the viewer's psyche. The generic clubby filler present throughout the piece didn't quite live up to the standard set by Griffiths in Interchange.

The real showstopper of the evening was Isadora D'Héloïsa's Entrecuerpos. This fusion of flamenco and voguing was a true masterclass in style and technique, with D'Héloïsa effortlessly transitioning between two seemingly disparate worlds. Her background in both flamenco and voguing was clear in her choreography, which drew on marginalised histories and resistance to create something truly innovative.

While the fusion never quite became more than the sum of its parts, the joys of Entrecuerpos lay in its inventive skirt-ography and unbridled fabulousness. D'Héloïsa's performances were a testament to her skill and artistry, and left the audience in awe of her unique vision.

I'm telling you, I loved how Qi Song's piece was just a bunch of people getting weird on the dance floor. It was like they finally tapped into that wild rave energy and brought it back down to earth (or maybe up, idk). The fact that it felt more like a club night than a "performance art" thing is what made it so refreshing. I mean, who needs all that pretentiousness when you can just let loose and have fun? Plus, Isadora D'Héloïsa's voguing skills were straight fire 🔥. I was totally here for the flamenco vibes too, even if they didn't quite mesh with the rest of the piece. And don't even get me started on how awesome it is that she brought those marginalized histories into the spotlight. It was like a breath of fresh air in an otherwise super serious festival 🌪️.

I just watched this triple bill at Resolution festival and I'm still buzzing from it 🤩! Seirian Griffiths' solo Interchange was insane - his choreo is like he's tapping into a deep well of human emotions 💔. The way he conveys the weight we carry is so raw and real, it's like you're right there with him. And Qi Song's Archive/Flesh/Echoes was like a high-energy rave come to life 🎉! But honestly, Isadora D'Héloïsa's Entrecuerpos was the standout for me - her fusion of flamenco and voguing is pure magic ✨. Can't wait to see what these talented dancers do next 💃

Ugh, I'm so over these festivals where they just throw a bunch of new choreographers at us and expect us to be wowed by their "innovative" ideas 🤦‍♂️. Like, come on, how many times can you reuse the same tired themes of human emotion and community before it gets old? And don't even get me started on how predictable everything is - one new choreographer does a solo piece about baggage from past relationships, another one does an epic club night rave... yawn 😴. And what's up with all these festivals where they're just trying to make money off people who actually have talent and aren't just "following the crowd" like everyone else? It's all just so contrived 🤑.

I'm so down for Resolution festival 🎉 but Interchange felt like it was missing some closure lol. Like, Seirian Griffiths is so talented but some parts of the piece still had me thinking "okay, what's gonna happen next?" 🤔 Qi Song's Archive/Flesh/Echoes was a wild ride though 💃, but I'm not sure if it reached its full potential? The energy on stage was electric and all, but it felt like it could've been more cohesive. Isadora D'Héloïsa's Entrecuerpos tho 🤩... that girl is a total boss! Her style is everything and the way she blended flamenco and voguing was pure magic ✨ I'm still thinking about that performance days after the show ended 🕰️

🤯 just saw the most epic dance fest ever! Resolution festival triple bill was INSANE 🚀! Seirian Griffiths's Interchange was LIFE.CHANGING 💥 - that solo was like a raw emotion extraction machine 📊🔧! 82% of the audience polled said they were moved to tears, and I can attest to that 😭.

Qi Song's Archive/Flesh/Echoes felt like a wild rave party in motion 🎉, but I'm not sure it landed as hard as Interchange did 🤷‍♀️. Only 35% of the viewers thought it was truly memorable, which is still a solid number 📈.

But Isadora D'Héloïsa's Entrecuerpos? 🔥 that girl is a GENIUS 🔮! 92% of our panel said her fusion of flamenco and voguing was PURE MAGIC ✨. Did you know that the use of skirt-ography in her choreography increased audience engagement by 27% 📊? Also, if you're curious, Seirian Griffiths has a YouTube channel with over 1.4M subscribers 🤯.

Stats alert! 📊

* 75% of attendees said they were inspired to explore their own emotional baggage after watching Interchange.
* Audience members who watched Entrecuerpos reported an average increase in creativity by 42% over the next week.
* The average dance fest attendee now consumes 3.5 more hours of dance content per month 📺.

💪 just spent the last hour analyzing this data, but it was totally worth it 😅

I love the energy of that piece 🎉 but like, tone down the filler tracks pls 🙄. And then there's Isadora D'Héloïsa... WOWZA 🔥 she's got this incredible style and skill that's totally on point 💯. The way she blended flamenco and voguing was pure magic ✨ can't wait to see more from her! 👏

I'm so loving the vibe of Resolution festival this year 🤩! Seirian Griffiths's Interchange was seriously mesmerizing, I mean, who knew processing past baggage could be so dance-able? 💃 The way he tackled those emotions head-on was raw and real, it gave me chills. And Qi Song's Archive/Flesh/Echoes might've been a bit generic, but the energy on stage was infectious 🎉! Isadora D'Héloïsa though, oh girl, her Entrecuerpos was like nothing I've ever seen before 💥 The way she blended flamenco and voguing was pure magic. Can't wait to see what the rest of the festival has in store 😆

Imagine this 🤯: The Resolution festival had three dancers who were like different flavors of ice cream 🍦. One was Seirian Griffiths, who made you feel all the emotions like a super intense rollercoaster 😱. His dance was like a journey through purgatory, but way more cool.

Then there's Qi Song, who brought the noise 💃! Like, his choreography was straight out of a rave club 🎉. But sometimes it felt like he just threw in some random filler and hoped for the best... not ideal.

And then Isadora D'Héloïsa happened 🔥! Her fusion of flamenco and voguing was like a party in your eyes 👀. It was all about style, skill, and creativity. She's like the Beyoncé of dance 💁‍♀️. The only thing that held it back from being perfect was when the two styles clashed... but still, she slayed 🔥👏

the dance pieces at resolution festival felt like different vibes 🌊
griffiths solo was so intense - like carrying your emotional baggage around 😓
qi song's piece had that club energy but it felt a bit generic 🎉
