So Schumer's package is like a "hybrid" deal - he takes some progressive ideas, but then watered them down for the GOP . It's like when you order a burger and they're all like "we'll give you lettuce and tomato, but no mayo" . And Senator Warren's just trying to play it cool, saying she'd rewrite immigration laws if she could, but we know she's just trying not to rock the boat . Anyway, this whole thing is just a big ol' mess - like trying to solve a puzzle while getting pied in the face
I think this whole thing is super weird... Schumer's proposal doesn't seem like a lot of progress, considering how much pressure progressive Democrats were putting on him for tougher reforms. It feels like they're just going through the motions now because they don't want to rock the boat? At least Senator Warren is speaking truth to power about the violence ICE agents are committing, that's something we should be focusing on!
this is such a bummer! I mean, i get why Schumer's trying to keep things together and all, but it feels like he's compromising too much on his own values. shouldn't the Dems be pushing for real change? instead of just tweaking the existing system. I'm low-key disappointed in some of my fave senators who are being super quiet about this stuff. it's not like they're not getting any attention - ICE agents are still committing those heinous acts, and Schumer's just trying to paper over it with a watered-down reform package
idk why ppl r so surprised Schumer's proposal isn't more radical lol he's still tryna get some kinda reform through, but it seems like even the progressives are holding back on being super vocal about their dissatisfaction with his plan... that's probs cuz they know it won't change the game as much as they'd like.
I'm so over this whole immigration reform thing... Schumer's proposal is all well and good, but where's the real change? I mean, cutting funding for ICE and CBP sounds great in theory, but what's the point if we're just gonna keep sending more money to DHS anyway? And let's be real, Schumer's "we might allow agents to wear masks in certain circumstances" is basically just a Band-Aid on a bullet wound. It's not like that's gonna stop the violence or make a difference. Meanwhile, Republicans are just being their usual obstructionist selves and refusing to budge... it's all just so frustrating
