The new feature automatically applies optimized game settings for 40 supported titles, including Fortnite, Gears of War: Reloaded, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Forza Horizon 5, Minecraft, and others.
The ROG Xbox Ally will automatically activate "per-game" profiles when the device is not plugged in, boosting frames per second (FPS) to a target level. This trades off a bit of battery life for a smoother gameplay experience. Conversely, if the game exceeds the target FPS, the device limits FPS to save power.
As an example, Microsoft claims that activating the default profile for Hollow Knight: Silksong can add nearly an hour of battery life compared to Performance mode while maintaining 120 FPS. This feature applies to other titles such as Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sea of Thieves, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
Users can toggle default game profiles on or off using the Armoury Crate Command Center. Microsoft is also rolling out several other updates for the Xbox ROG Ally, including improved library loading speed, faster performance on its cloud gaming page, and better gamepad response after logging in.
