Roy Keane says Man Utd have their 'swagger' back but thinks Old Trafford needs someone 'bigger and better' than Michael Carrick

Roy Keane believes Manchester United have regained their swagger following a 3-2 win against Arsenal, but the former midfielder is unconvinced that Michael Carrick is the right man to take the club to league title success.

Carrick has overseen two impressive wins in his short tenure as head coach, including the dramatic victory at Emirates Stadium. However, Keane's comments suggest he remains skeptical about Carrick's long-term prospects for the role.

"To be honest, I still don't think he's the man to get them winning league titles," Keane said on Sky Sports. "If United win every game until the end of the season, I still wouldn't be giving him the job."

Keane believes that a manager with more experience and a proven track record is needed at Old Trafford. He names Thomas Tuchel and Carlo Ancelotti as potential long-term replacements for Carrick.

"They need a bigger and better manager," Keane said. "The size of the club and the challenges they face over the next few years, you want a manager who you feel can get them winning league titles."

Despite his doubts about Carrick's ability to lead the team to long-term success, Keane acknowledges that the interim coach has done well in his short time at the helm. He praised Carrick's performances against Arsenal and Manchester City, but emphasized that much work remains to be done.

"It's only been 10 days, so it was never going to be perfect," Carrick said after securing his second win as head coach. "We couldn't expect to come here and suddenly dominate the whole game and the ball. We're just starting off, really."

Keane agrees with Carrick's assessment, but stresses that more needs to be done to build on recent performances.

"We need to put more layers on top, and we'll try to do that in the coming weeks," Keane said.

idk about this roy keane guy lol. seems like he's always having opinions πŸ€” anyway, i was thinking of getting a new gaming laptop soon but dont know if ill get it or not... think about how expensive them are πŸ’Έ also, did u catch that game against arsenal? what a comeback by man united ⚽️

I feel like Roy Keane is being kinda harsh on Michael Carrick πŸ€”. I mean, two wins already and he's still doing a great job, right? Maybe we should give him some more time instead of jumping on the bandwagon to say he's not good enough πŸ˜’. United need a solid foundation before they can start thinking about winning league titles. And yeah, Tuchel and Ancelotti would be awesome picks, but let's focus on Carrick for now πŸ‘.

Also, what's with everyone expecting Manchester United to win every game until the end of the season? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ That's just not realistic. A few wins don't make a season, and we need to see some consistency before we start talking about long-term success πŸ’ͺ.

I love how Carrick is keeping things humble, though 😊. He knows it's been 10 days and they're still getting the hang of things. Let's give him the support he needs instead of doubting his abilities right off the bat πŸ‘Œ

I'm loving Manchester United's recent resurgence πŸ’ͺπŸ”΅, but I gotta agree with Roy Keane - they need a bigger manager 🀝. Carrick has done a great job so far, especially against Arsenal and City, but he needs more experience to take them all the way in the league πŸ†. Tuchel or Ancelotti would be amazing additions πŸ™Œ!

I'm not sure I agree with Roy Keane about Michael Carrick being the right man for Manchester United... πŸ€” The guy's got experience, for crying out loud! He's just been thrown into a massive role after no time, and already he's getting results. Two wins in ten days isn't bad if you ask me. I think people are selling him short because of his reputation as an old-school midfielder, but at the end of the day, it's football, not chess πŸ“Š. If United keep winning games like they have been, maybe Carrick'll surprise us all and prove Keane wrong 😏.

I dont think keanes comments are entirely fair lol πŸ€”. He should at least give carrick a chance to prove himself for longer than 10 days πŸ‘€. Manchester United had some rough patches under olly guardiola and yet they still finished top of the league πŸ†. Maybe carrick just needs time to adjust his tactics and we'll see big improvements soon πŸ”“.

just got back from watching man united game lol πŸ˜‚πŸ’ͺ and i gotta say keane's comments about carrick are kinda surprising! i mean carrick did some great things against arsenal and city, but is he really the right guy to take them all the way? πŸ€” im not sure... maybe they need someone with more experience like tuchel or ancilotti? 🀝 they're doing a good job so far, but they gotta keep it up! πŸ‘

πŸ˜” I can imagine how tough it must be for Michael Carrick to step into such a big role after Roy Keane's comments πŸ€•. It's like, he's already doing his best with just 10 days under his belt, and we're expecting him to lead the team to league titles? That's a lot of pressure ⚠️.

I think what bothers me is that Keane is being kinda harsh on Carrick without giving him enough time πŸ’”. I mean, it's not easy to turn around a struggling team in just 2-3 games, and yet Carrick's already had two impressive wins πŸŽ‰. Don't get me wrong, Keane has every right to have doubts, but some constructive feedback would've been nice 😊.

What do you think? Am I being too sympathetic towards Carrick? πŸ€”

I don't usually comment but I think Roy Keane is being a bit harsh on Michael Carrick lol πŸ€”... like, two wins in ten days isn't bad at all, you know? πŸ™Œ Carrick seems to be doing alright, and he's got some decent results so far. But yeah, I agree with Keane that the club might need someone with more experience in the long run. Tuchel or Ancelotti would be good choices, but like, they're not exactly available right now πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ... anyway, I think United's performance is a step in the right direction, and fans should give Carrick some credit for what he's done so far πŸ‘

πŸ€” The thing is, I think Roy Keane has a point about Carrick needing more experience, but let's not forget the lad did just come out of retirement πŸ™Œ. 10 days in as head coach and he's already gotten two wins? That's impressive! πŸ’ͺ Maybe we should give him some time to settle in before we start looking for a bigger name? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ And btw, I'm loving the banter between Keane and Carrick πŸ˜„. It's like they're having a real conversation about football rather than just going through the motions πŸ‘

πŸ€” I think Roy Keane's concerns about Michael Carrick's long-term prospects are valid πŸ™. The fact that even with two impressive wins, he's still unsure if Carrick can lead United to league title success says a lot πŸ’―. As much as we'd love to see our teams succeed, it's essential to acknowledge the harsh reality of the situation πŸ”₯. We need more than just temporary fixes πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ; we require experienced managers who can build on recent performances and take us to the next level πŸš€.

omg i feel u keane πŸ˜‚ carrick is defo making progress but yeah u gotta wonder if he's got the long game πŸ•°οΈ won't say united are out of title contention just yet πŸ’ͺ 10 days in & already 2 wins? that's insane! still think they need someone with more baggage to handle all the drama at old trafford πŸ˜‚ tuchel or ancilotti would be solid picks πŸ‘

im not sure i agree with roy keane about michael carrick though πŸ€”, i mean two wins in 10 days is still pretty impressive, especially considering how tough arsenal and man city are! carrick might be more than just a glorified caretaker at this point... maybe he needs time to build his team and develop a strategy? we shouldn't write him off so quickly 😐

I think Roy Keane has a point about Manchester United needing a bigger manager to handle the pressure of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world πŸ€”. Carrick is doing okay for now, but you can't just coast on a few wins and expect to win titles πŸ”₯. They need someone with more experience like Tuchel or Ancelotti to come in and make some real changes πŸ‘Š. I'm not sure what Keane would have done differently as a manager, but it's clear he's got the club's best interests at heart πŸ’―. What do you guys think, should Manchester United stick with Carrick or bring in someone new? πŸ€”

idk how much faith keane has in carrick lol πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ i think he's right tho, they need someone with more exp and a proven track record like tuchel or ancilotti πŸ’ͺ especially after those 2 wins against arsenal it wasnt like they came from behind out of nowhere πŸ˜… what do u think though?

πŸ€• just heard roy keane say he thinks michael carrick's gonna struggle to win a league title with man utd, like what's next? πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ his 2 wins are cool and all, but it's only been 10 days lol. needs more than that to convince me 😴 anyways gotta give keane credit for keeping it real though πŸ‘Š

πŸ€” I'm not sure about this one, guys... Roy Keane thinks Michael Carrick is just holding back Manchester United? πŸ™„ Like, isn't he doing a pretty good job so far? 2 wins in as many games, yeah that's impressive! 😏 But Keane just needs to see more consistency and we'll be golden πŸ’―. Those other coaches he mentioned, though... 🀝 Tuchel and Ancelotti would definitely bring some serious know-how to the table πŸ”’. We need a long-term plan here, not just short-term fixes πŸ“ˆ

I think Roy Keane is right about Manchester United needing a bigger manager πŸ€”. They've been on a good run lately, but Carrick's got 10 days under his belt - it's still early days ⏰. I'm not convinced that he's the long-term solution either... maybe someone like Tuchel or Ancelotti would be better suited for the job? 🀝. They've got a lot of work to do to build on those recent wins, but they're on the right track πŸ”š.
