Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 1,366

Russia's War on Ukraine Enters 1,366th Day; Diplomacy Sees New Framework

As the conflict rages on for nearly 16 months, Russia's war on Ukraine has seen its share of devastating attacks and humanitarian crises. On Wednesday, a Russian missile strike on an apartment building in Ternopil killed at least 27 people, marking one of the deadliest single attacks since the invasion began.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts have intensified with the US and Russia drafting a new framework to end the war, including a 28-point plan proposed by former President Donald Trump. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's office, he received an update on this plan during a meeting with US Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll in Kyiv.

The proposal includes measures for "sequencing our work and formats for dialogue" as well as new impulses for diplomacy. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt described it as a "good plan for both Russia and Ukraine, and we believe it should be acceptable to both sides." However, the plan's implementation will require buy-in from all parties involved.

In Brussels, EU foreign policy head Kaja Kallas emphasized that any plan needs Ukrainians and Europeans on board. The European Union has also imposed sanctions on 10 individuals responsible for serious human rights abuses in Russia.

As Ukraine approaches its fourth winter since Russia launched its invasion, humanitarian agencies are warning of the dire situation. Over 3.7 million people are displaced, while nearly six million have become refugees. Edem Wosornu, director of the Crisis Response Division of the OCHA, briefed the UN Security Council on the devastating impact of the war.

In addition to the attacks and diplomatic efforts, Russia has been actively engaged in combat operations across Ukraine. The death toll from these clashes continues to rise, with reports indicating that Russian forces have seized key settlements such as Maslikovka and Yampil near Lyman in Donetsk region.

However, it's worth noting that the conflict remains far from over, with both sides continuing their fight for control.

Ugh man I cant even imagine whats going on there πŸ€•πŸ’” 1,366 days is just crazy... like what does that even look like to you? A never ending cycle of violence & loss. The diplomatic efforts are a good start tho 🀝, but its gonna take more than just a plan to fix this mess. Ukraine needs our support & attention on this ASAP ⏰.

omg u guys i cant even right now 🀯 i was literally watching a video of russian missiles hitting an apartment building in ternopil and its just so heartbreaking 27 ppl lost their lives πŸ™ meanwhile the us russia are trying to draft this new framework to end the war which sounds good on paper but what if its not gonna work thru? πŸ˜” & did u know that edem wosornu from the ocha is briefing the un security council about the dire situation 🀯 3.7 million ppl displaced & 6 mil refugees can we even handle this? πŸ’”

I don’t usually comment but I gotta say, 1,366 days is a looong time to be stuck in this war 🀯. It’s crazy to think about how much lives have been lost and how many people have been displaced. The fact that there's still no clear end in sight makes it all feel super hopeless πŸ˜”.

I do appreciate the effort to draft a new framework, but I'm not sure if it's enough to bring both sides together. I mean, it's one thing to agree on a plan, but another thing entirely to actually make it happen πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

It’s like, what's the point of having all these diplomats and leaders talking about peace if we're not gonna take any concrete action? I know there are a lot of complexities involved, but at the end of the day, someone has gotta be willing to make some tough decisions πŸ’ͺ.

Ugh, this whole situation is so messed up 😩. 1,366 days into a war that's caused so much suffering and displacement... can't we just talk this out already? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I mean, Russia and Ukraine are basically being led around by the nose of diplomacy here. Where's the leadership from either side? πŸ’‘

And what's with all these new frameworks and proposals? We've got 28 points to agree on... good luck with that! 😴 The EU's imposing sanctions, but what about real help for those affected by this conflict? 🀝 It feels like everyone's just talking around it without actually doing anything.

I mean, I know diplomatic efforts are a thing, but can't we find a better way to resolve conflicts than through military action and empty promises? πŸ€” It's not like we haven't seen this before... Russia's been making aggressive moves for years now. When will they stop? πŸ™„

πŸ€” so its been like 1,366 days of this war in ukraine and stuff is still super bad 🚨 at least 27 ppl died from a russian missile strike and its getting to be like fourth winter for them already ❄️ humanitarian agencies are saying it's a total crisis over there with 3.7 million ppl displaced and 6 mil more refugees πŸ‘₯

i feel bad for the ppl living in ukraine rn they deserve so much better than this conflict 🀝 i dont think russia is gonna back down anytime soon tho πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ they need to figure out a way to get all parties involved on board with some kinda plan or something πŸ’‘ like whats up with donald trump proposing a 28-point plan tho πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ and whats going on in brussels πŸ€”

"Hope is not always easy on earth." πŸŒŽπŸ’” The situation in Ukraine remains dire, and the humanitarian crisis deepens by the day. 3.7 million people displaced, six million refugees... it's heartbreaking. We need to keep pushing for peace, but it's clear that diplomatic efforts are necessary too. Can we get all parties involved on board? πŸ’ͺ

πŸ˜• Can you imagine living like 3.7 million people who got displaced from their homes? 🀯 That's a huge number! It's been almost a year and a half since Russia invaded Ukraine, and it feels like it's never going to end... πŸ’” I wish the world could just stop for a second and think about what's really important here. 🌎 We need to focus on finding solutions that work for everyone involved, not just one side or the other.

I'm a bit skeptical about this new framework being proposed by Trump, though. 😐 How do we know it'll actually lead to peace? Has anyone even thought through all the potential consequences? πŸ€” What if Russia doesn't agree to some of the terms? Or what if Ukraine's not ready for peace? πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ It just seems like a lot of variables that need to be considered.

I do love that EU is stepping up and imposing sanctions on people responsible for human rights abuses, though. πŸ‘ That takes courage! We need more leaders who are willing to stand up for what's right, even if it's hard. πŸ’ͺ

πŸ€• "The truth is rarely pure and never simple." - Oscar Wilde 🌫️ Ukraine's situation is getting more complicated by the day, with no clear end in sight to this devastating war πŸ˜” The human cost keeps rising, with innocent lives lost daily πŸ’€

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this endless war 🀯. 1,366 days is a crazy amount of time, and I can only imagine how devastating it must be for those affected by the constant attacks πŸ€•. The new diplomatic framework being proposed is definitely a positive step forward πŸ’‘, but we need to see some real action from both sides before this plan becomes a reality ⏱️.

I'm also really worried about the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Ukraine ❄️. 3.7 million people displaced and nearly six million more as refugees? That's just heartbreaking 😭. We need to keep the pressure on Russia to stop their military operations and focus on finding a peaceful solution πŸ’¬.

The fact that the EU is imposing sanctions on individuals responsible for human rights abuses in Russia is also a major step in the right direction 🚫. I hope the US, EU, and other international powers can work together to bring this conflict to an end soon πŸ’ͺ.

I just heard about this new plan between Russia and US 🀝... sounds kinda promising? But at the same time, I'm thinking about Ukraine and how long has it been since the war started? πŸ•°οΈ 1,366 days is like, forever! We should be thinking of ways to help those people living in displaced areas... my school's charity drive raised some money last year, maybe we can do something similar for this cause πŸ€—

I'm getting old, remember when the Soviet Union and Cold War were a thing? πŸ™„ Russia's been at war with Ukraine since Feb 2022, it feels like just yesterday we were scrolling through memes about Zelenskyy on Twitter 🀣 Now they're drafting a new plan to end this mess... I'm not sure what's more exhausting, the conflict or waiting for world leaders to figure things out 😩 Has anyone seen that documentary about the Chernobyl disaster? At least we learned something from that... maybe Russia will learn too? πŸ€”

Man, this war is so messed up πŸ€•... I don't get why we're still talking about a new plan after all these months? It feels like just a bunch of lip service to me πŸ’β€β™€οΈ. And what's with the EU imposing sanctions on 10 individuals and expecting them to magically make everything better? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ It's just a drop in the bucket, you know?

I'm all for finding ways to end this conflict, but we need to talk about the root cause of it – the fact that Russia is still over there with its tanks and missiles. What's gonna stop them from just moving back in once the plan is implemented? πŸ€” And what about the humanitarian crisis? We're talking about 3.7 million displaced people and six million refugees... how are we supposed to recover from this? πŸ’Έ

I guess I'm just a skeptic, but it feels like everyone's playing chess while the pawns are getting killed on the battlefield 🎲. Can't we just talk about finding a peaceful solution already? 😩

πŸ€• I'm getting really worried about this war and its effects on innocent people 🌎 Ukraine is going through so much trauma right now - the attacks, displacement of millions... it's just heartbreaking πŸ˜”. Diplomacy is a good thing, but we need to see real progress soon ⏱️. The US has proposed a new framework with a 28-point plan, which sounds promising πŸ“. But will Russia and Ukraine be able to put their differences aside? πŸ’¬ It's all about buy-in from both sides now 🀝. EU is doing its part by imposing sanctions on human rights abusers in Russia πŸ‘Š. We need more support for humanitarian efforts 🌟 - 3.7 million displaced, that's crazy numbers πŸ“Š. I just hope this conflict ends soon and people can go back to living their lives without fear πŸ˜•

πŸ€• This war is taking a huge toll on innocent people, like those who lost their lives in Ternopil. It's heartbreaking to think about families left behind without loved ones πŸ€°β€β™€οΈ. I'm not sure what's going to happen with this new framework, but I hope it brings some peace soon ⏰. The numbers are staggering – 3.7 million displaced and six million refugees... how are they supposed to rebuild their lives? 😩 We just have to keep watching the situation unfold and hoping for a better future πŸ’•.

🀯 27 deaths is crazy, like 27 ppl lives lost in one minute πŸ•°οΈ Russia's war on Ukraine just hit 1,366th day πŸ“† and it's still going strong πŸ’₯ According to UN, over 3.7 million displaced & nearly six million refugees πŸ‘₯ EU imposed sanctions on 10 individuals responsible for human rights abuses in Russia 🀝 Now we need a solution, not more attacks 🚫

πŸ“Š Did u know?
- Since 2014, Ukraine conflict costs around $200 billion πŸ’Έ
- Over 16 months of war, over 7,500 ppl killed πŸ•°οΈ
- Ukraine's GDP dropped by 70% since 2022 πŸ“‰
- Every day, over 1,000 civilians affected by conflict in Ukraine 🚫

🀝 Let's focus on peace! We need diplomatic efforts to work πŸ™ We can't keep living with this uncertainty & fear 😬
