Sixers assign Jared McCain to Delaware Blue Coats for second time this season

The Philadelphia 76ers have made the decision to assign Jared McCain, a 21-year-old shooting guard, to their NBA G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats for the second time this season. This move comes as part of a broader effort by the team's coaching staff to help McCain regain his footing in what has been a dismal sophomore campaign.

Coach Nick Nurse had previously struggled to find a suitable role for McCain, who suffered from an injury-ridden offseason and subsequent struggles on the court. Despite efforts to give him more playing time, McCain's performance has not improved significantly, with the minutes he was given dwindling over the past few weeks before being completely eliminated in Friday night's loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

McCain had previously expressed his appreciation for his stint with the Blue Coats last November, citing its value as a way to improve his game. However, it seems that this latest assignment is seen as a necessary step by the Sixers to help McCain get back on track and regain his momentum.

The assignment also highlights the team's decision not to give McCain regular playing time, which has become increasingly scarce since they reached full strength. This move signals that the Sixers have moved forward with their rotation plans and are no longer willing to justify giving McCain consistent minutes.

McCain will now be sent back down to the G League alongside other players, including rookie Johni Broome, two-way player MarJon Beauchamp, and others, as they prepare for Sunday's game against the Noblesville Boom.

πŸ€” I feel bad for Jared McCain, he's got a tough road ahead of him πŸš€. Coaching staff is trying to help him out but it looks like its time for him to step up his game. NBA G League has been good for him last time around and maybe this will be another opportunity for growth πŸ’‘. Not sure about the rotation plans, seems like they've given up on him a bit πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Guess only time will tell if he'll bounce back from this assignment πŸ”œ

I gotta say, I'm a bit surprised by this move, but not entirely shocked πŸ€”. It seems like Nick Nurse is trying to give Jared McCain some time to work on his game without putting too much pressure on him, which makes sense. But, at the same time, it's pretty clear that the 76ers have moved on from him and are focusing on their top players πŸ’ͺ.

I think this move also says something about the state of McCain's development as a player πŸ€”. He had some promising moments last season but his rookie year was cut short due to injuries, which makes it tough for him to build momentum πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. The G League assignment is like a second chance for him to prove himself, and if he doesn't take advantage of it, well... 🚫

It's also interesting that McCain had some positive words about his stint with the Blue Coats last season, so maybe this move isn't as harsh on him as it seems 😊. Nonetheless, I'm curious to see how McCain responds to this opportunity and whether he can turn things around πŸ”œ

πŸ€” A little worried about Jared McCain's season... πŸ€• His injury issues made last season tough, but this is a big step back in the G League. πŸ“‰ Hopefully, he'll use this time to figure some things out and come back stronger πŸ˜…. Coach Nick Nurse seems like a pro, gotta trust his process πŸ‘Š. The Sixers' rotation plans are clear now, gotta let the younger guys shine through 🌟. McCain's still young, 21! πŸŽ‰ Give him some time to adjust... πŸ’

lol what's goin on with mccain?? like, i get it, injuries r a bummer but u gotta think he's been down 2x this season already... maybe its time 4 him 2 take a step back & refocus? idk if the coach is tryna force his game or watever, cuz everythin he's shown so far just ain't workin. seems like hes losin minutes cuz of it πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ€” I feel bad for McCain, he really needs a boost πŸš€. Coach Nurse is trying to help him out by sending him back to Delaware, maybe this will be just what he needs πŸ’ͺ. It's not easy being a backup or coming off the bench, especially when you're still young and figuring things out πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Maybe McCain can learn from his experience and come back stronger in the future πŸ”₯.

I feel bad for Jared McCain, he's been through so much already, all those injuries... πŸ€•πŸ’” I get why the team is trying to help him regain his footing but it's tough when you're struggling on the court. It's like, what can you do? The G League thing was supposed to be a way for him to improve, and now he's back down there again. 😞 But at least he's getting the chance to work on his game and maybe come back stronger. I hope he takes this time to focus on himself, get his mind right, and come back swinging when he gets called up next 🀞

πŸ€” I'm just saying, NBA teams gotta make tough decisions like this, right? πŸ™ƒ I mean, McCain had a decent stint in the G League last time, but his performance on the court hasn't been great lately... 😐 21 years old and still struggling to find his groove. The Sixers are trying to help him out, but it's clear they're not gonna give him a ton of playing time. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I guess it's better than just cutting ties with him straight away. The G League is all about learning and growth, so maybe this will be the push McCain needs to turn things around... πŸ’ͺ

I'm so over this G League limbo πŸ™„. It feels like every time one guy struggles, he just gets sent back down to "improve his game" without even a chance to break into the main squad. I mean, McCain was already 21, when's he gonna get a real shot at playing in the NBA?! πŸ€” This is just another example of how teams are being super cautious with their rotations and it's like they're not giving young players any room to breathe or make mistakes. It's all just so frustrating 😩

ugh i feel bad for mccain πŸ˜” he really needs to get his game together ASAP but at the same time i get why the sixers are doing this kinda thing happens in sports πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ coaches wanna help players develop and grow and sometimes that means being sent back down to the g league where they can work on their skills without the pressure of being in the nba πŸ€ it's all part of the journey right? πŸ’ͺ fingers crossed mccain comes back stronger than ever! 🀞

I'm not a huge fan of this move πŸ€”. I mean, McCain is only 21, still got plenty of time to figure things out. Assigning him to the G League for the second time this season feels like a cop-out to me. He should be getting more support from the coaching staff instead of being sent down to the minors again 🚫. The Sixers have a talented young roster, I wish they'd give McCain some more chances to prove himself rather than holding him back πŸ”₯
