"Saturday Night Live": Epstein emails are breakout star of Glen Powell-led episode

Saturday Night Live Takes on Epstein Emails in Scathing Sketches

The latest episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL) tackled the highly publicized Jeffrey Epstein case, with writers cleverly incorporating his recently released emails into several sketches. The show's cold open set the tone for a week of controversy surrounding President Donald Trump and his alleged association with Epstein.

In one biting sketch, Karoline Leavitt played a White House press secretary who candidly dismissed Trump's claims that he "did nothing wrong." The remark took on a sinister tone when Leavitt dropped her mask to assert that the president was guilty of loving "too much" – and possibly too young. The sketch showcased a side of Trump that few have seen before, as James Austin Johnson's portrayal expressed outrage at being likened to an otter.

Trump's response during the briefing seemed almost dismissive, particularly when pressed on his alleged friendship with Epstein. He jokingly suggested that he was more akin to a cub or otter than a "twink," seemingly unaware of the harm caused by his association with Epstein. The sketch's tone shifted quickly as Trump attempted to pivot, offering to release all Epstein files for $800 per document – at one point even holding up an email in a gilded frame that some have speculated could be linked to Trump and former President Bill Clinton.

SNL also dedicated nearly half of its 'ripped from the headlines' segment to Epstein, with Colin Jost and Michael Che trading jokes on Trump's alleged relationships. Jost noted that Trump had befriended "a number of sex offenders," pointing out connections to Epstein, Diddy, and Prince Andrew – making him the "Forrest Gump of meeting famous pedophiles." The sketches left few questions unanswered about President Trump's possible involvement with Epstein.

Finally, host Glen Powell joined returning veteran Will Forte in a sketch that parodied the show MacGyver. As MacGruber, Forte attempted to defuse a bomb while being distracted by the potential release of Epstein files – an attempt at bravado quickly derailed as his name appeared on nearly every page of the file. The sketches encapsulated the controversy surrounding Trump and Epstein, leaving viewers with little doubt about the depth of their possible connection.

The recent Epstein emails have sparked heated debate among news watchers, making SNL's handling of this topic particularly noteworthy.

I'm not buying it... 🤑 all these SNL sketches are just a bunch of cheap shots at Trump, they're trying to spin the whole Epstein thing and make him look like some kinda monster. Newsflash: just 'cause he knew Epstein doesn't mean he was in on whatever shady stuff that guy was up to. I mean, come on, $800 per email? That's just laughable... what's next, gonna start charging us for air we breathe or something 😂

I don’t usually comment but... I think it’s pretty crazy how Saturday Night Live went after Trump like that 🤯. The way they used his words against him and showed the dark side of his friendship with Epstein was straight fire 🔥. I mean, who knew Trump thought he could charm his way out of this one 😂? It’s not even funny anymore when he tries to downplay it or make jokes about it. It just shows how out of touch he is from reality. And that part where he offers to release all the files for $800 a pop 🤑... come on, dude! You can’t just monetize human lives like they’re nothing. SNL really did some great work in exposing this mess 💥.

🤔 I think it's totally wild that SNL went after Trump like that 🚨💥! They really didn't hold back on the jokes and called him out for his Epstein ties 💸👮‍♂️. It was actually kinda refreshing to see a satirical take on this whole thing #TruthRevealed 💡. I'm low-key hoping they keep pushing boundaries like that 🤷‍♀️ #SNL #EpilestControversy. Trump's response seemed pretty dodgy 🙅‍♂️, and I love how the SNL crew roasted him for it 🔥 #TrumpTakedown

I'm still reeling from that latest episode of SNL, it was like they took all the dark energy from those Epstein emails and distilled it into a few scathing sketches 😱. What really got me thinking, though, is how Trump's response seemed almost... detached? Like he's trying to maintain this façade of innocence, but we all know better 🤷‍♂️. And that joke about being like an otter? What does that even say about him? That he's more interested in playing with his toys than taking responsibility for his actions?

It makes me wonder, though, what would happen if we stopped pretending that these powerful men are above the law? If we stopped trying to sanitize their bad behavior and just called them out for who they are 😤. I mean, what's the point of having a "ripped from the headlines" segment if it's just going to perpetuate the same old narratives?

I guess what I'm saying is, SNL may have gotten some laughs in, but we need more than just satire to really start making progress on this issue 🤔. We need real change, and that starts with a willingness to confront the hard truths about our leaders and ourselves 💡.

omg I'm so glad they finally tackled this Epstein situation on SNL 🙌 it's like, we've been talking about this for years and still not getting any real answers from the gov 🤔 Trump's response to all these sketches is just cringeworthy lol "cub or otter"?? 🐻👀 I mean, come on Donald, you know what he was all about 💔 and SNL did an amazing job exposing him 👏 those jokes were spot on esp the one with James Austin Johnson 🤣 I'm not surprised they dedicated half of their segment to Epstein tho, it's like a whole different world of scandal 🌎

omg i'm low-key impressed by snl's latest episode lol they totally killed it with that epstein email sketch 🤣 karoline leavitt is a genius for playing that press secretary who just gets to spit truth fire while trump is trying to play dumb 🙄 like how can you even respond to being called an otter 🐻 and then offering to release all those files for $800 per doc what kinda logic is that ? 💸 anyway i love how they poked fun at the whole thing and showed us that maybe trump isn't as clueless as we thought 😂

I'm so done with these Epstein emails 🤯🚫. It's crazy how many people were close to Trump and still managed to get caught up in that whole mess 🤦‍♂️ #JusticeForVictims #EpsteinFiles #SNLDidItRight 📺. I mean, come on @realDonaldTrump, did you really think you could just brush off the whole "loving too much" thing 😂? That sketch by Karoline Leavitt was straight fire 🔥 and I'm not ashamed to say I laughed out loud 💀. The fact that he tried to pivot on it and offer to release all the files for $800 a pop is just laughable 🤑 #TrumpProbs #EpsteinFilesForSale 📉. SNL really did a great job of calling out Trump's BS this week, kudos to them 🙌!

omg can't believe what happened on saturday night live last week 🤯 they totally roasted trump for his ties to epstein those jokes were HILARIOUS!!! i mean karoline leavitt's character was everything and james austin johnson's otter impression had me dying 😂 the way trump tried to dismiss it all was just too much 💁‍♂️ it's crazy how snl can make you laugh AND think at the same time 🤔 the epstein emails are definitely a topic that needs more attention and snl did an amazing job of tackling it 👏

omg I'm still reeling from that macgyver sketch 🤣 Forte's character totally got roasted and his name being on every page was so relatable lol also that joke about him being the forrest gump of meeting famous pedophiles had me dead 😂 but what really got me was the way SNL tackled trump's response to the allegations, he seems so out of touch with reality 🙄

Man, can you even believe what Trump said in that sketch? Like, holding up an email like it's some kinda trophy 🤣 And trying to spin it as if he's the victim? No one buys that, fam. It's all about how deep his pockets are and how much he wants to avoid accountability 💸 The way SNL broke down his whole Epstein thing was so on point too - I mean, who else can say they've got "friends" with a string of pedophiles? 🤦‍♂️ For real tho, it's wild how some people think they're above the law just 'cause they're famous. Anyway, gotta give SNL props for speaking truth to power and keeping us informed 💡

I mean, who didn't see this coming? 🙄 The fact that Trump's team thought they could just release these emails and everyone would be all like "Oh no, he did nothing wrong!" is just... wow.

And can we talk about how ridiculous the otter comparison is? Like, James Austin Johnson's character getting upset because people are saying he's an otter with a certain type of friend list is just pure comedy gold 🤣.

But for real though, these sketches were some solid shade thrown at Trump and his Epstein connections. It's like SNL finally found the courage to call him out on this stuff, even if it is a bit late in the game.

i feel like snl went super deep into the jeffrey epstein thing 🤯 they showed how trump was being so dismissive and trying to downplay his association with epstein, while epstein himself was basically asking for favors from a bunch of powerful ppl in exchange for some 'favor' aka sex. it's wild that snl had those epstein emails to work with, i'm sure it made the sketches way more impactful than they would've been otherwise 📝

omg can you believe trump's response in that sketch? like he's trying to downplay his friendship with epstein and just ends up looking like a total weirdo 🤡 anyway i'm so here for snl taking on this super important topic - it's about time someone called him out on his shady dealings. karoline leavitt was absolute fire in that sketch, her delivery was so dry and sarcastic it was like she was reading from a script written by the devil himself 🔥

I'm literally shaking right now thinking about the sketches on SNL last night 🤯🤦‍♀️... I mean I know some people might say it was a bit too much but come on, these emails are wild! Like seriously $800 per document for Epstein files? That's just crazy talk 💸💔 And have you seen Trump trying to play it cool while talking about his "cub" analogy 🐻😂... I don't know what's more cringeworthy, the sketch or Trump's response 😳. But hey, at least SNL was willing to tackle this tough topic and ask some hard questions 🤔. As for me, I'm just over here feeling all the feels 🤷‍♀️... my anxiety is through the roof thinking about what might've happened with Epstein 😩.

I mean, come on... 80 million people can't be wrong about Donald Trump's connections to Epstein 😂. It's like, what even is going on with that guy? 🤯 The way he was trying to spin it all and downplay his involvement... not buying it 🚫. And the emails, oh man... they're just straight fire 🔥. I mean, who tries to hold up an email in a gilded frame like it's some kind of trophy 🏆? It's just so cringeworthy 🤣.

But for real though, SNL did an amazing job tackling this topic and getting people talking about it 💬. The sketches were on point, especially the one with Karoline Leavitt as the White House press secretary 👀. That was some dark humor right there 😂.

Anyway, I think we need to keep digging into these Epstein emails and find out what's really going on 🤔. It's time for someone to hold Trump accountable 🚫. Watched SNL last night, anyone else catch it? 📺

I'm kinda surprised they went for a harder hit on Trump this week 🤔. I think it's good that SNL is keeping the conversation going about this whole Epstein thing, though. It's like, we can't just ignore it and hope it goes away 💡. But at the same time, some of those jokes felt a bit mean-spirited, you know? Like, Trump's not exactly known for taking criticism well 😒. Still, I guess that's kind of the point - to make people uncomfortable and think about their own complicity in all this 🤷‍♂️. What do you think, did they go too far or was it necessary? 👀

I think it's kinda harsh to go after Trump like that, you know? I mean, the guy's been all over the news for months already. 🤔 He's just trying to get through his term without getting impeached or whatever. And with Epstein's emails coming out, it's like the media is just looking for ways to take him down. I'm not saying he's innocent or anything, but come on, let's not be too quick to judge. 🤷‍♂️

I also thought the sketch about the press secretary was kinda funny, but at the same time, it felt a bit mean-spirited. Like, yeah, Trump can be an idiot sometimes, but do we really need to mock him like that? 😂 I guess that's just the way SNL rolls, though - all about being provocative and pushing boundaries.

It's also worth noting that some of these sketches were pretty good at pointing out the inconsistencies in Trump's story. Like, who tries to joke about it when they're clearly hiding something? 🙄 But still, I wish the show would take a more nuanced approach to covering this whole thing. It feels like they're just trying to stir up controversy for its own sake.

I don’t usually comment but I just had to say that Saturday Night Live really knocked it out of the park with this episode 🤯. I mean, who knew they could make a sketch about Epstein emails so funny and sharp? The way they tackled Trump's response to being called out on his alleged friendship with Epstein was literally priceless 😂. And can we talk about how ridiculous Trump is acting like he's got nothing to hide? The otter thing 🐻 was just too much, I almost spit my drink out! 👀

I THINK IT'S TIME FOR SATNIGHT LIVE TO TACKLE SOME REAL ISSUES INSTEAD OF JUST MAKING FUN OF POLITICAL FIGURES!!! 🤦‍♂️ THE EPSTEIN CASE IS SERIOUS BUSINESS AND NEEDS TO BE HANDLED WITH RESPECT, NOT JUST USED AS A JOKE. I MEAN COME ON, $800 PER DOCUMENT FOR THOSE EMAILS?! THAT'S JUST OUTRAGEOUS! AND TRUMP'S RESPONSE WAS LIKE, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, MAN?! 😡
