Sánchez nightmare suggests Rosenior will soon have to show his ruthless side | Jacob Steinberg

Liam Rosenior is facing an increasing sense of desperation as his Chelsea side teeters on the brink of elimination from the Carabao Cup semi-final. The 41-year-old manager's inability to stem the tide of goals against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal has raised questions about his long-term viability at the helm of the Blues.

Rosenior's tactics have been called into doubt, with his team struggling to cope with the physicality and intensity of their opponents. While there were moments of bravery and enterprising play from Chelsea, they were ultimately unable to match the quality and cohesion of Arsenal.

The contrast between the two teams was stark, with Arsenal demonstrating why they are one of the top teams in the Premier League. They performed on both sides of the game, showcasing their attacking flair and defensive solidity. In contrast, Chelsea looked disjointed and lacking in depth, with their lack of experience evident in their performance.

The criticism of Rosenior is not entirely unfounded, however. His decision to start Robert Sánchez as goalkeeper has been widely questioned, and his inability to inspire his team to a more decisive victory has raised concerns about his ability to lead Chelsea to major honors.

As the first leg drew to a close with Arsenal leading 4-0, it seemed increasingly likely that Rosenior would face the sack. While he may yet have a chance to turn the tie around in the second leg, the writing is on the wall for the former Leeds United manager.

It's clear that Rosenior needs to show his ruthless side if Chelsea are to challenge Arsenal for major honors. He must make tough decisions and put his players' interests ahead of sentiment, even if it means sacrificing some of his own favorites. Until he can demonstrate this level of pragmatism, the speculation about his future will continue to mount.

For now, however, Rosenior is left to pick up the pieces and try to salvage what's left of his season. He knows that the pressure is on, and that failure to deliver in the next match will make it almost impossible for him to escape the axe. The question remains: can he find a way to stop Arsenal's momentum and set his team on the path to victory?

🤔 This Rosenior situation is getting intense 🚨. I feel bad for the guy, he's under so much pressure & it shows on the pitch 😬. I think he needs to take a hard look at his team selection & tactics 👀. Starting Sánchez in goal was a risk, and it didn't pay off 🤦‍♂️. But you can't just blame one decision – Rosenior's overall strategy seems to be lacking 💔. He needs to be more ruthless, make tough decisions, and prioritize his players' interests 📈. It's not easy being the manager of a top team like Chelsea 🌟, but he's got some big-time experience under his belt 👍. Still, if he can't turn this season around, it might be time to think about moving on ⏰. The question is, can he dig deep & find a way to stop Arsenal's momentum? 🤞

I feel bad for Rosenior, mate 😔. He's been with Chelsea for ages and has always shown dedication, but this semi-final is a nightmare. I think he needs to shake things up big time 🔄, make some tough calls, and trust his gut. Starting Sánchez in goal was a weird decision, imo 😕. That's not gonna cut it when you're playing against top teams like Arsenal.

He needs to bring out the best in his players, even if it means benching some of their faves 👋. It's time for him to show some ruthless pragmatism 💼 and stop playing it safe all the time 🙅‍♂️. I'm not saying he's a bad manager or anything, but this is a huge wake-up call for him ⏰.

I hope he can regroup and come back stronger in the next match 💪. We've seen some great comebacks in football history, so maybe Rosenior just needs to draw on that 🙏. Either way, it's gonna be an interesting second leg 😅.

I'm like totally worried about Chelsea right now 🤕! I mean, they're getting creamed by Arsenal 4-0 in the Carabao Cup semi-final. Liam Rosenior's tactics are being called into question and I don't blame people for wondering if he's got what it takes to lead them to major honors. The guy needs to show his ruthless side and make some tough decisions, like starting Robert Sánchez as goalkeeper (although that was a pretty weird choice). It's gonna be hard for him to turn this around in the second leg but he's gotta try. I'm rooting for Chelsea though, they've got some talented players. Maybe Rosenior can find a way to stop Arsenal's momentum and get them back in the game 💪🏽

I think Rosenior needs to be realistic about his squad's strengths & weaknesses 🤔. He started Sánchez as goalkeeper, who's not exactly known for his shot-stopping skills 😳. That decision might come back to haunt him. Chelsea's youth & inexperience showed against a well-oiled Arsenal team 👦. It's tough to make decisions when you're under pressure, but Rosenior needs to suck it up and make the right choices 💪. He can't just pick his favorites; he has to put the team first ⚽️. Can he adapt & inspire his squad to a comeback? That's the million-dollar question 🤑

I'm low-key shocked by how bad Chelsea got drubbed 🤯😱. It's like they didn't even show up to that game 💔. Rosenior needs to take a hard look at himself and figure out what went wrong 🤔. Sticking with Sánchez in goal was a major mistake, imo 🙅‍♂️. And yeah, the fact that they couldn't match Arsenal's intensity and quality is a huge red flag 🔴.

It's not like I'm asking for much, just some decent performances and maybe, just maybe, a chance to beat Arsenal in this tie 🤞. But it seems like Rosenior's time at Chelsea might be numbered ⏰. Can he find his edge again and turn things around? I'll believe it when I see it 😐.

I'm telling ya, this whole thing feels like the 90s all over again... Chelsea's got their back against the wall, and it's gonna take some serious grit and determination to turn this around. Rosenior needs to be like Gazza in his heyday - fearless, ruthless, and willing to make the tough calls. This is the same kind of pressure that led to Kenny Dalglish getting sacked at Liverpool all those years ago 🤯 It's gonna be a tough one for Rosenior, but I still think he's got it in him to turn this around...

man i feel bad for liam rosenior 😔 he's been doing a tough job at chelsea and it's clear that things aren't going as planned but i think he needs to take a deep breath and remember that one game doesn't define him ⏰ the first leg was just the start of the tie and there's still so much time left for him to turn it around 🔥 besides, arsenal is an incredible team and they were on fire last night 🌟 Rosenior can learn a lot from their performance and maybe even pick up some new ideas to bring back to chelsea 💡

omg u guys im literally shook rn i was watching this match and i could feel the desperation emanating from liam rosenior's sidelines lol his tactics are so suspect idk how he expects to turn it around now lol he needs to take some drastic measures or get sacked for sure 🤦‍♂️ i mean robert sánchez as goalkeeper was a joke lol what was going through his mind 🙄 and that 4-0 scoreline was just brutal for chelsea fans rn u feel me? 😩
