SheWolf’s Anthony Lombardo readies to open Medusa in Detroit - Detroit Metro Times

Chef Anthony Lombardo, the mastermind behind popular Detroit eatery SheWolf Pastificio & Bar, is set to unleash his culinary vision in a new concept called Medusa Cucina Siciliana. The Italian restaurant will occupy a space previously inhabited by various short-lived concepts in Detroit's Midtown neighborhood.

Medusa's menu will be deeply rooted in the rich flavors and traditions of Sicily, as well as the broader Mediterranean region. Think pasta, seafood, and classic Sicilian dishes elevated to new heights. Chef Lombardo is clear about his intentions: "The food's simple: olive oil, capers, olives, tomatoes, anchovies." He plans to tell the story of Sicily through every bite, dish, and interaction at Medusa.

Lombardo, who co-owns SheWolf with his partner, will bring a new level of authenticity to the table. According to Hour Detroit magazine, Medusa's menu will showcase Lombardo's expertise in Italian cuisine, with a focus on showcasing the unique flavors and ingredients of Sicily.

The restaurant is currently undergoing renovations by Patrick Thompson Design, who have previously worked on high-profile projects such as the Monarch Club and AC Hotel Detroit at the Bonstelle. The interior design firm aims to create an immersive dining experience that will transport customers to the sun-kissed Mediterranean coast.

Medusa Cucina Siciliana is set to open its doors in late December or early January, offering Detroiters a new culinary destination that promises to deliver authentic, delicious Italian cuisine with a touch of Sicilian flair.

omg i'm so down for this new medusa restaurant 🍝👀! italian food is my fave and sicily sounds like an amazing inspiration for the menu. chef lombardo's focus on simple ingredients like olive oil, capers, and anchovies has me super excited to try it all out 😋. i mean, who doesn't love a good pasta dish with fresh seafood? 🐟 and the fact that he's bringing his own authentic touch from shewolf pastificio & bar is a total win in my book 💯. i've heard great things about patrick thompson design's work on other high-profile projects, so i have no doubt they'll bring medusa to life with an immersive dining experience 🌊. can't wait for the grand opening in late december! ⏰

🍝🌿 So I'm low-key excited about Medusa Cucina Siciliana 🤔👀 Chef Lombardo is like a master chef for sure 🙌 and I love how he's all about keeping it simple with olive oil, capers, olives, tomatoes, anchovies... 🍴💦 that sounds so good! 🤤 I've been to SheWolf before and the food was always on point 💯 but this new spot is gonna be something else 🔥🔪 I'm also loving the vibe of the restaurant 🏠👌 Patrick Thompson Design is known for creating these super immersive experiences 🎨👀 and I can already picture myself sipping a glass of wine 🍷 surrounded by all that Mediterranean flair 🌊🕊️ December or January, can't wait to try it out ⏰👅

Just heard about Medusa Cucina Siciliana comin' to Midtown and I'm already feelin' the doom 😔. Another restaurant is gonna open and probably just close down 6 months later like that other one on Ferry Street 🚫. Chef Lombardo's got a good rep, but you can't replicate the magic of SheWolf Pastificio & Bar 👀. The menu sounds delicious, but we all know how that usually ends... 😴. Mark my words, it'll be another flash in the pan 🕯️.

Ugh, restaurants opening up everywhere... but I gotta say, Medusa Cucina Siciliana sounds pretty cool 🤔! I mean, Chef Lombardo's got the skills, he's done well with SheWolf and all. The idea of bringing a taste of Sicily to Detroit is really exciting, especially with that focus on Mediterranean flavors. Olive oil, capers, olives... simple yet so good 😋.

I'm a bit skeptical about the interior design, though - can they pull off that immersive experience? Patrick Thompson Design has some great work under their belt, but Medusa's gotta live up to the hype. And late December/early January opening date? That's like Christmas magic ✨... I hope they don't overhype it too much, 'cause then they'll be in for a letdown 😐.

Still, I'm stoked to see another great Italian restaurant popping up in Detroit. It's gonna be awesome to have that Sicilian vibe in town, especially with the food scene getting more diverse. Bring on Medusa Cucina Siciliana! 👏

I'm so stoked for Medusa Cucina Siciliana to finally open its doors! The idea of Chef Anthony Lombardo bringing his passion for Italian cuisine and Sicilian traditions to the table is, like, totally exciting 🤩. I mean, who doesn't love a good pasta dish or seafood extravaganza? And the fact that he's going for authenticity is amazing – it's not often you get to experience real, genuine Sicilian flavors in Detroit.

I'm also loving the idea of the immersive dining experience and the interior design firm's plans to create an authentic Mediterranean vibe. It's like, you're transported to the coast of Italy, but with a modern twist 🌊. And I gotta say, I'm curious about the menu – those simple ingredients might just be the secret to making some amazing dishes.

But what really gets me is that this new restaurant is going to bring something special to Detroit's culinary scene. It's not just another spot for foodies; it's a chance to experience the rich flavors and culture of Sicily in the heart of Midtown. I'm counting down the days till late December – can't wait to taste the magic!

🤯 Just saw that Medusa Cucina Siciliana is opening in Midtown Detroit and I'm SO down 🍝👀! Chef Lombardo's got some big shoes to fill, but his focus on authentic Sicilian flavors & traditions has me HOOKED 💁‍♂️. Did you know the Mediterranean region is home to over 40% of the world's olive oil production? 🌿 That's a lot of deliciousness! Anyway, I'm loving the idea of an immersive dining experience that'll transport us to the coast... can't wait to try it out in Dec Jan 🎉. Have you been to any Italian restaurants in Detroit lately? Here are some fun stats:

omg I'm so stoked for Medusa Cucina Siciliana!!! 🤩 it sounds like Chef Anthony Lombardo is gonna take us on an amazing journey through the flavors and traditions of Sicily... I mean who doesn't love pasta, seafood, and olives?! 😋 I've been to SheWolf before and the food was SO good! I'm wondering if they'll have any traditional Sicilian desserts too... like cannoli or sicilian cake? 🍰🎂 and btw what's with the name Medusa? is it inspired by mythology or something? 🤔 also, the interior design sounds super cool... I hope they go for a cozy vibe instead of modern and fancy... can't wait to try this place out! 👍

🍝🌿 I'm low-key hyped for Medusa Cucina Siciliana! Chef Lombardo's passion project sounds like it's gonna be fire 🔥. Elevating traditional Sicilian dishes with fresh ingredients and flavors? Yes, please! 🤩 The attention to detail in the interior design is also giving me major vibes - I can already imagine sipping a glass of wine and digging into that pasta while feeling like I'm in the Mediterranean sun ☀️. It's gonna be interesting to see how Chef Lombardo weaves the story of Sicily through his menu, but if anyone can do it justice, it's him 👏. Can't wait for December! 🎉

Just read about this new restaurant Medusa Cucina Siciliana and I'm super excited! Chef Anthony Lombardo is gonna bring that real Italian vibe to Midtown neighborhood. He's got the right idea too - simple flavors like olive oil, capers, olives, tomatoes, anchovies will really shine through. Can't wait to try it out when it opens in December... or January, either way, it's gonna be a great spot for pasta lovers!

🤔 just thinking about Medusa's menu already got me craving for some good ol' pasta & seafood! Chef Anthony Lombardo's concept sounds super promising, especially with the focus on showcasing the unique flavors of Sicily. olive oil, capers, olives, tomatoes, anchovies - yessss, simplicity is key 🍝👌 can't wait to try it out when it opens in Dec/Jan! 👉

🍝👀 so great another new restaurant to try, because we didn't have enough already in detroit... i mean, can't wait to see what other "authentic" italian food looks like from someone who's apparently never actually been to sicily 😏. and olive oil, capers, olives, tomatoes, anchovies? that sounds about as original as a detroit snowflake ❄️. good luck with the renovations, i'm sure it'll be a real challenge to make a space look "impressive" in midtown... but hey, at least they're trying 😂

Ugh I'm low-key excited about Medusa Cucina Siciliana 🤯 but also super concerned that Chef Lombardo's minimalist menu is gonna be a major snooze fest 🙄 Like, olive oil and anchovies on every dish? 🤢 That sounds like a recipe for boredom to me 😴 Can't he add some creativity or something? 🤔 I mean, I love a good ol' pasta dish as much as the next person, but if it's just gonna be Capers and Olives all day, every day... 😒
