Shri Thanedar to file articles of impeachment against Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth - Detroit Metro Times

Michigan Rep. Shri Thanedar Announces Plans to Impeach Defense Secretary Hegseth Over Alleged War Crimes

A new player has entered the impeachment fray in Washington, D.C. as Representative Shri Thanedar of Michigan announced plans to file articles of impeachment against U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth over allegations that Hegseth issued orders to "kill everybody" on a Venezuelan drug smuggling boat and discussed pending attacks on Yemen in a group chat.

Thanedar, a billionaire entrepreneur from the pharmaceutical industry and immigrant from India, represents parts of Detroit, downriver, and the Grosse Pointe communities. The congressman has a history of taking on high-profile targets, having previously filed seven articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump in April.

According to Thanedar, Hegseth's actions amount to "impeachable misconduct" and put American servicemembers and their families at risk every day he serves as Secretary of Defense. He also claims that Hegseth violated the Defense Department's Law of War Manual by issuing orders to kill civilians on a civilian boat.

Thanedar pointed to a group chat between Hegseth and other officials in which they discussed pending attacks on Yemen, including target systems and attack times. The congressman argues that this mishandling of classified information has put American lives at risk.

The announcement was made during a rally in Washington, D.C., where Thanedar told the crowd that "In this country, we have presidents, not kings." He emphasized that Hegseth's actions constitute tyranny rather than leadership and that if left unchecked, they would undermine the rule of law.

Democratic Party leadership has dismissed the possibility of impeaching Hegseth, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries stating that Republicans will never allow articles of impeachment to be brought to the floor. However, Jeffries did suggest that Hegseth should resign rather than face impeachment proceedings.

Thanedar's plans to file articles of impeachment against Hegseth come as the House prepares to address other high-profile targets under Trump, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

"Those who would give up essential liberty to acquire more are slaves of liberty." πŸ’‘ This is what's happening with some politicians in our country, they just want power and don't care about the consequences of their actions. It's time for them to face the music and be held accountable for their mistakes. πŸ€–

Another politician trying to get their 15 minutes of fame by jumping on the bandwagon of "I'm gonna take down the big bad secretary of defense". Like, come on Shri Thanedar, what's your beef with Pete Hegseth? Did you really think that sending a strongly worded letter was gonna be enough to make him squirm? And now he's gonna have to go through the circus of an impeachment trial... it's just gonna end up being a waste of taxpayer dollars.

Ugh, this is getting crazy 😩! I'm not even sure why we need another round of impeachments 🀯. Can't people just do their jobs without making a mess out of it? Hegseth's actions sound super reckless and unprofessional...I mean, who talks about killing civilians in a group chat πŸ“£? And yeah, the Law of War Manual thingy sounds legit too 😬.

But, I guess this is what happens when politics gets that messy πŸ’”. Thanedar's got some serious guts to go after someone with this level of power and influence. Not sure if impeaching him is the right move though...I mean, we already have enough drama in D.C. without bringing it down to our personal living rooms πŸ“Ί.

And honestly, can't we just focus on the issues instead of playing politics all the time? It feels like every decision nowadays is about who's got their back or who's getting fired πŸ’Ό. Just saying...

This is getting crazy lol 🀯! I mean what even is a war crime now? Like, kill everybody on a civilian boat? That's not how you handle foreign policy πŸ™„...and don't even get me started on the group chat thingy πŸ“±. How did classified info just get shared like that? It's just so reckless and unprofessional...and yeah, we need someone to take him down πŸ’₯! Thanedar seems like a straight shooter who's not afraid to speak truth to power πŸ‘Š. I'm all for holding people in power accountable, even if it means going after them with impeachment articles 🚫. We can't just let this kind of behavior slide anymore 😑.

πŸ˜’ This is getting outta hand! First, it's Trump, now it's Hegseth? What's next, impeachin' everyone in DC? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I mean, I get it, someone's gotta hold 'em accountable, but come on, can't we just focus on gettin' the job done without all this drama? And what's with these "allegations" of war crimes? Can't we have some real proof before we start throwin' stones? πŸ€” This whole thing reeks of politics and optics to me...

πŸ€” I gotta say, this is wild times in Washington D.C. πŸŒ† It's crazy that someone would even think about impeaching the Defense Secretary over some alleged war crimes. I mean, I get it, people are upset, but isn't this just getting into a whole new level of politics? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Like, how does one person just take on an entire administration? Shri Thanedar is making waves and stuff...

I'm curious about Pete Hegseth though, what exactly did he do wrong? Is it really that serious to be issuing orders to "kill everybody" on a civilian boat? 🀯 And what's with the group chat, was that some classified info they were talking about? Can't just have a convo like that in plain sight...

It also makes me wonder if we're over here thinking everyone has these huge powers and can just do whatever they want. I mean, there's a whole system in place for handling stuff like this. Maybe it's time to take a step back and look at the bigger picture? πŸ“Š

πŸ€” dude, this guy Thanedar is just trying to get some attention, you know? He's like a one-man circus act. First it's Trump, now it's Hegseth... what's next? He thinks he's some kind of hero by taking on the big boys in DC. πŸ™„ Newsflash: impeachment isn't a magic wand that solves everything. And let's be real, if the Democratic party leadership is already saying "good luck" with this, Thanedar's just got himself a long shot. πŸ“‰ What's really going on here? Is Hegseth actually guilty of war crimes or was it just some off-the-record chat gone wild? We'll probably never know for sure... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I'm not sure if this is going too far... I mean, Pete Hegseth has got some major red flags here 🚨. The whole "kill everybody" thing on that Venezuelan boat is just crazy talk. And what's up with him discussing attack plans in a group chat? That's just reckless. I get that Thanedar's trying to hold people accountable, but can't we take this one step at a time?

I'm also kinda curious why the Dem leadership is dismissing impeachment, but not pushing for Hegseth to resign instead πŸ€”. It feels like they're more worried about avoiding a messy fight than actually doing what's right. And what about all these other people who might be involved in this... Secretary of State Blinken and AG Garland? That's some serious business.

I just wish we could get more info on both sides before jumping to conclusions πŸ˜’. We need to make sure our leaders are acting in the best interest of America, not just their own agendas.

πŸ€” idk why ppl think impeachin someone over war crimes is a big deal 🚫 like isnt that whats gonna happen when they get caught in the 1st place? πŸ˜’ i mean he said kill everybody on that boat, who expects more from them tho? πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ and its not like hes the 1st one to say something crazy in a group chat πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

lol what's next gonna be impeachin everyone in DC? I mean i get it shri thanedar is tryna make a name for himself but "kill everybody" on a boat? that's just crazy talk 🀯 the defense secretary is trying to keep americans safe and he's gettin roasted by some indian dude who thinks he can take down hegseth with a few screenshots from a group chat πŸ˜‚ and what's with all these articles of impeachment being filed? it's like congress has lost all sense of reason πŸ™„

This is getting outta hand, right? 🀯 I just don't get why we need to impeach people over stuff that's supposed to be top secret. I mean, what's the difference between Hegseth's chat with other officials and Trump's tweets? Both seem like pretty normal behavior to me... well, except for maybe the part where he said "kill everybody" on a boat πŸš£β€β™€οΈ. That doesn't sound right at all. And isn't it weird that we're talking about this now when there are actual issues with people in power? What's the priority here? The fact that Democratic Party leadership is dismissing the idea of impeachment just makes me more curious... how does all this work, anyway? πŸ€”

I'm shocked by this new development! 🀯 I mean, we already have a big mess with President Trump's stuff going on, now Pete Hegseth is in the hot seat too? The thought of someone ordering to kill civilians on a civilian boat is just heartbreaking πŸ’”. It's not right that Rep. Thanedar is taking a stand against this alleged war crime, I hope he's got solid evidence to back it up 🀝. The idea that Hegseth was discussing attacks on Yemen in a group chat is just crazy talk 😲. What if the info was leaked out? We wouldn't want our servicemembers or civilians put in harm's way because of some classified mishap 🚨. This whole thing stinks, can't wait to see how it all plays out πŸ‘€

I'm getting worried about this whole thing πŸ€•. Can't we just have some leadership that doesn't involve trying to kill people? I mean, I get it, national security is a big deal, but come on, how do you issue orders to "kill everybody" and then pretend like it's no big deal? 😱 It seems like Hegseth is more worried about his own power than about the safety of our soldiers and civilians. And what's with this "tyranny" thing? Can't we just have a president who makes decisions that benefit everyone, not just himself or his friends? πŸ€” I'm also getting tired of all these backroom deals and group chats where people are discussing classified info like it's no big deal. When will we learn to hold our leaders accountable for their actions? 😑

I'm not sure what's going on with this whole impeachment thing but I think it's crazy that Rep Thanedar is trying to take down Defense Sec Hegseth over some alleged war crimes 🀯. Like, I get it if someone made a mistake, we can all make mistakes right? But "kill everybody" on a boat? That sounds super serious 😱.

And what's with the group chat thingy? I don't know about classified info but if someone's talking about attacks without knowing who to tell, that's like, not good 🀫. But is this really grounds for impeachment? Like, isn't that kinda extreme?

I'm just saying, if you're gonna take down someone in power, you gotta have some solid evidence and it doesn't seem like Rep Thanedar has that πŸ’”. And what about the other people he's mentioned, Secretary Blinken and AG Garland? Are they next on the chopping block too? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Omg u gotta believe this!!! 🀯 Rep Shri Thanedar is like "I'ma take down SecDef Pete Hegseth" over some alleged war crimes lol what even is this? Like, I get it, we need to hold ppl accountable but come on, isn't this just another thing to divide the country? πŸ™„ Anywayz,Thaneder's all about impeachin' Hegseth for allegedly killin people on a boat and mishandlin classified info like its nobodies business. And OMG,he even has a group chat with other ppl where they're talkin trash about Yemen lol...anywayz,I'm just here 4 the drama πŸŽ‰πŸ‘€

Ugh, this is getting outta hand 😩! I mean, I get it, someone's gotta hold the execs accountable, but Pete Hegseth? He seems like a normal guy, just tryin' to do his job. And 7 articles of impeachment against Trump? That's just crazy talk 🀯. And now this new guy Thanedar's goin' after him? It's like, can't we all just get along? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I mean, what's next? Impeach the coffee shop owner 'cause they didn't have enough creamer? πŸ˜‚ Come on, people! Let's focus on fixin' the real problems instead of just makin' stuff up and yellin' about it on Twitter πŸ“±.

OMG, this is getting good! 🀯 A new player has entered the game and I gotta say, Shri Thanedar's got some serious skills for a newbie 😎. I mean, 7 articles against Trump in April? That's like, a whole lotta sass πŸ’β€β™€οΈ. But seriously, if Hegseth is issuing orders to kill civilians on a civilian boat, that's some bad juju πŸ”₯. And what's with the group chat? How did that even happen? πŸ€”

I gotta agree with Thanedar on this one - we can't have our SecDef acting like a king and violating the Law of War Manual πŸ“š. It's time to hold him accountable, imo πŸ‘Š. And yeah, I don't think Jeffries is being realistic about Republicans not allowing articles of impeachment to be brought to the floor πŸ˜‚. If it happens, it'll be a major win for the Democrats and a huge embarrassment for Hegseth πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

This is gonna be an interesting ride, folks! πŸš€

This is getting serious 🀯... Impeachment is already being thrown around like it's a hot potato 🍟... I'm not sure if Thanedar's got the juice to take down Hegseth πŸ’ͺ, but at least he's speaking out about some serious red flags πŸ”΄. The fact that Hegseth was discussing attacks on Yemen in a group chat with classified info is straight-up reckless 😱... and the idea of ordering people to kill civilians on a civilian boat? That's just not right 🚫.

I do think it's refreshing to see someone like Thanedar taking a stand, even if it means going against the party line 🀝. The problem is, what's the endgame here? Is this just another example of partisanship getting in the way of doing what's right? πŸ€”... Anyway, I'm keeping an eye on this one πŸ‘€.

I'm just so impressed that Rep Thanedar decided to take on another big name in Washington D.C... like it's not a thing he does at all πŸ™„. I mean, who hasn't had seven articles of impeachment filed against them already? And let's be real, the phrase "tyranny rather than leadership" is just code for "I'm trying too hard to sound like a superhero from a comic book".

Also, what's with the Law of War Manual? Is that something I should know about? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I thought we were still living in a country where our military has rules and stuff. It's not like they're just making it up as they go along.

And finally, Rep Thanedar saying "In this country, we have presidents, not kings" is just so... 2025 πŸ™ƒ. Can't he come up with something more original?
