Six Nations 2026: Wales prop Keiron Assiratti set to miss tournament as Sam Wainwright called up

Wales' prop forward Keiron Assiratti will miss the 2026 Six Nations tournament due to a calf injury. The 28-year-old suffered the problem during Wales' United Rugby Championship (URC) victory over Benetton, and he is now facing several weeks on the sidelines.

In his absence, Sam Wainwright has been called up to join the squad. The 27-year-old prop forward had previously played just four games for Wales, all as a replacement, but will now get an opportunity to prove himself in the starting lineup.

Wales head coach Steve Tandy has expressed disappointment at Assiratti's injury, saying that it is "disappointing" news. However, he also welcomed Wainwright into the squad, stating that it gives the young prop forward a chance to join the group and make an impact.

Assiratti had been a regular member of Wales' squad in recent years, making over 30 appearances for the team. His injury has left Wales with several other injuries, including those of captain Jac Morgan, number eight Taulupe Faletau, lock Christ Tshiunza, and centre Max Llewellyn.

Wales will begin their Six Nations campaign against England at Twickenham on February 7, before facing Ireland, Scotland, and France over the following weeks.

πŸ€• oh no, calf injury is never good... 😬 Keiron Assiratti has been a regular for Wales in recent years and now he's out for weeks πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. But on the bright side, Sam Wainwright gets a chance to shine in the starting lineup! πŸ’ͺ🏽 It'll be interesting to see how he does, considering his limited game time so far πŸ‘€. Tandy's right to give him an opportunity, but I feel bad for Assiratti πŸ€•. These injuries are piling up on Wales... Jac Morgan, Taulupe Faletau, Christ Tshiunza, and Max Llewellyn all out too 🀯. Fingers crossed everyone recovers in time for the Six Nations 🀞.

πŸ€• ugh, calf injury is the WORST πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ, cant believe keiron assiratti gonna miss six nations...assiratti's been a staple in wales squad for years, hope he recovers soon...wainwright gotta step up & show what he's got πŸ€”, 27 yrs old & already getting called up, so eager to see him shine! 🌟

Ugh man, this calf injury thing is killing me 😩. I remember when injuries were just a part of the game, but nowadays everyone's always getting hurt. Assiratti's been one of the reliable guys for Wales, and now he's out for weeks? πŸ€• It's like they're losing players left and right - Morgan, Faletau, Tshiunza... it's like a never-ending crisis! 😬 And what about Wainwright getting the start? I guess you've gotta give him a chance to shine, but it's tough when you've got an entire tournament with so many injuries πŸ€”. Anyway, I'm sure Wales will still manage to put on a show against England at Twickenham... πŸ‰πŸ‘

Ugh, calf injuries are the worst πŸ’”! I feel bad for Keiron Assiratti, he's been a solid player for Wales in recent years... πŸ€• hopefully he'll be back on the pitch soon. This is a big opportunity for Sam Wainwright to shine though, let's see how he does 🌟! The squad is already looking a bit fragile with all these injuries, fingers crossed they can stay healthy until the end of the tournament 🀞. England at Twickenham will be a tough opener for Wales... πŸ’ͺ

πŸ˜” gotta feel bad for keiron assiratti, been a regular in the squad for years and now he's out for months πŸ€•. but you know how it is in rugby, injuries happen and other guys get their chance to shine πŸ’ͺ. sam wainwright's gonna have to step up his game, been on the periphery before, now's his shot ⚑️. hope assiratti recovers well, don't wanna see him out for too long 🀞. Wales gotta be careful with all these injuries, can't keep losing key players 😬. fingers crossed for the lads, gonna miss wainwright but he'll have to bring the heat πŸ’₯

OMG I'm so bummed for Assiratti πŸ€•πŸ˜” he's been a solid player for Wales and now this calf injury is gonna take him out of the tournament πŸ˜žπŸ’”. But on a positive note, I'm stoked to see Sam Wainwright gettin' a chance to shine πŸŒŸπŸ‰! He's got potential and it'll be cool to see how he does in the starting lineup πŸ€”. And ugh, these injuries are piling up for Wales... hope they can get everyone healthy by the end of the tournament πŸ’ͺ😬

πŸ€• Calf injuries are a nightmare 🚽, hope Assiratti recovers quickly ⏰. This is gonna be an interesting tour for Wales πŸ€”, Wainwright's gotta step up his game πŸ”₯!

πŸ€” so this is a bummer for wales but i think its an awesome opportunity for sam wainwright to shine 🌟 he's been waiting for ages to get a shot in the starting lineup and now hes gonna get his chance πŸ’ͺ lets be real though, keiron assiratti was having some issues with consistency anyway so maybe this is just the push he needed to elevate his game πŸ”₯ meanwhile, wales are gonna have to deal with some serious injury woes πŸ€• jac morgan's leadership will definitely be missed but wainwright's got a chance to step up and show us what hes made of πŸ‘

ugh, calf injuries are the worst! πŸ€• it's like, one minute you're fine, next you're sidelined for months... anyway, glad Sam Wainwright gets a shot to start though 🀞 hope he makes the most of it! 🌟 also kinda sad that Assiratti won't be there... he was a solid player and I think Wales will miss him 🐴 wish them all the best in the tournament πŸ†

πŸ€•πŸ‰ So bummed for Assiratti πŸ˜”, he's been such a solid player for Wales & now he's out for weeks πŸ’”. Hopefully, this gives Wainwright some serious game time 🀞 & he can shine! πŸ‘ On the bright side, it's not like they're gonna win or anything πŸ˜‰. But seriously, injuries are always tough, especially when you've got a team like Wales with so many talented players 🀝. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out ⏰.

ugh cant believe assiratti got injured now wales are gonna have to scramble for that spot in the front row 🀯 and wainwright gets the call-up πŸ™Œ gotta admit its good to see some youth coming into the squad but come on, 27 isnt old for a prop forward lol. hope wainwright can step up and not let assiratti's absence ruin his career 😬

man this is bad news for wales rugby πŸ€• keiron assiratti's calf injury is gonna be a major blow to their squad they've got so many key players out already it's like they're trying to compete with all injuries at once ⚠️ anyway glad sam wainwright gets a shot in the starting lineup he'll need to step up big time if he wants to make an impact πŸ‘€

πŸ€” So I'm really happy for Sam Wainwright getting a chance to play, he's been waiting in the wings for ages... but at the same time, it's a bit of a mess with all these injuries πŸ€•. Keiron Assiratti was always a solid player and his absence is definitely going to be felt. I just hope Sam can step up and not get too much pressure on him. The team's depth is being tested right now πŸ’ͺ. Still, I'm excited to see how Wainwright will do in the starting lineup... fingers crossed he doesn't put a foot wrong πŸ˜…!

πŸ˜”πŸ‰ Oh man, that's bummer news for Keiron Assiratti! I know how frustrating it is to get injured and miss out on important games πŸ€•. But at least he's got a good team behind him, right? πŸ’ͺ Sam Wainwright seems like a great opportunity for the young prop forward - I hope he makes the most of it! 🌟 And poor Keiron will be missing the 2026 Six Nations... that's gonna hurt ⚠️. But we've gotta wish him all the best in his recovery πŸ’•.

I don’t usually comment but I think this is a bummer for Wales πŸ€•πŸ‰. Assiratti has been a solid player for them in recent years, so his injury is definitely going to be felt. On the bright side, it’s great that Wainwright gets a chance to show off his skills 😊. He seems like a decent prop forward and might be able to help Wales out with their injuries. The squad's already dealing with some tough losses, so hopefully they can stay healthy for the rest of the tournament ⏰.

πŸ€• just got that news about keiron assiratti gonna miss 2026 six nations 🚫 it's a shame cuz he's been doin great lately πŸ˜” sam wainwright is comin in tho which might be good for wales 🀞 fingers crossed he can step up and do his thing πŸ‘ also hope keiron recovers quick so he can get back out there πŸ’ͺ

omg this is a major blow for Wales πŸ€• Assiratti's been a solid player in the team but calf injuries are the worst, can't even walk properly πŸ˜‚ hope he makes a speedy recovery! but on the flip side, gotta say I'm intrigued by Sam Wainwright, been hearing mixed reviews about him. Either way, squad depth is key and it's good to see them being proactive with call-ups πŸ’ͺ think they've got this one covered... except maybe for the mental games with England at Twickenham πŸ€”

Calf injuries are just the best, especially when you're about to kick off a major tournament πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Like, what's next? A broken leg that heals in time for the start of the season? πŸ˜’. Anyways, gotta give props to Sam Wainwright, he's getting a chance to shine and prove himself. Hope Assiratti recovers soon, but for now, it's all about the squad's depth. And with some other key players out, maybe this will be Wales' chance to show everyone what they're made of πŸ’ͺ🏻. Still got my money on England winning the whole thing, but we'll see... πŸ€‘
